I was at Cardiff
on Tuesday night, and I thought their performance was rather tepid.
I had an absolute twat stood next to me (the 'lad' type that thought it was funny to scream 'Alice Died!!' during Backseat with his arms wide open) which spoiled it a little but I didn't think the band looked terribly interested either.
I've only seen them once before, at KCLU a couple of years ago before I'd even heard anything by them - but they were a lot better that time. Tuesday night (and the story above) just sum up why Arena tours are so shit - they attract complete and utter knobs with no idea to shit venues with rubbish acoustics.
That said, Keep The Car Running sounded fucking amazing. But that was nearly my only highlight.
Loving it.
This is my favourite one from the newies.
Saw them at Yeovil last week and the place was packed, band were brilliant and looked like they were really enjoying themselves.
Can't wait for Krankenhaus?, and then the album in Jan/Feb
.
zomg this is amazi.
that was amazing
DIVER FTW
Brilliant band
but why did it take so long to release in the UK?
Nearly everyone who wants this album has it imported from the US already.
\M/
rock on
NO FUCKING CARDIFF OR BRISTOL!!??
AHHHH I FUCKING HATE LIVING IN THE SOUTH WEST.
Rant over. God damn am i pissed off though
Well
I think it sounds like a 'rawk' version of Sweet Dreams.
agreed.
The album should get a ten too. Strawberries is my fave off the album, followed by Red Sea and this.
I have a photo
of my friends and I that is pretty well exactly the same as the that publicity shot.
.
I love Asobi Seksu. I missed them live here too, but here's hoping they'll do a tour when the album is finally 'released' here.
I completely agree with the sentiments that Citrus is one of the albums of last (now this) year.
You missed lately AND rock in A
from the middle of the set
.
I actually absolutely love this band. I'm no idiot, I know they're not life-changing, and I like to think my music tastes show that I don't generally like 'shit'.
But I saw TDs supporting Brakes last year, have seen them twice since and I'm still not fed up of them. I think they're ace.
And this album's currently getting more playtime on my iPod than either the new You Say Party! We Say Die! effort or the new National album.
I love them.
99% is a wicked opener too, I'm actually quite looking forward to this.
no cardiff is GAY
They're bloody BASED there ffs! I'm really annoyed by that. Really fucking annoyed.
I think this version's a bit percussion heavy.
It takes away the tune a bit from the demo version. At least to my ears.
I don't like it as much, I'd give it a 7, wheras I would have given the demo 9.
Someone
told me they were on the verge of splitting up... true?
But I really liked them when I saw them and 'Tones Of Town' is wonderful.
When
were My Bloody Valentine not good? Kevin Shields is a genius. And whilst I like him, Maps isn't there yet.
There are definite similarities in the music though.
.
I'm not sure it's supposed to be life changing, I just like the song. I completely agree that there's nothing that makes it essential, it's just... nice.
I really like the fact that's it's so summery though, it could definitely open a few summer iPod playlists.
I think I'd have given it a 7. I think it's damn catchy, too.
.
Michael Jordan?

I went to the Cardiff gig and was really impressed with Sunshine Underground. I thought them and NYPC were the highlights of the evening. CSS were okay, I agree their sound was fucked but it wasn't as if they didn't take long enough setting up so I'm not sure if TSU can take any blame for that. And I don't like Klaxons, so I didn't stay for them.
I thought the gig was good for what it was - I've never been to an NME thing before either but the bands put before me were good and the Solus bar has fantastic acoustics so everything sounded pretty good from where I was. So I just put up with the endless stream of advertising.
I just feel bad I may have given money to NME.
I love this album...
it's the best thing I've heard this year. The first time I saw them was last year supporting British Sea Power, and I've seen them twice since and am working doing merch for them this weekend at Exeter.
Brilliant, brilliant band, and an awesome album.
I'm doing merch for them in Exeter...
on their tour in a couple Sundays, they're a fucking AWESOME band.
I love this album, and please anyone who's seen them live once don't be put off, I didn't 'get' them until I bought the 'Hermit Mark/Spells Backwards' single - then it all made (slightly worrying) sense.
They're awesome. Give them a chance.
Awesome band
I was at Live 8 and their performance was utterly captivating. For a band who hadn't played together in that long to be on that good form was astounding. 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Comfortably Numb' were absolutely amazing. Anyone should pay to hear the latter - I'm so glad I got to hear it live in my life time.
As for the Division Bell - I loves it - 'Take It Back' and 'Poles Apart' in particular sound amazing still.
Well Done
Mike for the gig, I was actually quite gutted I couldn't be there either night but Emma said it was awesome...
Not really a fan...
However her cover of 'Naive' by the Kooks on Radio One's Live Lounge was light years ahead of the original.
If she shut her mouth a bit, maybe a few more people would be interested in her.

they
were ace in Cardiff last night. Pity the audience was gash. The furthest people forward were about 6 feet in front of the stage the whole night, it must really have put them off.
