On stage with Bill Gates
credibility goes bye bye.
Like the album
but the artwork with them at a pool is shocking. Give me the tied up feet!!!!
Been all over this band
the album is genius, beautiful travelling music.
I think I'm
suffering from Post-Rock Burnout.
I love it, but seriously I've had enough for awhile, I'm gonna go listen to singer/songwriter stuff just for a palette change and I'll come back for these critters later.
Its easy
to say, people getting victimised because of an inde or emo dress sense.
But I've certainly taken the piss out of guys dressed up in chav excesses in return.
Theres plenty on both sides I'm sure.
This sorta thing is most apparent in younger people when they are struggling for belonging and a sense of identity so its naturally for them to form into tribes based around culture, class or music.
Not to go to "animal kingdom" on you but its definatly true.
The way tribes exert themselves has always been by going up against people with different beliefs and values and thats why there is such animosity.
It'll never go away and is likely to get worse as people diverge more and more.
Unfortunatly its the way we are.
The speed camera
arguement is a bit off. Its easy to say that they are a cash cow but Simon Cowell pays more in tax every year than the revenue they generate.
The government for better or worse thinks they're a legit safety measure.
Even
the "inventor" of the internet this week said that such monitering and analysis is wrong and acts against the very principles of the protection of personal data. Such a move could only lead to more harmful actions than clamping down on music downloads depending on who is allowed access to the information. See the negative reaction to facebook ad monitoring recently for example.
Or Tim Berners-Lee's example of an increase in his insurance policy if he had been looking at websites related to a type of cancer.
It really is quite a serious issue.
Piracy has existed in one form or another for years, not just because of the internet. Look at the measures taken by Radiohead, Raconteurs and Panic to prevent piracy and I reckon thats the way people should be heading.
Guess whos a computer science student :)
I can't remember
what was the verdict on the View?
complete bollocks or passable teen indie nonsense?
This will be really interesting
with such a different sounding album and with such a high target to live up to, could a nearly critic proof album at one point actually fall foul of bad press and end up being a bit of a squib.
Not many people are rushing to their defence at the mo.
I quite like it though, its dumb but for 3 1/2 mins why not
If you were
Trent, what would you buy with that money?
I pick "sunshine and happiness".
You reckon
people will ever stop using the word supermassive in relation to Muse now?
need a compo
next band to "do a radiohead", guess correctly win a nice hat.
keep us occupied for hours it will.
Well
bloody confusing ain't it.
Well I quite like these boys so 'mon the tunes
when did
MOR become this horrible travesty to musical taste?
When done well MOR can be brilliant.
*sigh
I suppose
its what I get for not carefully considering my every word on boards like this eh.
Besides
if you ever needed any evidence to discredit my point...
The first CD I ever bought was a Nickelback one, and I liked it 0.o
I realise
me saying that means a bunch of people are gonna say the contary, but seriously, whats the point.
They were on the end of some serious lashings a few days ago.
I slagged these guys
not long ago, but gave the new single a chance and went back and listened to "...free world" again and I'm so pleased that my young and naive ears missed the point last time around.
Bloody brilliant.
Well as
no-one here likes em (don't slagg the DiS) let me proudly say yet again.
They're awful, humdrum, uninteresting numptys and I really hope they dissappear into nothing-ness.
certinaly
first one was good, not great, if we get a repeat performance, sorry guys but game over in my book. You've had plenty time to come up with some new ideas.
Shame
its NiNs really ain't it.
I'd care if it was someone else.
About damn time
need me some hot bass player action.
poo album name though....
C'mon kids play nice
remember when music was fun and no-one took themselves that seriously.
Jeez, you make me wanna go listen to Girls Aloud at least they only bitch about what they're told to bitch about.
Somebody
wussed out. Damn. *cries
I'm sure
one of their members id called "house of lords" I mean really......
I hate them
cos they're shit.
Don't know about DiS.
sweet
my back garden could do with a ferris wheel, its just not kid friendly enough otherwise.....
I've never gotten this band
I mean really, what are they for?
Muse doing
feeling good? Sounds pretty nifty to me.
Shame
the album is rather awful.
Oh well.
Too much time with the Moss eh?
DiS
hasn't screwed up.
Just the word Foals brings in idiots like us to talk. Creates traffic, DiS wins.
Besides, of course you won't get higly intellectual retorts to posts. Its a friggin forum, everyone acts like a twat.
Me included.
These
pricks have probably never even voted themselves, let alone be actually interested in democracy of another country.
Post of the day
win.
Muse.
Time Is Running Out.
Never gave music even a thought really till that, got hooked in and here I am now searching for any Gutter Twins related information. It's been a fun ride!!!
When do
Muse not headline the summer festivities?
It's the NME
does it matter. Its by no means a forefront music publication really, its reader ship cares about Fall Out Boy and the next big hyped band, not a critque of music tastes and what is perhaps good or bad about the state of indie today.
Theres a place for the mundane and the fantastical in msuic, thats the whole friggin point.
Its about self expression and what you personally feel, hopefully connecting you to other likeminded people, thus creating a fan base.
People are just so narrow minded sometimes to realise that all aspects of this supposed art form are valid and at best astounding.
As I write this I'm listening to a classical composition featuring a full orchestra, on the way home from university I was listening to the Mars Volta and yesterday night I was blissed out to Lightspeed Champion. Theres a place for everything.
Well
up for this record personally.
oooooo
a very small talk then?
The faint....
sound of no-one really caring.
Pussies
Big ones.
It's ok
We'll be over shortly to bomb the Jesus into them soon!
Bringing back the rap music to those poor fellas and their freedom-free ladies.
Anyone?
Does anyone care?
Difficult.
Not sure its about a big or small, so much as its about a varied scope of bands.
I like seeing bigger bands like Muse, Biffy etc getting deserved praise as well as the odd diamond in the rough being presented to us as readers and then supporting them to see what they can really achieve.
I think a 'DiS band' is a band with recognisable talent that stands apart from its compititon and gives us something different and special which we as a fan base can support.
Wow
I've always flirted with the odd bit of Jpop/rock. But I gotta say GO!GO!7188 really are something else, she can't half hit some notes. Really loving this feature, hopefully it'll be just as awesome in coming months.
all fine till you mentioned QOTSA
Really, all nonsense? ok been some duff parts, but still legions better than most other bands out in the mainstream.
Refresh my memory
Hadn't this band disappeared years ago?
At least its been years since I cared about em, think I still used to dress in black back then *shudder*
Not really informative
But the artwork sure is pretty.
I'll keep trying....
but I don't get it yet.....
Maybe I missed the point.
You know, I never felt like they did that much, showed up, played a bit and left.
Theres no sense of occasion with the 'Monkeys. Shame really, cos with the right stage show, along with the clever if not a little flat music, could be quite the killer act in a few years.
If we can stand anymore by that point...

Wouldn't worry
Scotts leaving the band anyway for Stone Temple shinanigins.
Too little too late eh.
