surely the best bit
is the way the beer bottle is censored at the end
says lotz about middle america and stuff, huh?
I really like this review
Reviews that are good standalone bits of writing, ftw!
132/180
YAY!
Is Nick Cave the only 50 year old male
who is able to dance well?
whilst i agree the score is inflated
more problematic is the suggestion that Islands or Unicorns weren't dark.
What made them so damn terrifying was the constant obsession with death set against the upbeat tunes, and I think that's been lost this time round
it sounds like Nico
and is nowhere near as bad as the album's title track.
A fuck buttons review
without the word "euphoric", crazy.
Still, ye got blissful in!
YAY!
you picked up on what i said about it really not being a weirdly titled album! I feel so intelligent!
where's the Zion Arts Centre?
you're missing the point
it's not an absurd title, because it is definitely about something, it's not just some weird ridiculous image plucked out of nowhere.
errr
in what way is the title absurd?...it's a Biblical reference (which is in itself a reference to ancient greek beliefs). Bees and lions have been connected symbolically for a very very very long time.,
Suki from the real heat
i have snogged her! WOAH!
they remind me of sleater-kinney
throwing muses etc
also her lyrics totally aren't tame
and i wouldn't say the hooks were in all the right places. it's hardly pop
also i know a few girls who *really* dig this
this was really awesome last year
i drank too much cider though
YAY!!!!
:D:D:D:D:D:D
*GENERALLY* people are obsessed with notions of how it ought to sound
meaning that lots of it is just as identikit, dull and uninspiring musically and lyrically as the current state of mainstream indie music.
reporting of any sort is about the subjective experience
it's far more telling, interesting and engaging to read somebody's imaginative response to music than to hear the same tired adjectives being reeled out again and again.
Lovely review
But no mention of Jimmy?
course you don't need to have flow
"flow" is the whole reason so much hip-hop is so dull.
it's hardly a hiphop record anyway...
um
theirs shouldn't have an apostrophe.
Larsen B is is shit
and i'm 99% sure it's a joke. They told the Fly that the album is going to be called DO. YOU. LIKE. ROCK. MUSIC.
Hopefully it'll be called Bring Me The Head of British Sea Power.
it slows down and speeds up
i think that's fantastic :D
i knew about this already
because a girl behind me on the megabus was friends with him and was yapping into her phone about it for FOUR hours. it was really irritating
hmm
24 hour gig marathon...
He was great when I saw his supporting Devastations
but everyone talked over him when I saw him support 65dos :(
Sorry to be totally base
but the photo of them in the bath is rather alluring
she is like totally touring
as part of a Leaf Records tour too! It looks exciting!
yeah!
It's totally gorgeous and a really really weird gig-going atmosphere. I'm mega looking forward to it. Are you coming then?
they have a song called High Royds
LOL :D
That's an old mental hospital just down the road from where I live :D
What I mean is that the music is really lovely and good
But doesn't have any longevity. It has an exhaustible amount of emotional and musical things to discover from it for me. I still really like it, but the "this is the most amazing, special thing i've ever heart" factor has really worn off.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say this
But listening again to Silent Shout, i was kind of bored. I'm wondering if it's just a very lush one trick pony...
i'm going on holiday at 2 am
And can only go to the shows on the 29th, 30th and 2nd. But really only on the 2nd.
Someone get me a ticket?
err
and it totally isn't one off. she's touring and also playing Glasgow, Gateshead and Manchester with the Northern Sinfonia.
I agree
and where is The Decline of British Sea Power?
gigs in hull are ACE
lightning bolt in hull is one of the most perfect experiences of my life
go buy it
everyone YUMM.
It is like discovering a slightly scratched very old dusty record of some glorious old American poetry set to music by a forgotten Eastern European composer.
Get Darkness At Noon next
YES YES YES!!!
Patrick wolf and volcano!
are too low down so far. But maybe when I see the rest of the list i'll change my mind.
