oooh, just seen this
jordan, i'll ask for you. mike diver did it last year did'nt he?
did you ever doubt us....
you pair...honestly!!!
oops, i meant *notts
not northants....
funny that. find yourself watching airborne toxic with a certain northants dis journalist
and lo and behold....4 months later!!!!!!
i saw lush play hypocrite, and it first introduced me to them
fucking wicked single.
i've seen spiritualized nearly 20 times, the first line still perfected shine a light better than any other i've ever seen, including at the albert hall, and the hacienda.
adorable are the most under-rated of all the shoe gaze bands by far. i wish i'd been lucky enough to see them.
i've got a mint tablet pack
though this gig really is'nt worth £33. pierce is the only musician in the current line up also played on ladies and gents. the fantastic live band of that 1997 era have all been sacked or let go since then.
the dirty backbeats are sadly
not playing this year.
tired irie and love ends disaster are, though both the fringe, and the main festival.
see here
nah.
pierce would have to reform the first line up to produce anything as good as that. what? you think pierce actually wrote it all?
mr peter kember
aha chronic spoon
actually....i would have asked him
why on earth he wont take coachella's offer of £500,000 and reform spacemen 3. sonic boom is up for it, it's jason who won't commit.
and why it's the worst and most commercial live line up he's ever had?
the first line up was by far, far, far the best live set up.
aha hello griff....
JF are lovely. they were lovely to deal with, there was a lot of interest in their playing, and they were bloody good. book them now...
ha i never said that.
March 1
Leicester, Summer Sundae warm up. Not so much a gig as a meet and greet schmooze-up, the promoter assures us. Kyte (DiScover Club, July) play before us, and they sound amazing. My stupid fucking amp blows up again and I borrow Mr Kyte’s. Fun, if Marshall-sounding show tho. Envy & Other Sins in actually nice people shocker.
heheh....... was actually a good gig, with 300 paying members of the public. we sold out.
is wordsof me aimed at me who knows
i dont book the bands. crikey no. i do for the fringe. speaking of which i need to email you simon about a sweeping the nation night at some point.
the bathysphere lot move to their own tent in the village. the rising stage thus becomes the dis stage for the friday night i believe.
know what?
i might go.
ha.
theres never ever going to be such a thing as a million pound record deal. its just major label rubbish. for instance, i know for a fact the subways got more than 60k for an advance.
i promoted the leicester gig.
envy are really, really, really nice people. cant fault them in the slightest. and theres lots of horrible stories about that band competition. from firebrand's awful appearance to the fact revenue tried to sabotage envy's kit prior to the tv final. stole all the bass string to try and stop envy from playing so well.
really nice blokes, clearly A&M are totally embarrased they won. A&M wanted revenue. further proof of exactly how utterly shite major labels are.
the stereolab and carter usm sets at reading 1995
were ace. fruity had to sit down, and jim bob spent the entire set slagging off neil young.
and the infamous foo fighters set on the melody maker stage. with that twat climbing the centre pole.
when i went in 1993
they were £45. no booking fee if you bought it in hmv
new order, rage against the machine, blur, radiohead, ned's atomic dustbin......
i promoted their first gig post signing.
and they were utterly, utterly lovely people, really nice bunch. whereas having witnessed the revenue and their god awful set at the the charlotte, i think the better band got the contract. shame A&M now seem embarrased about the whole tv program concept, and have announced they'd never do it again.
hilarious, considering
during kasabians december 6th, 2006 gig at demontfort hall they dedicated a song to the baby squad, leicester. LCFC's football hooligan element. i cant see them somehow being particularly fussed about the odd seal.
utterly fucking ace band
as far as im concerned. though theres more of a leicester scene in my eyes, but then im biased.......
he's wrong about bell & gardener
they've played together several times in the last few years, the first was in 2003
nah. they got dropped from bmg several years ago
the last album came out on sanctuary, now sanctuary have gone bust, it's little surprise mr pierce has set his own label up. he's normally very keen to keep as much money to himself as possible.
no true.
the masses against the classes, is frankly rather fucking superb.
easily the worst music festival i've ever been to.
expensive tickets, limited alcohol sales, set in really odd agricultural showground buildings. and some awful ozzy bands.
i heard this lot on lurpac last night.
and i was mighty impressed. id never heard of them before. ta for reminding me dom.
initially neil wrote all the songs.
so when he left, they chose to re-invent themselves.
in fairness. tired irie used to run a leicester club night about 2 - 3 years ago, they were playing with the edmund fitzgerald, red jetson, blood red shoes, cats and cats and cats and such quite some time ago, ian seems more on the ball then virtually anyone in the city.
heheheh duran duran references......
ian's been reading pineapster too much.
seriously though, the irie are turning into a right stunning little band.
world dominance of leicester musicians continues.........
better not play
warning robots to squeeze either.........
i did'nt help write it
i've still bought it though!!!
tis very good as well (someone leaked me a studio mp3).
ordered from rough trade, today would you believe.
i'll christen this then......
record radioplay for LED.
i still dont believe it.......i could never believe it.
Dear Gryff
Can you get Sonic boom to join the Super furries? I'd reckon he'd be an ace addition.
nothing wrong with drugby.....
sonic boom....the electronic alchemist from spacemen 3, is a former rugby school pupil........
grrrr...
i've already paid for it sadly.
messers gourlay and dowling
i'm going to sort a fri night out on the notts beers soon with mr jon dix and mr martin collins, i'll let you know when it'll e
anyone catch the love god that is matthew oakes, lead singer of the rock band love ends disaster on lamacq's 6 music show last night? twas rather amusing im told.
bah......
if i wasnt going to such a shite stag do on this day, not only would i be going to see LED play, i'd be able to give you a lift back to leicester.
bah, bah and thrice bah (hello dom and jordan)

sutton park,brum
for some unknown reason, radio one appears to have completely wiped this event from its memory, and is somewhat embarrased it ever occured..................
kyte
were fucking ace on saturday night....i really really enjoyed them (dom if you havent seen them yet, you'll love them).
kyte
are from leicester.........not like me to hype a leicester band you see......but erm. if they're signed to sonic cathedral....then erm, i'm quite excited
i do like POF....it has to be said
jordan dowling..........describing firebug as a toilet venue......shocking........you never came to the attik did you? now that was a toilet venue
yep loads.............
..........
so much he said it twice
where are they off to mr t?
oh
and i always liked a clockwork orange
ooooh
mr g you beat me to it. one of my fave ever films.
the soundtrack includes
motown junk : manics
bad behaviour : SFA
you've got a lot : catatonia
good enough : dodgy
in the summertime : mungo jerry
the other man's grass is always greener : petula clark
stem : dj shadow
butterfly 747 : moloko
one of my fave films ever, my brother was a student in swansea when they were filming it, and we saw them do the curry house scenes
actually.
i might be in leicester for that. im working away in kent, but back at wkends. i'll know a little closer to the time, but quite possibly yes. in which case we'll have a beer if i do. make up for drunken ramblings at summer sundae.
i love pacific ocean fire
it has to be said....
sorry.
i agree with this
^^^^^^^^^
its odd. im involved with a festival
though a smaller one, and thankfully one that seems quite well established and highlly regarded.
i went to reading from 1992 to 2001. i wont go anymore. its just too corporate and hardcore. and i dont want to go to the same festival as edith fucking bowman. i love some of the smaller ones, at least the innovative ones or the ones discovering new decent acts (like truck, secret garden, end of the road, etc.) as far as im concerned. v is for people that arent really into indie music, but want to be seen to go to a festival.
i do think there are far far far too many of them. i hope its a case that the stragglers drop off, but im worried that live nation will try to quash everyone. live nation already want european exclusivity clauses in band bookings to fight against bencassim, roskilde and the like
