North Atlantic Oscillation
No mention of NAO?! Boooo!
totally disagree!
It's funny how you can miss so much the first few times you listen to a record, particularly if you're not giving it your full attention. There are SO many records I've thought were dull on first listen and then later given a bit more time and completely fallen in love with.
Honestly, I couldn't disagree with this review more... but then again I'm their PR so I guess I'm supposed to say that. I don't think I've ever commented on a review of a band I've worked with before though so... Yeah.
AND
The Bad for Lazarus single & b-side can be downloaded for FREE from here: http://badforlazarus.bandcamp.com/
It is REET good. Yup.
xx
I bloody love Efterklang
that's all.
bassoon: the most under-rated instrument in the world?
MORE BANDS SHOULD USE BASSOON!!
And yeah, this is a fantastic album.
andrzjef luh-wAT?
is this on a scale of 1 to REM????
esser
does anyone else remember Kid Gallahad...?
Me please!
Mono

well
I thought they were both brilliant live and I'll definately go and see them again but I personally think their songs could have a little bit more edge/a slightly more unique sound so that's where the 7s came from. I don't think that's a bad score though anyway.
i know
didn't get there in time unfortunately as i had to work late that night. next time, next time!
well
I think they're FUN. I was listening to them on the way to work this morning and it was commented on my unusually chipper disposition. Too much coffee perhaps, or maybe...
mm
I like it. I know what you mean though, a lot of the songs could be half as long and still have the same or more impact
usually
I dont like this ott 'look at me, im so working class' stuff but a li'l bit of Lady Sov makes me want to shake my booty. YEAH! I might go and spend my dinner money for the WEEK on this tomorrow.
And ermm.. hurray for midgets!
ohh
i did this with their last album. i went out and bought it cos i heard it was good and i think, beyond the initial 'maybe it will grow on me if i play it AGAIN' thing, have probably played it about twice, if that.
seriously, why can't they just start making my so called life again? he was so much better at that.
i love battles
i do.
I LOVE
this band
THIS BAND
are grrrrrrrrrrreat! seen them many times and they never fail to make me feel all warm and happy inside.
x
BUT IT MAKES ME SMILE
I like The Holloways. They make me smile and jig about like a whatsit with a thingy in it's malarky.
Don't take it so seriously, sometimes music doesn't have to be intelligent or terribly unique - for it can be JUST GOOD FUN. Like Girls Aloud... or MARK MORRISON! yEAH!
ooo
i quite fancied sean too. i liked his voice on when the lights go out... all husky and sexy. raaaa
x
I FUCKING LOVE FIVE
Their names were J, Abs, Rich, Scott and Sean. I had a HUGE crush on Scott, he was a hottie, I hope he still is.
Wiggy wiggy i'm gettin jiggy, open up the doors got the keys to your city, lookin kinda pretty, dance how you wanna dance and lets get down while we got the chance
*sigh*
hmmm
bravery - no, blondie - yes. except i think it's much sexier than most blondie.
i'm in leeds friday night/saturday morn. lets do beer/coffee.
x
hmmm
who? *confused*
sure all the lennons regulars i know who might possibly be referred to (in a very prejudiced and stereotypical manner) as 'scenesters' all dance an awful lot, mostly in quite a ridiculous manner.
i think lennons has a great atmosphere - sure a lot of people know each other but that's just cos they love it and as such go back every week. i don't think it's any attempt at snobbery or anything. maybe you should try talking to the people you call scenesters - you might actually find they're very nice people.
prrp
too much chutney makes andy a fat daddy. better get a bouncy castle to burn it off. ackkkkk.
maybe i'll post it to you so she doesnt make me eat it!!!
hahaha
oh daddy, you and your old man ales.
my mum bought some chutney you'd be SO jealous of from chatsworth farm shop. i thought it was quite revolting but there we go.
hmm
I can only imagine that attempting to play guitar whilst pregnant would be reallyfuckingdifficult. How would one reach? Or would one rest it upon the bump and therefore not be able to see?
Interesting...
hmm
when i saw my latest novel they were totally upstaged by semi finalists. that is a fact.
this looks like fun though. ooo
I reckon...
Blood Brothers - Fucking's Greatest Hits
Beep Beep - I Am The Secetary
Forward Russia - Nine
The Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control (Le Tigre Remix)
The Faint - Glass Danse
Ladyfuzz - Oh Marie
Blown Paper Bags - Politik Dance
MIA - Galang
Pink Grease - Fever
Cream vs The Hoxtons - Sunshine Of Your Love (I found this in the HMV bargain bin for 99p and have taken GREAT PRIDE in playing it ever since)
well
personally, i'm gutted...........
i was hoping for some mean girls stylee soundtrack type pop tunes dammit
true
when a band goes to a major label it's all too easy to slate them or be sceptical but i get the feeling Sigur Ros wouldn't be shoved around or told what to do, and regardless they're still making absolutely stunning music. i think, with a band like sigur ros, if they kept repeating the same style as ageatis byjrun and () it'd probably get very tired and lose the magic.
brilliant review
xx
PLUS!!!!
DiS Deeejaaaaaays at Unit 22 on Saturday night in the small room. Come boogy.
Kx
oh raz
your face never fails to make me laugh
hmm
I might be the only person in the world who doesn't like Jamie T. I feel I should, but I just... can't.
ooooh
I didn't review them because I don't like reviewing bands I don't feel I can be entirely objective about and for one reason or another, I didn't feel I could be (and not because I don't like any of them or anything of that ilk).
In hind sight yes I probably should have done and I'm sure I will review them in the future. I don't really see how it makes me a bad writer though.
dear lord!
I posted about the review on the messageboard to invoke some constructive discussion on it. I said 'slay me with your words' in a joking manner.
Grow up and stop taking things so bloody seriously.
arghh
oops, that was me, not andy. we'll get the hang of this computer-sharing lark one day hehe.
kx
chikinki
i agree with the review, they were pretty awful at lennons on monday. i expected a lot more having not seen them for a long while. Thomas Tantrum were great though.
ooh
bloody good review thomas. i shall have to steal this one from andy.
x
i fucking love the noisettes
it's definately not just male journalists. she's magnetic.
oooOOoooh
i didn't know that. exciting stuff! kevin sheilds is GOD. sortof.
yep
I don't think I've ever been ID'd in the Barfly and I look about 10.
o dear
i kinda hoped no-one would be so unfunny as to comment on that. there's always one...
well
I bloody LOVE the sugababes
hell yeah
the shins are the saviours of house work. that doesn't really sound like a compliment when you consider what's on that housework compliation being advertised on the tv, but it really is. anything that can make dusting vaguely enjoyable is fine by me!
i just hope they choose some bloody good bands for atp...
urghhhh
see now i don't know which one to go to...
I beg to differ...
You Can't Fool Me Dennis is a perfect blurt of grin-spreadingly delightful pop hoppery. I bloody love it.
Seen the Jets twice on this tour and my cheeks ached after from smiling so much both times.
Arctic Monkeys make me wanna puke.
o
thank you. he put the charlotte in his mailout, i hope he turns up at the right place hehe
