i find this album forgettable after the 5th or 6th listen.
it starts off fine, but then i just think im listening to a shins record, which is annoying.
that was a great read, kudos wendy.
although i have to agree with bakerstreet, this album seemed disjointed to me too. demon days was one of those records that could be put on in any situation or surrounding, whereas this just doesnt do the same for me. this is after 4 or 5 listens too (usually where i realise if i like an album or not). its a 7 for me.
heres mine.
i'm upset that wild beasts weren't in the DiS top 5....
the opening seconds of this album
remind of "juicy" by Biggie.
Amazing album though.
em?
....
great album
great review too. kudos.
i'm seeing them at the palladium in may
i've heard they're treating it like an opera with an intermission and everything. maybe there will be an ice cream lady....
had this for a few months
it really is a great album. It's one of those albums where you sit down and soak it in. it will be great to see how they convey the album live. they really could make it in to a full on show....
i managed to pick up a copy of the papercuts cd
and im loving it. a sleeper hit for 2009 me thinks.
great cd
sufjans song at the end of the first cd is epic. love it.
Hmmmm.
I agree with some of that. However, i am totally shocked The Week That Was was not included. It's definitely one of my favourite albums of the year....
fuck buttons? frightened rabbit? deerhunter? the week that was?
ALL IGNORED? why?
anyone see the striking similarity
between this art work and Jeff Buckley's Grace?
im pretty sure this is my fav album of this year.
its utterly amazing.
ok
i just listened to 1.01 mins of the first song on myspace and vomited. a worthy review....
this review
makes me want to listen to them. have i missed something here? why have i never heard of this?
oh great
i didnt realise this was out. have been looking forward to this.
a worthy review
i'm loving this album.
lol
i enjoyed this review.
i was so close to
flying up for this.
Flights were too much though. If Band of Horses had made it there, then i would have.
EPIC?!
you realise this is The Zutons, right?!
Seems like a kewl guy.
Shame that the song is DROSS.
wow
he's really enjoying his retirement init.
aaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll
plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace yooooooooouuuuuuurrrrrrrrr haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndsssssssss,
on myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy hooooooooooooooope!
Sounds like
they should have just stuck with releasing an EP for now, and taking more time to make the album.
I enjoyed the EP, but have a feeling the album will be a let down.
how did
Wilco "Sky Blue Sky" not feature in this list. one of the best albums i've listened to in the past few years...
I'm shocked that
neither Bon Iver, nor Frightened Rabbit are mention above.....
Mine are
* Bon Iver
* Frightened Rabbit
* Elbow
* No Age
* Vampire Weekend
* Fleet Foxes
* M83
* My Morning Jacket
* The Wave Pictures
Great Band,
have had the album for a while. Highly recommended.
this is
really better that the new My Morning Jacket album? I think not.
This album
isn't mind blowing by any means, but it is certainly not a 4/10.
I'm getting more and more frustrated at that consistency of ratings in the reviews on this site.
there has
been a lot of 8's and 9's going on lately. I'm not so sure.
^ agreed TRSTN
i was thinking that this might be taking place next to the king alfred....
^ Best post so far
re: this album. I am in total agreement.
One of the best live acts around too.
Am i the olny person
that thinks this is a good album?
If you compare it to the other tosh that has been release this year, then i think it at least deserves a 7.
I'm a big MMJ fan, so maybe i'm biased. Looking forward to seeing them play live in septemeber.
I'm looking
forward to this one. Good read.
...
Eagles may soar high, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
Thats a good
choice. Not too heavy, not too messy.
Nice read too. muchas thankos
What did you
eat in the end? I don't have time to read the whole thing right now....
My big tip.....
....for greatness in 2008. spotted them a while back. music how it was meant to be made.
mind blowing
