This sounds terrible.

Answer:

a) Saint Dymphna

It's Jo & Danny.

Tickets please.

OMG.

Someone has heard some music and expressed an opinion on it. What a nerd!

Nice review and a fantastic album.

However this is his second album not first. He released '1983' on Plug Research in '06 which is a very pleasant record.

lol

The video is Reinhard Voigt, not Wolfgang.

Is it me or is Wolfgang the most german looking man ever?

"the progressions made in the drum and bass world"

What progressions? Further up the sexless macho bpm cul de sac d'n'b has been stuck in since 1999?

More bassline coverage on DiS please.

I <3 Crookers. Their Euro-Crunk remix of Dusty Kid from last year is still one of my favourite tracks.

Fuck that.

Trying to sell his shit new record to indie kids is more like it.

"The likes of Kano and Lethal Bizzle have disappointed many grime fans this year because of their craven (but arguably commercially necessary) collaborations with the likes of Kate Nash, Babyshambles and Damon Albarn. Black artists can only be black, it seems, if they have been legitimised by established white artists"

Meh.

I haven't really pay any attention to the concept of this album, just the amazing arrangements and general awesomeness of it.

They slay live, I loved it.

Laura is Charlie's girlfriend though.

I'm not overly enthused by Noah & the Whale, I think they're pretty good live and this is pleasant slice of inoffensive twee with some nice little lyrics.

Is this only just coming out in the UK?

I've had a for a year or two at least. Oh well it's an amazing album so i'm glad to see it finally making it over here. Maybe he'll do some UK live shows now.

Kate Nash has now featured on more 'Grime Albums'

this year than decent Grime MCs.

Not that you could really call Kano's stuff Grime anymore, which is a shame as he still has a really good flow (when he's not Jay Z imitating)

Kano back in the day:

I wonder what David Cameron et al

would think if they saw something like this:

GRIIIIPS! BANG HIM!

This record is pretty fucking bad.

Ryhmes are lazy and half assed and when the production's not sounding dated or stupidly cheesy it sounds half finished.

There's a couple of good tracks, Pussyhole, Flex & Hardback Industry stand out, but its not the same Dizzee that made Showtime & Boy in Da Corner.

I saw these guys about a year ago,

They were awesome, far more interesting and creative than the rest of the bands on the bill. I'm glad they seem to be doing well.

Man.

This song is like two years old. I wish bands would stop getting hung up on how their single didn't get the success 'it deserved' the first time around and write some new songs instead.

This is an amazing reveiw Sam.

Such an inspiring album.

Viking Moses is amazing live.

As good as his records are they pale in comparison.

BARR was/is excellent.

It's all about the lyrics and the situations he describes. I was right at the front so could take in all his wonderful campness. If you were further back I can understand it not being so good, his live show isn't really suited to a venue that size. His vocals were too low in the mix too.

The Curtains were terrible. I don't want to think about it I was so dissapointed by them.

And Liars were excellent. As always.

The lyrics are really quite emotional too.

I find the album quite distant & icy musically, but, like the Knife record, it's a kind of sonic facade, behind which lurks an emotional heart.

Did you not see Steffan-Basho Junghans?

His guitar playing is as phenomonal as his namesake.

Bardens will let you in.

The staff are all lovely there.

Woo!

This'll be the third time i've seen them.

Why is it at Koko?

Surely you could've picked a nice venue?

Exactly:

Major Label sign shit band
Million Selling Artist is a tosser
Wankers go to big gigs and talk over bands
I think some band is Shit.

Whoa, groundbreaking stuff.

The depth of his analysis astounds me.

As ^ said there's nothing new, or funny here. Hire Charlie Brooker instead.

What is King Creosote doing on that album?

How can a man whos songs bore me to tears, whose instrumentation is tepid and lyrics insipid get so much critical acclaim?!?! I've tried to like him I really have but its just so very very dull.

Woops.

Mr. Lif is tomorrow at 93 ft. east

He's on Def Jux, the album to get is I Phantom, its definatly a landmark hip-hop album. His lyrics are political without being preachy (Jels new album anyone?) or simple sloganeering, and his flow switches between agressive and that smooth old school style.

Download: Return of The B-Boy.

How many bands

I really want to see can play on one night? Lets see:

The Most Serene Republice
Mr. Lif
Battles
and Silver Jews

Its gotta be the Jews though...

Her singles get progressively worse.

9 to Five and Hoodie have got nothing on Random, Little bit of Shhh, Cha Ching (1,2 remix), The Battle et cetera..

But isn't Blah Blah an old tune? Its been around for ages. As much as i love the poppy Basement Jaxx stuff on Public Warning her ryhmes are so very shit, plus where's the grime gone?

Two nights

at the Scala would do just fine though...

Why

does a really good DIYish promoter like ATP insist on putting gigs on in shit venues like Koko?

Good call

on Bat For Lashes, she really is brilliant.

Meh.

Boring to some perhaps, maybe those that don't understand the music?

But if you like the Books, and many do if a UK tour with almost all the dates sold out is anything to go by, then this is a really interesting insight into the thought and technique behind some really amazing music.

They

already are...
