I agree that the Elbow slam wasn't just gratuitous, but especially egregious right after praising that tepid bore Neil Young. And, after all, Elbow is one of the few fairly mainstream bands who have the same qualities as those sprung out of the Prog credo of not aiming for the lowest common denominator or sticking within the rigidly defined boundaries of Rock (such as Gabriel and Bush, for instance). If that's dull, then please; more dullness to counter the supposed excitement of those who keep plowing the same old furrow of rock n roll, thirty years after it was already overdone.
