Okkervil River

Very surprised by the lack of Okkervil River in the Top 50, especially as DiS is sponsoring their tour. I'm not implying that backs are scratched for such awards, just that I thought they probably had the DiS seal of approval, that's all. Plus it's a fucking great record.

No Besnard Lakes, Broken Family Band, Low etc either? Shame on you.

Oooh,

I wonder if it'll be the Mick Jones or Bernard Butler versions of 'Don't Look Back...' and 'Death On The Stairs'?!?! How exciting!

Seriously though, there's no reason for this at all is there, except the previously mentioned poverty in which Pete and Carl now reside. 'What Katie Did' is the strangest choice for me, and I'd put 'Horrorshow' and 'Vertigo' in there (and take out 'I Get Along' and 'Boys In The Band') among others, but it's a best of, so memorable singalongs and hits are the order of the day. Nice!

I was

at the Railway as well - they were great, but just didn't play for long enough I didn't think. The new album's really growing on me, and you're right about '...Knight School'. 'More Deep Cuts' is so difficult to top though, a tremendous record.

She's

also supporting Marissa Nadler at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal on Tuesday the 8th of May. I've no idea about ticket availability though.

You'll never

remember it again either if you do.

Great interview...

I'm even more curious as to how the new album is going to sound now. As long as it retains those trademark hooks and great lyrics, I'll be very happy. 'Our Velocity' is a great lead-off single, so the signs are promising indeed.

...

What happened to Longview by the way? Shouldn't they be re-releasing their debut album again soon?
