Wonderful Woman and Jeane aren't difficult to find
Both are on b-sides of the 7" and 12" of This Chamring Man respectively. I find them under S in my boxes of singles, barely a yard from where I am.
I'll be there for the Birmingham date
Oh, wait, hmmm
KateGoes
No mention of KateGoes, no photos of KateGoes
!!
What's wrong with being "unwieldy and lacking in focus"?
"unwieldy and lacking in focus" is an ageist remark.
True
Hitler did have one ball rather than none.
That's awful
They should call him Gay Hands and say that he uses his Hands on other men, in a Gay way. That'll show him, unless he is gay, in which case he won't mind.
What a pile of shite
Most of the questions were a joke - so, easy.
You'd have to be a moron not to get them, or under 40.
Pro-choice
Both of the above comments are stupid and very offensive. They are as disgustingly-prejudiced as any crap in Daily Mail. Both angelic_devil and maplesugar seem to believe that women should only have children if they satisfy some arbitrary criteria about the living situation. In fact, the second poster implies women who are on very low incomes or unemployed shouldn't have children at all.
Such attitudes are dispicable, inhumane and make my stomach turn.
Abortion is the right of every woman to stop her pregnancy when she feels like doing so. Denying that right is totally unacceptable. Equally, suggesting that some women shouldn't have children because they don't have enough money is totally unacceptable and extremely anti-feminist
Named and shamed?
Surely, that's what the bands would want?
A Birmingham date - that's great
I think the Alabama theatre is on Corporation Street.
The blank generation
This article isn't about punk. It's about journalists and their ilk who were the "right age" to encounter punk. But, the writer doesn't really say anything informative or interesting about them. He just moans about them and invents views on their behalf and moans about that. It is a vacuous article that has nothing to say, lacks logic, lacks a didactic narrative and, essentially, pretends to be a polemic against journalists of a certain age but fails because none of the "criticism" has any substance or solidity.
However one may feel about punk, positive or otherwise, this article makes no contribution.
It is clear that the writer has no skill as a writer of diatribes. He chooses to write such articles because he feels they may SELL but lacks the skills, ability and intelligence to write such articles.
Eat the fucking turkey
It's good for you
Apart from Gilbert O'Sullivan
it's all a bit drab
David Byrne can do wahtever he wants
and he usually does
He is without compare
True
I saw a year and a half ago and they all wore waistcoats
Pah! London sissies
On Birmingham, your cock is stamped, and, if you go out for a fag, you have to have your cock hanging out the entire time it takes to smoke the fag.
That guy
sounds like a cunt.
He's using "green" issues to make money because they are hip right now with the stupids
Catherine Anne Davies is magnificent.
Sadly, I've yet to see her live.
That trailer was contentless
The problem that I have always had with Sex And The City is that, despite all four characters being aged around forty, they persist in having inane, banal conversations that display a screaming lack of self-awareness, insight and maturity. Every discourse involving one or more of the characters would embarrass even the dumbest sixteen year old.
This isn't to say that the characters are portrayed as unintelligent. Worse than stupidity, the characters are portrayed as if their memories of life are expunged each morning and that each day they have to re-learn what men are, what women are, what sexuality is, etc.
It is a TV show with adults playing the parts of teenagers on the cusp of adulthood. The crass ignorance of the characters of even the most obvious and simplest aspects of relationships is continually present and continually annoying.
Sex And The City promotes a view that, once a girl has reached sixteen, she will mature no more at an intellectual level. This TV show eschews and, consequently attacks, feminism as much as garbage like Nuts magazine does.
Essentially, the TV show is about retardation. Whoeevr wrote the script must really despise women.
Behave
You need an artist who is hugely popular and yet still liked by those who, rightly or wrongly, consider themselves to be fans of interesting "worthy" music. That is, number one albums/sellout stadium gigs and front cover of The Wire.
So, Bowie, Radiohead, and, that's it.
Might have to wait thirty years for the next one.
One day, you'll write an article that justifies your presence, perhaps.
You are much too close to the front of the stage
You are practically snogging Thom.
Only for the money
but, seeing as they made no money from being The Sex Pistols, one of the most important bands ever, I don't have a problem with them raking it in now - I wouldn't go to see them, but my vinyl of 'Bollocks' needs replacing.
What does "DiS faves" mean?
Promoting the idea of a closed clique are you?
This is a daft article
written by someone who aspired to be a journalist in the modern sense rather than a music journalist.
White is secretive and criticises journalists who make things up. The two go together logically.
Strang sounds like a disgruntled gopssip columnist who has the editor screaming in his ear because he has no story.
.
"To celebrate Strummer’s fierce sense of individuality, Fender and acclaimed artist Shepard Fairey collaborated on the new guitar’s limited edition Joe Strummer Telecaster customization kit, which includes stencils and stickers inspired by the custom designs Strummer decorated many of his instruments with."
INDIVIDUALITY!!!
Her music is her hobby
Her main vocation is tea, cakes and roller-skates
You're disappointed?
I'm livid
Not selling out
As soon as a band is full-time, or has the desire to be so, then they must sell something to make a living. Some promotion is required. Prime-time exposure on television to millions of people is useful. The fact that this is associated with advertising a product is not important. It is not selling out. Selling out is changing your musical style to appeal to more people.
The fact that, as an example of your's, Stiltskin and Babylon Zoo achieved nothing more than one hit single as a result of their music being used in adverts is due to the fact that both bands were crap.
No fucking Birmingham?
Second biggest city in the UK
I could do the listings
though I suspect you want a full-time person not a weekender and eveninger.
They are both OK
but I can Mothertrucker or Einstellung for less than half the price
I first heard of Hammersmith Palais
When I heard the song 'White Man In Hammersmith Palais'
For that song alone, the place should not be knocked down.
..
"they’re not afraid to sing in their own unique Essex accents and throw English landmarks, phrases and icons into their songs such as Hackney, blagging and the infamous Essex girl!"
