Really cool format....
Love this track, canay wait for the album should be a winner. Hope "Tin (maanhole)" is on total lushness...
Japandroids "Post Nothing"
Surely an oversight right?
Well written piece.....
Got the album haven't heard yet due to the fact I haven't even even opened it yet, but did manage to catch them at Rough Trade and new songs sounded really really good. But like Elmanod' alludes: If there are "4 or 5 songs other bands would kill for" then your mark should be at least 8/10. There any number of albums touted as the years best that have barely 2 decent songs on em that get a higher mark than you dished out here. I think the whole scoring system needs a overhaul :O
Cool reveiw
I really like this album..
Nice!
Everything Everything have all the attributes to very big cheese over the next year or so. "Tin" is one of the best tracks i have heard this year...
Very well written piece, although
it's another example of punishment being too lenient for the crime committed. Was looking forward to snagging this album after hearing the brilliant "Colours" all of 3 years ago. So it was to my dismay that the very same song with added Hornism has turned up on this fully fledged disaster of an album. No passion, awful singing, terrible lyrics, devoid of hooks, all topped off with a large helping of pastiche. A truly regrettable and forgettable affair. "Colours" 8/10 aside (not even our Trev could nonce it up) I would give it 0/10.. .
But really imho
this album is the album of the year. Why because it make me feel great. No fillers and never have I heard a album that says so little but mean so much. I trying to rack my brains to think of a better debut album made this century.
Dreadfull
Manics should retire..
Big tings!
......heart...
A remarkable album,
truly brilliant listen from start to finish. A Definite 9/10 from me, "it's the sex"!!!
Off the top of me head and in no particular order of preference..
Lykke Li - "Breaking It Up" - My artist of the year, taken from my album of the year,
TV on The Radio - "Crying" - Out on a limb with the vocals with spectacular results.
Johnny Foreigner - "Salt, Pepper n Spinderella" - "Bring in the real drums" I heart this band so much..
Late Of the Pier - "Heartbeat" So much fun listening to this LP, could of been any one of 3 tracks.
Wildbirds and Peacedrums - "My Heart" A memorable, remarkable and emotional tune. A fervent Joy!!
Kings Of Leon - "Sex On Fire" From the most consistent band in the world right now.
Death Cab For A Cutie - "I Will Possess Your Heart" - Really rather cool, and rather special!! DiS Knows....
Take That - "Greatest Day" I shouldn't but I do!! Great lead vocal and harmonies
^^what he said^^
indeed this is a very special record.
5/10 is about right
I like some elements, like the ending. I akin it to an ill fitting jumper me gran knitted me for xmas. It's also dare a say a little contrived in the lyrical/vocal department....
^^...........^^
Yep I'm there with bells on cannae wait. She has a truly scrumptious voice and the LP is nothing short of gorgeous. Is there anything that gets pass the DiS radar?
Ay-up Mike
really rather cool. Whilst you are there please do try to check out Rossmann Frister Sheffs best kept secret which won't be a secret for too much longer.
Yet another example
of a Major label stitch up. I met a couple of them when they attending my bands gig in Sheff. Cool guys who were less than happy with the way their label handled em. IMO it was too early for them, they should of being giving more time to develop better songs and refine their sound.
I saw the play the Barfly a few weeks ago
and they were, sorry to say dreadful. No songs and no spark. Defo agree they are nice blokes, who now seem to regret winning a contract with a major label. Surprise surprise. What may also be galling to them is the fact that a number of the acts who appeared on the show are in better positions than they are in now. A shame...
Devestating news
My thoughts go out to Groove and his family and all those who are close to him. It was ineveiable but now that it has happened I'm in total shock. The injustice of his sentence needs to be chanllegned in some way. It's a sad sad day for Drum & Bass. So P**sed off!!!
Excellent tune
from a brilliant LP...
20 quid does seem to be on the high side.
The last time he played the venue (just b4 Xmas) he flaked out, left the stage and sauntered through a backdoor after 15mins never to return. Furtermore if my memory serves me correctly it was £12 entrance.
I guess it was not a good look
to be caught with drugs in that neck of woods especial as he appears that he was warned. The amount is of no consequence in the Emirates they have a strict zero tolerance policy he should of known better.
Thank F**K for that
It's the worst larger for a hangover the next day you feel like death. Branding is now part and parcel of large events such festivals. So lets hope that a move fitting suitor can secured.
At times this forum can be such a sad
& bitter place. If they made a brilliant LP then some of u would not buy and support it. That astounds me. Yeah so they have not made a decent record for near on a decade but they have inspired a hell of lot of bands that have. And imo they still can deserve an ear...
Quite a chore picking
5 from that list as there is no Biffy and no Kings of Leon. Which is a shame.
