I've never heard/read Roddy be so honest abot the band and their records and it was nice to hear him talk about the band from the beginning. I always thought he might be uncomfortable about talking about days gone by but he does seem to think the history of the band as something special.

James Morrison isn't that bad, nice soulful pop tunes - nothing too offensive. The one about it being 'a wonderful world but i can't see it right now..' is a good song. I'd prefer Paulo Nutini to win cos he is Scottish and seems a nice lad.

i am also hoping this is good. The Smashing Pumpkins are on of the best bands ever but i have to say i thought Machina was very disappointing. I am bit worried about taking in 2 new members - i know D'Arcy and James Iha didn't add that much to the recording and songwriting process but they were still part of the Smashing Pumpkins.

I hope it is less Machina and more tender and fragile moments like the Gish/Siamese era. songs like Obscured, Crush, Suffer, Luna, Whir etc etc.

i don't think TOTP will be missed that much. A highlight back in the day was watching the Christmas Day special but I haven't done that for years because most chart music is shit these days, but maybe I'm getting old.

There are a lot more music programmes on the box these days and in terms of live performances and interviews they piss all over TOTP. Jools, Popworld, CD:UK (is this still on? ) and even all those live clone shows on Channel 4 (T4 live mobile album tranmission on a beach etc etc)
