Good that it's staying but the phrase 'wider appeal' frightens me. It often leads to less experimentalism and more Lilly Allen.
Great line up so far, but I hope they sort the queue situation out this year. Last year if you weren't in somewhere by 9pm you could more or less forget about it. And don't even get me started on the mess they made of the one-in-one-out system at the Speigel Tent.
Totally agree - stunning dull line up. The list of acts could have been in a 2005 line up. Have I just got older and wiser or has NME completely lost it's edge? Disappointing!
...I missed most of the Leonard Cohen show at Glastonbury 2008 to see Spiritulized. After half an hour of white noise and not even a 'thank you' or 'hello glastonbury' from the Big Man I walked out. Of course Glastonbury being the size it is there was no time to get back and see any more of LC. Gutted!
Loving this new slightly darker sound. Looking forward to hearing the album.
Surely it's a band who tell jokes...?
Hope the powers that be allow them time to recouperate rather than pushing a fledgling band until they're destroyed.
I thought Florence's cover was a rather drab version of the original. Although her voice is strong it just wasn't quite right for this song. This is after all a song about Jesus (yeah, bet you weren't thinking that back in the 90s in the middle of Ibiza!) I think anyone trying to cover this needs that booming gospel vocal.
However the XX version completely changed my mind. They've turned the tune inside out, and round and round and then...dah, dah! Look what we just did. Bet you weren't expecting that then.
By the way the video is just a recut of the original - not very interesting, although Flo always has nice knickers!
I was at that reading and having an awful time. Our tent flooded, we got robbed and my mate was begging me to leave and go home. I asked her to stay just for Nirvana and boy we were glad we did!!
