think
it's the year of the members' birth
on a kinda similar note
I think the best forced name change is "Dinosaur" to "Dinosaur Jr".
This is...
awesome!!! I believe Thurston is curating!
Is it just me...
Or does anyone else read the name "Journey South" and immediately think of oral sex?
Whenever
I see this band's name I think of that post that said "Get Dog. Walk Dog. Shit." Makes me laugh every time!!!
marvellous
I wonder if he'll do a solo version of "I Do" at the wedding - complete with vocal-melody mimicking guitar solo of course!!!
What do
volcano! sound like?
CBGB = NYC
It would only be CBGB by name if it moves to the soul-less waste that is Vegas.
iLiKETRAiNS =
righteous
Nay,
It was Alan McGee who said that (their manager!)
Hmmm
Darn. I love the 'Gwai and find most of their rants humourous, but this just seems unprovoked, bitter and nit even very funny... not impressed.
sheeeooot!
I love AIC, but without Layne there is just no point. Layne's voice was integral to AIC and this will just be poo.
That photo
of Bellamy makes me wanna laugh/cry - such a excessively dramatic and indulgent performer.
I remember seeing their cover of "Feeling Good" on the TV some time ago and I found it so tasteless and soulless.
Vocal acrobatics are by and large a bad idea: (obvious influence on Bellamy) Jeff Buckley walked a fine line between having a great voice and being a bit of a whitney/mariah diva (have you heard the live at Sin-E stuff? how many unecessary notes can I fit in to this phrase) - Bellamy is the King of bad-vocal-acrobatics.
or
it's called a "natural"
Hell
Yes
bitchen
that's all.
Sometimes...
bands don't aim to build and explode - if all bands did this, it would be a predictable world wouldn't it. I salute them for not doing the obvious.
no

Blimey
I was thinking about the album "Sparkle and Fade" just the other day - I was keen on it back in the day...
I want
James Iha back - I always enjoyed his playing very much.
But let's face it - how good will this really be? The last few shows they did were pretty poor.
Unfortunately, we can't bring back 1993.
Erm...
the bass player used to be in post-rock behemoths Souvaris!
Damn Straight...
...Mr Roberts.
We all know that the Brits are irrelevant to most of us. Of course, if a band you like wins one, that's a lovely thing.
But I don't think anyone around here will be surprised or upset that the Brit Awards ignore most of what is good in new British music.
She is...
... da fox.
Erm...
Shellac have a high cymbal that all 3 of them play live sometimes.
Yes...
... and the hook was written by Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider!
No
Kraftwerk's "Computer Love" is awesome - this is not.
Boo!
This really makes me sad/mad - basing a song on someone else's (Kraftwerk in this case) is fine and dandy if you're going to do something with it and perhaps add something to it.
On this song, Coldplay have basically recorded a cover version of Computer Love played by a live guitar band with Chris Martin singing something over the top - and the thing is, he can't even be bothered to write his own melody for the chorus... it's such a lazy effort.
It really is very poor when a band can't think of their own melodies and have to steal other peoples, without even trying to hide it - there's homage and there's silage: this is the latter.
Absolutely
gen, you are spot on - beautiful review of a mindblowing night.
Nazi?
Is Vincent going for the role of Nu-Fuhrer?
What...
...do they sound like?
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
Re: Pure Reason Revolution
I always thought that this was the beauty of DiS - it's not run by Mr Big who tells the writers what to think/write and which bands to love/hate - it's REALISTIC that different writers have differing opinions! I like that.

You are quite miserable aren't you. It's a shame, you might have enjoyed yourself last night... but not worth the risk is it?
iForward, Headline Tour!

dEUS - Pocket Revolution
Off the road and into the pictures
Also, I probably have a soft spot for it, as I bought it in San Francisco's City Lights bookshop and read it while on a trip in the USA, so it fit my experience.
