The Others - The Others
The Others: Utterly Shite.
Unimaginative, uninspired drivel. No noticable song structures, blah lyrics with nothing to say repeated at infinitum. The musical equivalent of the Queens of Noize. Devoid. Of. Talent.

WE BELIEVE IN MUSIC (or why it’s really, really important that you buy the Bloc Party LP this week).
I agree whole-heartedly with Sean's thoughts. I'm not sure whether it matters in the long run whether the album tops the chart or not - BP don't seem the sort of band that cares that much about numbers - but I think Silent Alarm deserves to be heard by as many people as possible.
If you're out there trying to resist buying/listening to the album purely because you'd rather swim against the current, don't bother. For once, the hype surrounding BP isn't just hyperbole - it's totally deserved.

The Rise And Fall Of The Scene With No Name
Movement schmoovement, that's what I say. I mean come on, there's no such thing. Ask any band whether they feel part of something bigger and they'll all come out with the immortal line, 'nah we're just doing our own thing, knowwotimean?' And no matter how much anyone feels the need to analyse the musical zeitgiest, the idea of a unifying musical movement (with the exception of, say, punk rock in the 70s) is pure fallacy. Well written article, though. And RIP the 'clusky and the colt.
Razorlight cancel show; you're gutted, I'm sure...
Oh right, so the Razorlight backlash has begun then? Didn't think it would take this long, to tell the truth.
Gee, how fickle...

Exclusive: Bloc Party to play Barfly gig
That's a fuckin disgrace. After refreshing my browser for 5mins on the website, it finally said 'buy tickets' and let me in. I filled it all out in a flurry only to be told that it's sold out. At 10:10. Well gee, thanks very much.
WHY DID THEY LET PEOPLE BUY TEN TICKETS!?

Idlewild
Granted, times change, and so do bands, but you only have to look at the changing Idlewild logo to see what's happened here:
Hope Is Important: big scribbled messy 'rock' logo
Warnings/Promises: bland typed logo signifying nowt but blah...
I'm all for chance, but a band *can* grow up and still sound something like they used to. The reason the fans feel disppointed by W/P is that the band's changed way too radically. Where are the riffs?!
