The 7" they had on sale

was the "Nothing Ever Happened" single. I was really disappointed RCE wasn't out on anything other than tape at the gig, but them's the breaks. Patience...

A) The Past Is A Grotesque Animal

DO I HAVE TO SCREAM IN YR FACE?!

A) Yo La Tengo

Alas

it's in fact a cover of "Stay"...and quite a good cover, at that.

It was probably a French horn

Definitely no cornet. He was motioning to everyone to get out of the way, which we duly did. Then he fell, and everyone got very shocked. Noble rushed offstage to help him, and he was taken backstage after lying there for a minute or two as the band finished the song. There were a couple of people who thought it was part of the act...for a few seconds, anyway.

Has no one from the BSP camp commented on the welfare of the French horn?

ps: On the way back from the show, some friends and I were trying to work out what headline various music sites would end up using to cover this story. We didn't come up with what DiS had (though we did have It Ended On A Bloody Stage).

Needless to say

I had the last laugh.

My girlfriend thought it was

"Miller, Windy Miller, Windy Miller, Windy Miller"

over and over again.

The Tricky track

was used when Sid was meant to have his moment with Tony's girlfriend, only for Tony to barge in at the last minute. It worked bloody perfectly.

In fact, whoever picked the songs for the series did well; more often than not, it fitted better than most cack-handed TV soundtracking.

If that's the artwork

then I'm buying this single.

There was

a demo of that track on his MySpace about a year ago. One of my favourite things he's ever written. Lovely stuff. Look forward to hearing the full LP.

I'd agree

from what I've heard of it so far (about half the album, loud on headphones), it's impressive but there's not much else to it. Will give it a proper listen soon, methinks.

Oops!

How dare you compare those two!

Ugh. "I've got a wealth of new ideas" - come back when you can prove it, Dykeenies.

That's no good!

WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON?!

And so,

it would seem, can Brian May.

What's that climbing up the PA?

...

Bought this yesterday

with the intention of ripping the mp3s, taking it back and getting the Sufjan Xmas album instead. Having listened to it about 3 times, now I'm not so sure I want to part with it.

I swear I read somewhere

that their aim was to "do for Coventry what Kasabian did for Leicester".

Shit name, too.

Ah yes, Elizabeth

Heard that on the office stereo last time I was at work experience. It's a choon. Love the new version of Diamonds too. What's the Syd Barrett tribute on the b-side like?

PSB > Sunshine Underground or Jamie T

True story.

He's got a song on an advert now...

Tut tut! Sell out! etc

The Knife?!

*giggle*

Are you sure?

I mean, they're from Sweden, and the Swedish don't often do irony...

I noticed as soon as I posted that comment to Gareth!

And suddenly realised I'd shake my arse just as hard to the songs on your list as I would to Colin's. Just a shame about Diver's really... :p

Haha! Cheers. That list of mine was actually one of my dj sets once, I think. Mutual appreciation: excellent choice with the Phoenix track. That song makes me groove like a motherbitch.

I'd do Colin's. How about that!

Belle And Sebastian - Legal Man
Helen Love - Debbie Loves Joey
Kenickie - Punka
Violent Femmes - Blister In The Sun
Girls Aloud - Love Machine
Pet Shop Boys - Always on my mind
Pulp - Lipgloss
Vincent Vincent And The Villans - Blue Boy
Orange Juice - Blue Boy
XTC - Generals And Majors

So...

...slow news day, then?

RE: the title picture...

How did you manage to coax Brian Wilson into coming to The Great Escape?!

Definitely

One of the best albums of the decade. Yes, I'm going to go that far.

They deserve something better

Flaming genius. The album's incredible.

she used to GO to raynes park high school

So I'm guessing that's where she went with Rhys Good Shoes (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Small Town Girl is about her...), but I go to Esher College, which is even more in the arsehole of nowhere than Raynes Park.

Scary thought, that...

Apparently

Jamie T went to my college. If only I knew his surname, I could ask the teachers about it...

Then again, Kiera Knightley did too. True story.

Class review, Gen

As ever, init.

Still not sure if I agree about him being "The Perfect Frontman", but you're making a damn good case for it. If it weren't for my overwhelming fear of the Cunt (or at least, Mr Tomlinson), I would be well up for seeing them again...
