and...?
What infurates me is HOW will isps know that what files are illegally downloaded and what files are not? Music blogs for example, mostly work with PR agencies and bands / djs themselves to post promotional teasers in the form of mp3s to their readers. Is that considered "illegal file sharing " as well? I ask because it is not uncommon for blogs to get DMCA notices DESPITE having beern given permission (in writing as well) to post them. Will this bill mean that websites like blogs will be banned indiscriminately? I understand what this bill is trying to get at but to alienate a whole country's citizens for the capitalist interests of the few corporations is shocking. Its like saying "so you won't buy our products? Then we'll punish you until you have no choice".
what is with Drowned in Sound "reviewers" these days
DUDE - seriously, fuckin do some research man.
The only reason Kap Bambino "slipped under your radar" was because you were too busy trying to get scene points to namedrop Crystal Castles in your "article".
On Kap Bambino
QUOTE: [...Wow… a Crystal Castles tribute band already!]
WTF? Get Kap Bambino has been around for ages, probably as long as (or even before) Crystal Castles.
And IMHO, Kap Bambino is way better than CC. CC is all hype, no substance
Booo!
if it wasn't the horrors
who made this record - would it have been a big deal? of course it would. we would have nothing to base our shitty, pathetic judgements on. this is a fucking GREAT album, it is mature and was way better than I had expected and yet i always knew that the whole fashion thing was a clever PR set up.
of course the haters will continue to hate: its a HOW DARE YOU EVEN TRY TO MAKE SUCH AMAZING MUSIC YOU'RE NOT WORTHY OF.
this album is a clever, cool fuck you to all that.
i love it.
flogging a dead horse
its all downhill after the Holy Bible. this is over-hyped album not an exception. Steve Albini was a good choice, its an okay-ish rock album, and yes Richey's lyrics have finally come to light but I honestly dont think they were given the justice they deserved.
come on - apart from Peeled Apples, Marlon JD and All Is Vanity this album is sadly, limp. its like, left to realize richey's lyrics, they kinda buckled under the sheer weight of richey's, what? legacy?
and I SERIOUSLY THINK the Manics should STOP using the whole Richey thing to sell their music. the Holy Bible 10th Anniversary release was only quite recent. and then this. it makes me feel - cheated.
the gossip disappoints me now
the gossip has turned into a "hair band" - too cool haircuts, going on the dance route (a year late might I add), a fashion line for fucks sake, with supermodels and bratty "socialites" in tow.
they used to be real - sorry but its true. their earlier releases were so fucking raw and amazing and SITWOC may not have been "earth shattering" but it was the album that got "the queers, the freaks" together.
and then that NME cover thing. that was just too much.
the new album is too controlled and too polished, and maybe yes, there is less of Beth's signature, impromptu whoo-ings and ahh-ings belt outs and in some way - that kinda killed it. The gossip garage punk sound.
is DiS trying to be another VICE with this review?
christ. what is up, man. there is seriously some hatred going on in that review. its too meaninglessly harsh, ages-ist, full of cliched elitism. and in the first place, where did the whole interpol reference came from? i cannot detect the slightest bit of interpol and i dont think the band intended to be epic anyway.
this is melodious, pretty pop with quivering vocals and it aint THAT bad.

what about competition laws?
our right to (access) freedom of information?
are the isps willing to cover the costs of implementing these "policing" strategies by way of illegal privacy invading devices?
and WHO is going to bear the costs of compensation when an individual is wrongly accused? the TAXPAYER again?
if they're going to ban websites, they might as well ban Google and all the other search engines out there because they're the ones that made searching for illegal files possible, isn't it?
cutting off internet supply to one individual is not as easy as one may think. hardcore filesharers will STILL be able to get on the internet by various ways using proxies, prefix hijacking and all that kinda shit while innocent people who has got nothing to do with it get fucked.
