great review
pretty much spot on. Mild lapse two-thirds of the way in, but the pre-encore tunes, esp 'Kissing the Beehive', were immense. Same goes for 'I'll Believe In Anything'.
Eugene is great,
and new single (Moscow State Circus) is absolutely video of the year.
Indeed
The Acorn album is rather good - opening few tracks, brilliant.
visiter is my album of the year
thus far. Great live band too, as verified by seeing them at Hoxton.
first laid eyes
when they supported Broken Social Scene, was thoroughly impressed then, and remain so.
I have very fond
memories of Interpol at Koko and Astoria. Not Even Jail is awesome live. By the way, I think Ally Pally turns everyone and anyone to shit. Though equally unsure of how they will fare at Latitude.
so looking
forward to this record. Can't figure why so often overlooked and underrated. Well, not here, obviously.
great review
show of the year for me, so far. Highly unlikely to be topped either.
the dodos
frightened rabbit
sigur ros
vampire weekend
jonquil (was that last year?)
Were Hoppipola
not the Planet Earth soundtrack, not on radio one daytime schedule. No backlash to Takk would exist. Different to ( ) yes, but how often are bands castigated for sticking to an identical formula? Takk was a beautiful album, retrospectively condemned due to its consequent popularity and 'overachievement' in the perception of the press.
Oh, and the new album is lovely and great too.
This event is
way the fuck overpriced. Started at 35, now 50 quid. Entirely impractical - as if you can get from the old market to the concorde in one evening? Oh and Maths Class? Don't bother..
available for download too?
or just a vinyl release?
i know
the answer might be 'inflation'. But why the hell was the first event £35, now it's £50? Will I be getting more for my dollar? Hmm...
no Brighton
either :(
proper tour
indeed. genius.
this album arrived
through my letterbox this morning. much agreed with all the above. charming record, fully resonates.

It does seem odd
how the same press who had such a hard-on for this band mere months ago are now dismissing their debut?
Personally, I never warmed to them from the start. The British folk flag is held beautifully aloft by Fanfarlo and Jonquil. Far superior records.
