It's on Spotify! Yes!

Jiggery Pokery is quite amazing. The climax made me do an office LOL.

Efterklang are to 'do a Grizzly Bear'

Er, tickets for this have been on sale for weeks. Grizzly Bear was only announced yesterday.

I like GB n all but I shan't allow them to steal Efterklang's thunder, for they are the greatest live band around.

I did a read of the review;

then I did a listen on the Spotify;
then I did a purchase on the internet.

Never heard of them before. Really really like it.
If you're a fan on Wedding Present / Wave Pictures / Hefner then it should tick all your boxes.

Great review.

It's this year's In Ghost Colours for me.

A few weak tracks on there but it's growing on me with every listen. No doubt they'll end up being my favorites.

Also, hate to be the grammar pedant (I love it really), but the apostrophe on Childrens' is in the wrong place.

I was all excited then.

Thought it might have been brought forward because of a leak or the like.

Is My Sad Captains out to buy with real money already?

I thought it had a mid-June release.

Well into the previous 2 LPs but I'm struggling to get excited by this one.

I think these lines of the review sum it up perfectly: "Most of the songs aren’t particularly worse - or better - than any other song on the album; they just amount to a fairly pleasant experience...a failure to match the vitality that was at the core of A Certain Trigger."

Gave it a listen at lunch time...

...and I'm inclined to say that I may have given it an unfair dismissal first time around.

Once I put the slightly 'difficult' vocal (to these ears at least) to the back of my mind I found that the instumentation is really rather brilliant. I'll be giving it more of my time for sure.

Although in music reviewing comparisons are oft frowned upon I think Field Music are a worthy comparison when it comes to how they execute such an abundance of ideas.

Hat's off to you both on the new layout.

I really like the band link and label link at the top of reviews. They way things all link (band page -> label page -> to see bands on that label -> to go to another band -> to read one of those band's reviews etc etc) is great.

One small technical hitch I've found. In IE6 (where else?) The "Recent albums" bit (under the revolving Feature banner) doesn't link to the review. The HoverOver bit works fine, giving me the artist & title below, but the linkies are nee there.

A really good review.

I heard the album via the leak a month or so ago (sorry!) and, after all the message board love, I was a bit disapointed that I didn't really take to it at all. The vocals didn't sit well with me (as touched on in this review) and I think I thought the whole thing was a little over produced.

After reading this I'm going to have to give it a few more listens to see if I was wrong or if this really isn't my toast spread of choice.

This sounds interesting indeed.

Nice review.

Nothing but the highest respect for this man. An absolutle genius.

"Do you think you’ll be doing any festivals?
I don’t know yet, which ones, but I have a feeling yes."

END OF THE ROAD, PLEASE! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Adam Pierce on technical duties?

OH. MY. GODS! Cannot wait for this!

Fan fact: Adam Pierce is an anagram of Mice Parade.

Audrey have a new album out?

WHHAAAAAAATTTT?!!?!!
<investigates>

Really well written piece.

The review, comments and general comparisons are making this a must purchase on Saturday -- if it's out already that is.

Interesting.

Pitchfork say, "The Airborne Toxic Event is an album that's almost insulting in its unoriginality," but DiS say, "a more pop sensible National or even a less pretentious Arcade Fire."

It would be rude not to check them out really.
Roll on home time.

</centre>

Great article.
Nice idea for a feature series too.

Sean, your rage is ignorant

lulz.

They blew me away

when I saw them at Summer Sundae.

6 does seem a little low having read the review...

...but then who really cares about the number at the end? Surely it's all about the review and not the score?

In my ears this is a good record.
Enjoyed them at Summer Sundae.

The Bobby McGees

I really don't understand why everyone is so crazy about them. I've had to sit through them once when they were supporting Darren Haymen at the Buffalo Bar. Dreadful. Painful. Annoying. Not funny.

The vehemence of my hatered toward this band knows no bounds. And you're right, they were FUCKING EVERYWHICH WAY I TURNED.

I'm not normally one to rant but MAN they get my goat.

</catharsis>

Thanks god for that.

and thanks for satiating

But I need more I tell you...

MORE!!!

Streaming Album

Don't suppose any one knows if there is anywhere i can listen to this album via some good old streaming internet malarky?

I want to whet my appetite before the physical release on the 18th.

I forgot to close my sarcasm tags again

</sarcasm>

Fixed

Having had their...

...career played back to me in soundbite form like that, I can't help but think how much they sound like The Beatles.

Blew my bollocks off at ATP.

Love the records but wasn't expecting them to be THAT good live.

Did you have a rule where no two of you were allowed the same track?

Or did it just turn out like that?

A perfect night.

I've not put on Takk in ages; mostly due to the excessive play it gets on the BBC.

This show made me realise that it still is, no matter what any one says, an incredible record.

A) Glastonbury Festival

Not that I'll win. I never win anything on this site.

</reverse psychology>

"dodgy harmonies"

Are they good enough for you?
They're good enough for me.

:D

The missus dragged me to see them last week,

at the Hertford Marquee. I was very much undecided on the whole thing; the few demos and mySpace bits I'd heard didn't get me too excited.

After seeing them live consider me decided: they're freaking awesome.

"managerial ear spank"

^ :)

^^ true dat

I give this comment 7/10;
the review 4/10;
the album 8/10;
the fact that it's Friday 9/10;
and rating things out of 10: 1/10.

Could Artrocker publish a sentence this long?

"Deep breath, and release: of course I didn’t send a missive the way of ‘Your Essential Indie Bible’ – which DiS is very grateful for receiving every month, as it gives us a good couple of days’ reading over our Sainsbury’s sandwiches and diet pop breaks – but even weeks later I’m still a little burnt by the seemingly unprovoked attack on a publication – that it’s online doesn’t especially factor into my consideration since I’m an old-school sort raised on inkies; I thought Web 2.0 was some secret mission on a Spider-Man console game until The Powers That Be set me straight – that I believe to be one of the best of its kind, written with a passion that infects everything from the smallest ‘zine to the glossiest monthly, but presented without barriers: you don’t like our opinion, brilliant, tell us yours."

One colon, one semi colon, four hyphens and some italics. Stick that up your indie-bible pipe!

PS - I've never read Artrocker, it sounds twatty.

^

get you!

Seeing as everyone is laying into this review...

"Thus Hefner’s record’s" needs to lose an apostrophe.
</pedant>

Also, FW is super great.

The Weight

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?
Need to hear that.

Can I be...

...the first to quietly sidestep the issue in the comments above and just say, er, Yay!

If DiS want to give love to LC!, bum related or other, that's their business.

I've liked what I've heard...

...but, M Ward, please stop with this nonsense and put out your OWN record. It's been two years since Post War.

Whenever I see...

..."New SOL Album" I get very excited - then I remember that it's Our Ill Wills, which has been about for ever.

So very ace mind.

Amazing festival.

And not wanting to sound greedy but, just the one act in the annoucement?

'review to run next week on DiS'

I really hope you like it after all that.

Good interview. Very telling of why these programmes exist: advertising, phone votes etc etc etc

ALBARN?

It's..er..<i>Alban</i> Arena.
Well, the last time I went past it hadn't undergone some sort of Blur rebrand. I may be wrong [hopes]

"General public creates another unimaginative consensus"

They should launch the poll again...this time not allowing the always obvious rotating top 20 to be included in the vote. Then see what happens.

ATP vs EITS...

...update next please!

Although i am overly excited at the line up already I....need......more......BANDS!!
