When a song gets playlisted for a mobile phone, car or tv channel intro advert, the likelihood in our climate is that the music itself is top drawer. Final Fantasy, Sigur Ros, Vashti Bunyan, Devandra Banhart and Jackson and His Computer Band, have all become playlisted to their own credit. If anything should be overplayed, it's artists like these.

mwY's third LP has been out in the US for nearly a year. It's had such a late release here to develop a new fanbase and I even saw a pleasant NME review not so long ago. I've always found the music scene horribly ironic in promoting freedom and acceptance in lifestyle and belief when Christian bands in particular get so much grief. Good Les Savy Fav comparisons, although I'd also say there's a Fugazi and Moss Icon influence.
Brother, Sister is the most reserved of their albums. Their activist stance remains intact and their restlessness gives them a chance to keep piercing through scenes that pride themselves on opposing 'teams'.

I love Liars' progression. Drums not Dead is PERFECT for what it is. A concept album that prioritises mood over hits - its an anti-consumer record with a stunning album design. And I disagree that S/T is a repeat of their first album. If anything, its a combination of the best of the first two albums: a discordant swagger that is still experimental but slightly more melodic. Completely insane and akin to their NY Blood Bros/Locust/YYY buddies.
Music for musicians and those looking for some seismic inspiration.
