Went to see them the other day. Pretty damn good. I think 'warnings/promises' is probably their best album.

Limp and boring pretty much sums coldplay up. Musically, I cant stand chris martin, I saw him accepting an award not long ago on tv, and he went into some self-important speech claiming ironically that he couldnt be at the show because he was 'busy saving the world', he then said how he would be 'floating' above the audience tutting disapprovingly at pete doherty. I mean what a pretentious twat. At least doherty has passion which shows through in his music, unlike martin's colourless display of bland diluted formulaic pop-rock.

And the thing is, you just know he can get away with singing something as stupid as “I feel like a piñata", without sounding stupid.

this band is loved by me and i am glad they are back.
i am sure the album will be great and good luck to them.

You don't know anything about what went on.
If you actually knew me you would know I did take responsibility for my actions, did any of the other people involved, I don't fucking think so.
Maybe I collect dolls because real people are such a profound fucking disappointment.
I know other people involved with The Face who complained about them and regardless of the personal issues involved, the magazine was just not as good as it could have been for a lot of reasons.

ever seen a band where the only truly audiable instrument is the bass ?....it drowned out the guitar drums and vocals for a good part of the first song , and thats why i reckon its one of the worst bass mixes ive witnessed.
it got sorted out during the next track and biffy went on to be really good - good enough to convert my anti-biffy mate.

i wasnt trying to be smart it was a comment on the fact that the bass mix really was murky and over powering when they came on or at least thats what me and my mates thought. thats all, plus what the point in making it personal....ya c*** ;)

Bringing the same crap, tired, class snobbery and stereotypes as far too many reviewers succumb to is the problem, I'm sure it would be perfectly easy to write a negative review without resorting to such desperate levels.

yeah its my personal opinion i admit. but newayz, i have seen slipknot live here (Australia) and i thought they were so fukn energetic and thats what made me get into them properly. 9 members is alot but sure they could be just as good without their two custom percussionists but i just reckon that 9 members just make Slipknot who they are. Fukn krazy.

Ive heard Slipknot been called pop before but i think that is wrong. Sure they ARE popular because of how controversal they are plus their image but proper pop is shit that you would hear on radio all the time. For example: Pussy Punk/Rock. Deftones, great band, but Slipknot are just the classic Bang-your-head aggressive metal band. I dont care if you hate slipknot coz alotta my friends hate em too but i just love the fukn band coz i listen to the talent that comes out of the band. Having nine members playing together really tight, both live and studio, must take alot of skill and talent to pull off.

i saw them play at the windmill last week. They were pretty damn fine. The support band called Dogs (who?) tho were in-fucking-credible. Pretty hard to describe... I guess I felt the same seeing dogs as when i first watched a Jam video. Loads of energy, tough and catchy as fuck. Pretty hard act for Distophia to follow, but loved the sonic youth-cum-weezer vibe.
Looks like, as Tom said, it's time for British music to come back with a bang...well, if these bands are anything to by. Anyone got the inside line on dogs? Never heard of them...they gotta be signed. info pleezzzzz

Things haven't really kicked off yet.

There's a top-up EP to the Urban Renewal comp that came out on Chocolate Industries/Ninja Tune last year which is fucking superb, but apart from that there seems to be a lot of good albums (Murs, RJD2, Def Jux III, Madvillain, Vast Aire, Format mix CD) about to come out, rather than a lot of essential ones.

Check out Brother Ali if you haven't. It came out last year but it's brilliant - he's an albino born-again Muslim signed to Rhymesayers and it's super-aggressive, positive-message stuff that has to be heard to be believed at times. Ant does the beats so the production's similar to Atmosphere's Seven Travels.

Oh and if you're a Quannum fan pick up Livesavas - nothing new, but it's slick and Vursatyl has a nice flow. I preferred that to both the Gift of Gab and Lyrics Born solo LPs.

I think it's sad The Face is closing. In it's time it was a brilliant magazine and it probably could have been again. But it just became witless mainstream pap with pages of adverts to wade through to prop up the fact it was selling less and less copies.
Tenwords, articles of fiction?! eh, where exactly? I've seen every issue of that magazine for over 10 years and in the past couple of years since Neil took over they've more or less done away with any kind of coverage of books and authors.
EMAP must have thought they had the winning formula getting the founder of Popbitch to edit a magazine but he's just run it into the ground. If you ever get the chance look at earlier issues of the magazine even from the mid 90s and you'll see how good it once was.

Not to mention the fact I know several people who've worked for them and they're a bunch of two faced tossers who are completely up their own arses with their own self importance. GYAC your magazine sells less than 25,000 copies in the UK, there are fishing magazines that sell more than that.
