scarlett

will never top her role in the horse whisperer. that film was the feature event at my 10th birthday...

probably not

they are exclusive tracks
some might have been posted before, but they won't have been the finished versions

support on

glasgow/manchester/sheffield/london dates is bon iver ;)

dear colin

what?

but she won't be on horseback

will she.

rubbish.

it's just a bit... dull

6 or 7 out of ten, not a patch on sung tongs.

calm down

album is out on the 17th september!

I saw them at the old blue last

on wednesday - enjoyed, but only caught last two songs. Going to see them tonight at the dublin castle methinks..

shut yr trap!!!

BdR were every bit what I wanted them to be...

my bad...

must have found dodgy info online...

really fucking neat

if i don't get to go
i will cut stuff up

i very much

love this too

yes

kiefer sutherland was there!

sometimes

it isn't possible to get to a venue in time for the first bands depending on your job and other commitments.

sometimes a review is too overwhelming when it trys to cover so many artists too

yeah

thats my birthday!!!!!!!1!11!!!!1!

kabooom!

i know who YOU are...

yes, absolutely

i had a can of red bull for every half pint of beer,

i was a wonderful fucking state.

i didn't miss diplo!

i didn't even miss the end of the set
i stayed, and stayed

and then led on the floor in the middle of the site whilst people took photos of me

i'd given up taking photos by that point though...

well,

a. i don't want to be subjected to the sunshine underground

and

b. might work in north east london and be unable to travel to hammersmith for the start of a gig.

and

c. a review of all four bands would have potentially doubled the length of this review, meaning no-one would have been arsed to read it.

ace

ace single

yup

there have been a few copies floating around, but it is getting a slightly more 'proper' release.

whoop

^5

me too!

and the oppurtunity arises sooneth

as they are playing at white heat TOMORROW

you are correct

not a twin, real bjork

hang on mr withpaperwings

my admittedly awkwardly phrasing re. scaling in a whole spectrum, is not in regards to musical style, but in reference to scaling a spectrum of moods.

which this record does.

so gabba and throat singing doesn't really come into it, ta.

when my ex

proclaimed that he didn't like female vocals in rock music, that parasite got removed.

sleater-kinney. fucking sleater kinney is my singular no-need-for-any-other-example argument.

but the dancing was good

because foals are ACE
ps I finished all the wine in the world

you should

play here TOO!
that would be nice.

I was there!

IT WERE BRILL!

lyle...

the album is quite a surprise after the singles (to me)... final track sao paulo is something you should really listen to before making yr mind up about them...

Albums wouldn't die

if there weren't so many fucking shit ones!

As Sean mentioned earlier, a lot of albums are inherently weak - the music doesn't hold up for that length of time. Many, many albums are the singles + filler.

Stop releasing dross as an album, people will appreciate albums as a whole entity more.

my logic?

deerhoof were the most FUN thing I could think of
hot chip are in a fairly mainstream position now after 'over and over' had so much airplay.

nick, you obviously like a lot of great things looknig at your ratings. When you compare the automatic to, say, Maximo Park though - don't you think that MP are miles ahead? Insanely catchy choruses, a touch of intelligence, variety, excitement.

I was going to say quality of music is subjective, but i'm not so sure the more I think about it.

funnily enough

I just don't like the killers or the magic numbers. I'm so revolutionary! It's not cool to lick up each last drop of the shit you're fed.

Cyndi has more than one song.

dear nickd

LOL

If this is fun to you, listen to it. I want to die when I hear it, sorry.

I refer to a specifc lyric being repeated ad infinitum. The chorus is played 3 times, the lyric is repeated 4 times in each chorus. That's 12 repeats of the same line. It's not even funny!

Wack.

I'm off to listen to Cyndi Lauper.

yes

I vote for this movement

i think it has no worth whatsoever

I know thats at the extreme end of opinion, but it's been rubbed in my face by radio and television, it just gets worse the more I hear it.

I think possibly the reason why it is a 0 for me, is that it does maintain pretences that it is a worthwhile bit of songwriting. Inspecting the lyrics reveals incredibly little, the chorus is the most tired and rehashed thing I've heard this year.

I LOVE POP and thats why I wanted to decry this piece of shit masquerading as pop.

But at the end of the day

listen to what you will. regret it later.

I prefer James Blunt

Really.

And I love Franz Ferdinand, I quite like Kaisers. I think Arctic Monkeys have some cracking pop songs. Don't claim that I hate everything mainstream, that's far from true!

This isn't a good pop song, and (as I said), it's not fun, it's shit. Can't imagine anyone choosing to listen to it, I really can't. I'm sure you'll all have forgotten about it in a few months time. To say it makes me want to die isn't much of an exaggeration at all.

Mike understands precisely. Weezer are one of my favourite bands ever, they have big fat choruses, but also a wry sense of humour and some actual energy rather than forumlaic triteness.

i have a gun

and will.

what i was thinking..

is that it fits a strange slot in purpose - it's not something you want to dance to much, it's not something to listen to intently all the time, certainly not to rock out to. It's not just some general ambience to work to.

I listen to it to put make-up on. It fits this purpose perfectly.

I really like it (obvs, see review), but I agree it can not always be entirely absorbing.

I wrote this review in picture form first

whilst I was sat in an old castle (technically at work)

ben... you are a much more reasoned writer than me, and you make sense and have opinions i trust. plus, you always get stuff in on time! So shush you!

if you heard it

you might see what I mean.
I barely know what I mean.
What I do know, is that I like this record very much.

ummm... you read into it all too much

as a whole back catalogue, I prefer B+S. And my favourite belle and seb record is fold your hands.... which no-one else seems to love.

Camera Obscura sound great here, and I prefer this specific song to Life Pursuit. Simple as.

it was not pop music

it was dull.
pop music is not dull.

I've seen them 3 times in this last week

Best performance was at the Adventures Close to Home clubnight in Brighton/GreatEscape.

They have some incredible songs, i think they have what is known as potential.

My friends like them too.

yeah

a potentially serious offer.
I only came up with the idea today, but since exams are over by then, it kind of makes sense.

i'm thinking

I might go on friday, then drive my car to oxford on saturday morning.

you can all subsidize my petrol costs if you like...

GRGGRRR

this line-up is better than truck.

Way to ruin my day.

heeeheheheeeeehheeeeee
