I'm enjoying these Kraftwerk reviews too
getting right to the heart (odd term for Kraftwerk in a way) of their music. Almost inspired me enough to go buy the whole boxset given I don't have quite all of their albums. Man Machine is my favourite for sure though.
Is there someone who looks like a rabbit...
in Coronation Street??
That album cover does looks rather like the cover of Siren.
They don't strike me as the Roxy Music referencing type though.
It was Billy MacKenzie comparisons on the Limbo, Panto review
here that made me sit up and take notice of Wild Beasts to begin with. It was my favourite album last year, but I have to admit I'm a little apprehensive about Two Dancers, worried they shorn themselves of some of their idiosyncracies. I look forward to it tho.
No reviews of
the new King Creosote and Junior Boys albums?!
I could have sworn...
that Rory fellow was standing in front of me at the Glasgow gig too, so maybe he really does get everywhere. That pic is funny though, it looks like he was supposed to be playing a gig and he went for a piss and when he came back had been usurped by dem Wild Beasts.
This year's...
Frightened Rabbit?
The Book of Love cover
really isn't all that different at all. I wouldn't rate it as one of the best songs on 69 Love Songs, so I don't really get why Catherine A.D. and Peter Gabriel have both chosen to cover it.
Well I'm a bad person
and feel ashamed of myself.
Hmm
I read Rip It Up and Start Again, but never felt quite intrigued enough to check This Heat out, but now I do. I do worry that any "in depth" album review or revaluation can make me interested in any album, regardless of actual quality though. We shall see.
b.) a venomous species of plant
I would have gotten it right on my own and everything too. I'm a big Triffids fan (or Triffhead as some call them) but I've been too skint to buy the Early Singles. Better than the Bad Seeds and the Go-Bs put together. Beautiful Waste is a great compilation, I want a proper review on DiS though.
Triple J
Yeah I have quite a few Triffids (Martyn Casey's previous band) tracks that were done for Triple J.
Dig is an ace album, I though it would be too much in the Grinderman vein for my liking, but the review is right in that the more fullsome sound full of subtleties is there.
DDDDOHHHH!!!!!1
I never noticed the Ronettes vid!!!! I thought from the tone of the review that our scribe here was oblivious to them! A-forgiveness please!
The B-side
Is it not called "Be My Baby" because it's a cover version of the very well known Ronettes song which was produced by Phil Spector, to whom Glasvegas appear to be disciples?

Northern Ireland Schmorthern Schmireland
At least they are playing the UK's most northerly city (Inverness is just about a city) and some other pishy ones in between (Dundee, need I say it!)
