Lord Of The Rings : Two Towers
if youv read the book it does make it a bit easier to take seriously cos the talking trees called ents dont seem quite so ridiculous in prose. and gollum shouldnt have had such a jarjar-esque voice....
but i mean its all just a big epic testosterone-inducing heartstring-tugging rumble for middle earth when it comes down to it and with fantasy titles as inspired as 'the horn of gondor', it cant really do any wrong in my eyes... even if some of its ethical messages concerning war are questionable... and the fact that all the good guys have white skin....and it glorifies killing and violence.....

Re: Coldplay: Outrageous Behavióur!
thats quite a simplistic view of the music business you have there, whereby you simply choose who you want to support you and it is so.
anyway, your unfounded hatred of coldplay... its fair enough to dislike some bands music, but you can't then say that its music is intrinsically bad - all you can do is mark out the elements that don't appeal to you. to save you some time i'll list the favourite ones: whiny voice, 'dull', 'sings like a girl'. quite ironic that these are all criticisms the nme regularly levels at sigur ros; criticisms that probably frustrate you a great deal when you are aware of the fact that they're only citing them in some lame attempt to find reasons to dislike a band who aren't trendy or part of the 'new rock revolution' (funny how this spontaneous social movement has such a catchy title and logo as well as free nme-sponsored badges).
maybe then you can understand why it frustrates me that you are obviously just clutching at reasons to completely dismiss a band who don't fit with your site's whiteboy, indiekid, "i listen to bands you've never heard of so i'm cooler than you" outlook.
oh and just briefly, in defence of chris martin, he's made quite an admirable effort to publicise fair trade and explain what it means to the commonfolk - he did a whole feature on it in Q, which is likely to be a staple for much of the coldplay demographic.

easy lads
why's everyone on this board so ludicrously quick to condemn stuff. it's just a bit of fun, it's stupid and pointless, that's the whole point. if you sent really serious questions about artistic integrity it would just give the band members an oppurtunity spout the usual 'serious artist' crap you get if you pick up any music magazine in the local newsagent.
which is very interesting but every now and again its nice to see how they react to stupid stuff. makes them seem more human.

Re: The Roots: Hop over to the UK
all you can really do, other than donating money, or becoming a full time volunteer, is make your opinions known, and the best way of doing that is by writing about them.
