What he said ^^^^
Not convinced about the Bloc Party cover though.
The album is hard work
But I'm finding I like it a little bit more each listen. The singles are awesome, I agree!
Shame
I think they're great and I'd go to one of the farewell gigs but the nearest one is London. At least, I think that's the nearest one - I'm about to find out where Farndale is...
Damn
After reading this, I'm even more disappointed about leaving it too late to buy tickets for the Portsmouth show!
Also looking forward to this
There are samples of all the tracks on the band's website and it's sounding good!
Aargh!
No show in Southampton or Portsmouth!
Execution album
One of my favourites. I hope the new one is a bit less like More Adventurous (too polished) and more like Execution.
Not quite sure of the lyrics, but it is something about bears I think.
Try here
This is the website for the band's old record label. Click on the Online Shop link and you should find the album (called The Bright Carvings) on sale for £7, plus postage and packing.
I hope they deliver to France!
Their first album
Is absolutely great! I think you would like it, Lyle.
Their new album is coming out soon and I'm looking forward to it very much.
Hooray!
Really looking forward to this. I've got her last three albums and I've liked each one more and more as she's progressed.
Also she looks spookily exactly like a friend of mine. It's a freakily close likeness.
I love Crowded House too
Together Alone is one of my favourite albums - melodic, atmospheric and interesting.
Private Universe is probably my fave song of theirs, just beautiful.
Oh yes
Also looking forward to this and hoping it's more like Execution than More Adventurous.
My six
Laura Veirs - Year of Meteors (2nd vote for her!)
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Patrick Wolf - Wind in the Wires
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Rilo Kiley - Execution of all Things
Idlewild - 100 Broken Windows (think it sneaks in the 6 years)
Good news!
Bit worried by the naysayers who've seen him live this year but I'm really looking forward to this. As it happens I was listening to Wind in the Wires when I noticed the news. I'll take that as a good omen!
More exclusive..
I can understand that, I suppose. And I guess it adds to the cost if you get vinyl and CDs pressed rather than just one or the other.
September?
I want the new album sooner. I cannot wait. Cracking review that has really cranked up my anticipation levels for their next album.
Ho hum
I was just thinking 'Ooh this sounds interesting' then 'But it's probably only available on vinyl'. Just like the new Dead! Dead! Dead! single.
Why???
I was excited and then...
I got to the bit that says the supplement will come out 4 times a year. So all it'll be useful for is interviews and features, rather than reviews, news etc. Shame as I love the Independent.
I am beyond saving
I've only heard this a couple of times (not sure how that's happened) but I absolutely love it. Oh dear, I'm such a fan of bedwetter indie...
Nowhere near me
Hey, Lyle recommended Marissa to me the other day and I would go and see her but sh's playing NOWHERE NEAR ME! Sniff.
Re: Keane to get mean
For the record, I'm looking forward to their next album especially if it's not the same old, same old.

Re: Lamacq goes five days a week on 6music
I can't seem to get XFM on my digital radio but I listen to it online every now and then and I'm not impressed. It seems to be all Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand etc with very little from more obscure bands.
Re: Top 40 Malarky: The week where it all went jus
Also, I still haven't heard anything by this Willy Mason fellow. Very slack of me. Was thinking of going to his gig n Southampton but it had sold out by the time I got my backside in gear. Whoops.

Re: Athlete - Tourist
And maybe the accountants etc will buy Tourist, then check out Athlete's first album and broaden their music horizons a bit by checking out a few other bands.
Kaiser Chiefs sign up for 'Employment' April tour
South By South West shapes up
Re: Idlewild January UK Dates
I've now got the other 2 full albums (but not Captain yet) and I like them all a lot but I think Remote Part is my fave. I'm so soft...
REALLY looking forward to seeing them live!
The best 25 British songs of the last 25 years: ea
Same with Queen - I really like Don't Stop Me Now and The Show Must Go On.

Shame
Not really liking the Bangles song either! But thanks for putting it up, anyway.
