Wow
this show's rad! There goes any chance of being productive today.
.
Thanks man. Them's kind words :)
This
is actually a CD compiling the 4 track 7" 'Town Topic' EP that we (OIB Records) released which featured the two vocal tracks and two instrumentals. AND the 'STSNC instrumentals' 7" that the Olympia Washington label 'people in a position to know' recently released on random colour vinyl. The 'STSNC inst' record has 10 instrumental tracks including all the character ringtones that Owen wrote for the film. Oh yeah I should probably say that this release is the soundtrack to the Laurel Nakadate film 'Stay The Same Never Change'.
The artwork of the CD is the same as the artwork we used for the 7", it's a still from the film. The cover of the 'STSNC inst' record is a drawing of a walrus that Owen drew. The CD version comes in a 'single' CD case and in my opinion the colours are a bit too vivid in comparison to our vinyl release, but obviously that's just personal taste.
We've actually got a handful of both 7" releases that we are selling together as a deal on our website WWW.OIBRECORDS.COM
the YACHT
show in Brighton on Saturday has now moved to the ARC with support from Ponytail. 8:00-10:30pm.
That is all.
x
He's
playing a free gig on Brighton beach too I think
.
Brighton date tix: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/33305
Yeah
it's not great. I saw Alice Cooper there twice tho and that was pretty special. In general I would say soulless.
Anyone
know when the Brighton date goes onsale?
I
was obviously being sarcastic.
My point is I personally choose to support labels I believe in. You're consuming a product, it's like saying why does it matter which petrol station you go to if you need the petrol isn't that all that matters. There's politics behind all consumer decisions.
I'm not in anyway trying to be 'self-righteous' in my decision to purchase this record from one source over another, it's purely my decision as a consumer as to who I'd rather financially support.
.
fuck it I'll just download it then and not support anyone.
I'm
sure you can get it from the Kranky mailorder online store. Their CDs are $16 inc shipping which is like £8. It'll work out the same if not possibly cheaper than the UK version.
Yes I agree that 4AD has a solid current roster and back catalouge. However as part of the Beggards group 4AD just don't need my money as much as Kranky do. I personally much prefer the Kranky roster to the 4AD roster and would much rather give them my money to help continue the great work that they do.
I'd
just much rather give my money to Kranky than 4AD. Kranky need all the support they can get as a truly independent label. They're one of the most innovative and continuously impressive labels on the planet.
The
US import version it is then.
I'm
still hoping that the new Themselves album will come out this year.
John Otway!
Badass!
.
A) Glastonbury Festival
yes!
I demand tour news!
lol
.
It's not quite sold out yet.
There's still about 25 tickets left across Resident / Rounder record stores in Brighton town. Plus a handful on Ticketweb.
.
Matt Cargil will be there..........I'm so there.
Yeah
the Brighton show is FREE and with Half-Handed Cloud / LAKE. Doors 10:30pm-2am. It's at the Engine Rooms.
Quart
is without a doubt the most beautiful festival I've ever been to. RIP.
.
The Brighton show is now at Audio. All tickets remain valid but please note this is now an early show from 7pm-9:45pm AND the capacity of Audio is 150 people smaller so this show is now pretty close to selling out so you should get a ticket soon if you haven't already.
Why? - Brighton Barfly
We're just in the process of re-housing this show due to the closure of the Barfly. I expect it'll be either Digital or Audio. However, either way it will be forced to be an early show due to these venues being clubs! So stay tuned.
I wouldn't say it's R&B,
I'd just say it's shit.
I went to the Great Escape
and didn't see any of those shows! What did I miss?
We
released the new 'Casiotone for the Painfully Alone' 7" EP 'Town Topic' today. It's in shops, well shops that stock indie 7inch vinyl, that's actually probably not that many. You can also get it from our webstore at www.oibrecords.com.
It got a DiS review here http://drownedinsound.com/articles/3191989
self-promotion over.
.
"One thing you do have to give to V is that at least its exclusivity contracts prevent the bands it books from playing other festivals"
Is that a joke?
damn....
...we're meant to be putting on Sole and SJ Esau on June 19th in Brighton! Which show are those bearded backpacking students going to attend now?!
If....
...that's his only copy then whoever has it should release it as their own album and sue him for breaking copyright when he re-records it.
...
Any extra day and an extra £30 charge. I second a breakdown of the days would make buying tickets a lot easier. Especially as the Friday is usually a shorter evening show.
Didn't you
already announce it was Johnny Foreigner and the Mae Shi?
...
Mogwai doing 'Young Team', nice! Any chance of them doing an a UK don't look back on this?
Mentored..
...by Ian Brown and featured on the first season of the O.C.
I'd wager no.
Isn't this their...
...fifth album?!
I've said it before....
....and I'll say it again. Munch Munch rule! Go to this!
Oh and....
....Pheromoans too. Yet another side project from the Sticks. Damn good too.
Munch Munch....
...rule! That new Tomlab single is aces.
The Sticks....
.....rule. One of the few acts that standout through most the shit in brighton.
We've got them playing at Water Margin in Brighton on Feb 11th with The Death Set, Lonely Ghosts, and The Tumbledown Estate. It's gonna be a rad show.
New Munch Munch 7"
We're just about to release a new Munch Munch split 7" with Gay Against You; The Tumbledown Estate; and Lonely Ghosts (Tom Denney from Help She Can't Swim solo debut)
The 7" comes in a double printed reversable gatefold sleeve with individual band badges designed by the bands.
