Haha I love this!

Yeh that'd be bliss.

Fuck yesss

finally!

Wow, amazing review.

I still fucking love them, but I rather listen to their debut for the 2085985th time, than listen to their new album. Many songs feel like b-sides from some time ago. It's still great though, and much much better than most other British bands. I only hope that someday they'll make more epic/heavy songs and create another Absolute Balance. That one's fucking massive.

Hahahaha

this is great, I love Alex.

Yehhhh

I love these guys! Kind of the Dutch No Age, but slightly darker and more direct. They also manage a label/magazine called Subbacultcha which is always about great music and art. Their gigs are awesome too :)

Spot on.

A great review, of a very great album. Finally another continent other than Europe or America being represented. Definitely of my favourites of 2009.

Nice review,

but - like already said - why are The Jeweller's Hands and Dance Little Liar left unmentioned? Those are in my opinion the best and most outstanding of the album. I choose Sean. 9/10

This is nonsense.

Their inconsistency is their strength, that's exactly what makes them so much fun. On Fits, more than with their previous album, they've tried to give a feel of their live-performance (like in El Hard Attack, vicious and menacing). I think it'd be pretty boring of they made an consistent album with songs only like Regina Holding Hands or Paint Yourself. I just love this diversity.

Awful :(

Really really fucked up. I was there at their first show in Paradiso and it was amazing, so it's such a shame they can't go on performing their wonderful act. Maybe I'll go to Amsterdam and wander around until I meet them to wish them good luck.

Yes!

Seemingly one of Holland's best festivals. One day I'll be there too.

Hahaha

I laughed pretty hard xD

Rubbish.

It's a fucking great album.

The Killers' cover of Shadowplay by Joy Division..

god awful, seriously. The original is haunting and beautiful and they transformed in some kind of pop-song without any substance. Especially that chant in the chorus: taa-taa-taa-tuu-tie-tuu-tuu...blahhhh!

Pffff

why don't I live in London?!

Yes.

Pure love <3

+874

Exactly!

I dislike them soooooo much! Don't understand a thing about this sort of music at all. It's boring, unoriginal, bland and just..well..bad (at least to my ears).

Yeeeah!

They deserve it :]

The song from that last video

isn't called 'Vantage Point', it's called 'The Architect' ^^
Vantage Point is the (pretty great) album \o/

Noo!

First Be Your Own Pet, then Wolfmother, and now this?!
Bad times =(

Damn

I can't wait :o

Haha yeah

It's great.

Argh =(

Yeah?

I love it so much.
Can't wait 'till their second. The single is amazing!

Haha yeah

I though so already. But I didn't live back then, so I don't know ^^

Yaaaaay!

This is so wonderful! And (if it's just as good as their debut) they might be one of the first bands ever to release 2 brilliant records in 10 months time! \o/

That image

is hilarious x'D

Haha

damn right.

In the end

I voted for Johnny Foreigner, even though I like These New Puritans and Foals equally as much. I just can't choose between them so then I decided to vote for the band who I think is best on stage ^^ Though Foals are amazing as well and TNP pretty decent.
But I'm sure I'll have regrets tomorrow for not voting for Foals or something...

Uhuh

it's definitely a grower. A didn't understand it at first either but now I love it so much. More than Frengers really =]
Can't wait for their fifth!

Yeah!

Great review and a great album! *O* Erol Alkan did a good job, but on stage it works (of course) even better, total chaos \o/
I'm still wondering what the artwork's like though, is it cool?
'Cause the cover looks great, but just a bit..I don't know, low resolution? So Mr. Diver, how's the artwork? ('cause that's most of the time one of the reasons for me to buy a cd ^^)

But

the album cover's really cool.

Pure innovation.

Something Radiohead seem to be really good at.

Aww yeah!

Yes

Only Tokio Hotel is worse than The Feeling.

It's an 6

when you look at it critically; what it adds to the music industry. But yes, it's definitely an 8 when you look at it emotionally; what it adds to your sense of pleasure and fun. Because that's what it is basically. A great pop record with just enough variation to listen to this entire summer. I love Albert.

P.S.
The title of the last track is so great!

Ooh!

Great article! Really fun to know what exactly their favourites are :D

Yeah but

there are just too many great albums this year to list them in a Top 12. Better make a top 25 or 30 or something, including those you mentioned (+ Elbow, TLSP, These New Puritans, etc.)

I

agree.

Dictatorship!

I like that.
And these four albums are in my list of best albums of the year as well.

Legend.

<3

You forgot to mention Elbow!

1. Johnny Foreigner - Waited Up Til It Was Light
2. Foals - Antidotes
3. Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
3. These New Puritans - Beat Pyramid
4. Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
5. Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now, Youngster...
But fuck, also Lightspeed Champion, Portishead, The Kills, Last Shadow Puppets and No Age... It's too hard!

Mmmm

A picknick would be nice.

No

he's still life.

Yeah

It actually does.
Haha :']

Pfff

What an aweful review, you don't describe the songs or the sound of the album at all which is most important to me. Of course the album is much less than their on stage-performance (it's blues instead of punk) but it's still pretty good, especially Tiny Little Robots and Lotus. So yeah, I could agree with a 5 or 6 (although it's definitely a 7 to me) but a 3?! I'm guessing you just dislike this band instead of really think they're bad.

I hate comparisons...

Why does Tokyo Police Club always HAVE to be compared with Bloc Party? They're two completely different bands from other parts of the world and should be respected in their own perspective. It makes no sense to me at all. Of course the drum & bass are similar sometimes, but isn't all (indie-)poprock like that? It's not like Tokyo Police Club wants to be like Bloc Party or something. They just want to make good music. And, to me, they succeed greatly thusfar ^^

Haha

Very funny review! But in my opinion also very wrong. Elpehant Shell is one of the greatest compact popalbums of the past years. Just listen to the infectious drumbeats and the funky bass! And I love the lyrics as well, nothing wrong with it. It's very short, but every song is great and why would it have to be something heavenly and unique? Just a simple, well done record is great as well isn't?
I love TPC ^^

Hm!

I meant 'which' of course...
And I forgot to mention Beat Pyramid and Age of the Understatement! Also two of the best albums I've heart this year \o/
