yes.
Fuck likeable.
duly noted
I'm hoping they are willing to discount them on the grounds they make the Arctic Monkeys look like Thom Yorke.
very clearly
the Arctics.
- Yorke's effort only came out last week, and there's the off chance he'll either not turn up or deliver a vaguely inflammatory acceptance speech.
- Scritti Politti? They're still going?
- Sway's alright, but he's got nothing on Dizzee Rascal, either commercially or artistically.
- Hot Chip are an outside bet. They're just slightly too out there.
- Lou Rhodes? Ho?
- Muse are too successful and overblown to win something as "cultured" as this. They're going to win at hatful of awards elsewhere anyway.
- Izzy's been shoved in to make up numbers.
- I will kill myself if Editors win. You have my word.
- As with Yorke, Guillemots are too recent, too much of a gamble.
- zo gaman? richard haly? Ho? Ho??
yeah but
Arctics. With depressing predictability.
I hate this band
even more since they released this. Not because I actually expected it to be any good, but it has completely soured the Coral single of the same name which is everything- lovely, catchy, summery pop tinged with walk-of-shame melancholy- that this wants to be but isn't.
that's a fucking awful album title
and that's the truth.
meanwhile
the other BPI, the British Pornographic Institute, just goes from strength to strength.
^ yes.
You give these guys far more credit than they're worth. Carve away the "we're wacky, us, yet another wonky coda going nowhere" crap and there's a couple of good if overproduced singles and precious little else. It sometimes also me think of Coldplay going jazz, which is something no album should ever, ever make me think.
try
My Latest Novel - Learning Lego
Grandaddy - Ok With My Decay
Howling Bells - In The Woods
Great, interesting, and melodious.
I really like Fambly Cat.
It's been on my player for quite some time. It could have done with a bit of quality control, but I don't suppose there was any need to hold back anymore. Summer...It's Gone ranks as one of their best.
yeah
get away, krazy person
er
that last line was a bit naff. Director's Cut: The Automatic are shit.
so
to the pillock on the Monster review, here is a person who didn't mind it. He still thinks the album's dreck.
Never let it be said that DiS fails to hammer diverse nails into its coffins.
Review from some magazine:
"As well as being the kind of swooping, epic and thoroughly forgettable grown-up pop that other bands do better, it is also a big fat anomaly. Because, as you might've guessed from their names (Fyfe Dangerfield, Lord Margrao, Rican Caol and Aristazabal Hawkes), the remainder of the Guillemots "ouvre" is overly zany odd-pop that is so convinced of its own wackiness it might as well come with a free spinning bow-tie."
I'd hate to go with NME over DiS, but...
didn't
another annoying up-and-coming young boy band with silly haircuts give their bassist the push recently?
Omgz heavens aligning
great picture.
They could have saved it, they really could.
wow.
Another eight reasons to avoid Ibiza forever.
alright bitch
YOU come up with an equally interesting story about a pop punk band that happened today.
wow.
DiS didn't even review the album, did they? Q and NME did, and if I remember correctly, weren't exactly overwhelming in their praise. You think they'd be better targets. Really, you've got to be fairly lame to target an indie website for a perceived slight, whether you're doing it for more exposure or not.
what charming gentlemen
they're obviously intelligent and hard working fellows who want only to bring their thought provoking artistry to the people
I side with them entirely
I quite like the Scissor Sisters
They make good time pop as camp as it should be. I much prefer to have them on the radio than The Feeling
it has to be said
that this review and subsequent debate made me go and have a listen to this when I otherwise wouldn't have bothered.
So thanks, guys, that's a good three minutes I'm not getting back.
I wouldn't
she looks a bit like Rebecca Wade on the Guardian article
Blood Meridian is worth it just for the video. Haven't laughed that hard for a long time
Some Cities
did very well commercially, didn't it? Better than The Last Broadcast if memory serves.
It wasn't their best, but it did have a fair few excellent tracks. I'm still gay for Snowden.
I've seen a topless drummer
but he looked quite good.
Bring back septic clit, that's what I say.
:(
loads of bands are splitting up this year...is it the weather?
^ that's what he wants people to think.
the only people buying his stuff nowadays are the tossers who think he'll be Kurt Cobain in six months time.
I wouldn't associate myself with that song
even if I had written it.
More fool to the fuckwits who were stupid enough to rip it off.
christ
the guy isn't a modern day Dylan. He's barely a modern day Steely Dan.
I like it
but methinks Diver got himself a bit of a crush.
go die somewhere
and take your children with you.
poor old Embrace
they want only to be loved.
and you've
contracted American dreams, UH
and the Infadels?
I thought you guys were gay for them.
I'd pay
to see the Pipettes sucking off a goat
ouch.
Nice to see someone taking a stand, at least.
Dundalk
but not Leicester?
*sob*
I've said it before and I'll say it again
I think Demon Days is really quite good.
The rest sucks donkey balls, but you know that.
