Re: Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Open your minds, kids.
If you don't get it, it doesn't mean it's shit.
I can say with total confidence that the Locust will be around a lot longer than the YYYs, and have already been around for 7 years, at least.
But, whatever. This is a site of opinions, and they're all different. That's why I love it so. But please, have some perspective.

Re: At the Drive-In: Anthology

Iggy was on that single, erm... Rolodex Propoganda? But he was shouting, not speaking... about Manuscript replicas or something.

You're thinking of another song with a spoken word bit.

!!! - Pardon Their Freedom

Louden Up Now is ace.
That is all. Goodbye.

Re: anticon - label sampler: 1999-2004

Whoa.
I for one bow to your superior knowledge.
I think you deserved to ride your horse just then.
I'm a bit scared.

Re: Nirvana - Kurt Cobain : Journals

Was that aimed at me?
Do I?
Cool... my grey hair says otherwise, but has no real voice.
I hate grey hair but am too pussy to dye it.

Re: anticon - label sampler: 1999-2004

Too prolific? Interesting point. I don't get all of anticon's stuff - Sole got on my tits when I last saw him - but themselves are wonderful, and odd nosdam's solo stuff is pretty ace too. Okay, so they're both cLOUDDEAD affiliated, but there is supreme talent elsewhere on the label, and whilst it's not all tip-top quality, this record is an amazing introduction, plus it's mixed (subtley) really well.

Non-Prophets? Have only heard the last album. Thought it was good, but it's no Personal Journals.

Re: Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Indeed.
It's not like you'd have Locust fans abusing the YYYs, is it?
They'd stand there, politely, and clap when asked to.
They might even dance.
I know I would.

anticon - label sampler: 1999-2004

This.
Is.
Fantastic.
Honest.

Re: Nirvana - Kurt Cobain : Journals

Second generation?
Scary... I feel old.

Re: Slipknot's Subliminal Verses

For the record, Slipknot are actually very talented.
I can't believe I just wrote that...
Reputation: soiled.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

"The Locust are truly dreadful. Avoid at all costs."
Are you quite, quite mad?
The Locust are fantastic. They make me poop. Really.
Ah well...

...you gotta admit though, it's a bizarre pairing. There's no way the YYY crowd are gonna take to them. But the crowd abusing them because they didn't 'get it' is weak.

Blonde Redhead - Misery Is A Butterfly

I want this.
Where can I get it?
For little or no expense, that is...

Re: New DiS Night In SOUTHAMPTON!

Doesn't Lennons pride itself on its out of date beer though?
I thought that was the only reason anyone ever went there.
Oh, apart from for the NEW DiS NIGHTS, obviously.

Re: New DiS Night In SOUTHAMPTON!

I look ill all the time.
I think they spike the beer in the Water Rats with Mr Muscle or something.

Re: Seachange - Lay of the Land

But the first and last songs are aaaaaaammmmmmaaaaaazzzzzzing.
With bookends like that, how can you be unimpressed?

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

I am, of course, only joshing.
Hope you stay up by the way - the derbies have been fun.
Your clubs are rubbish, though.

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

I never went to clubs in Portsmouth.
Full of c*nts.
*smirk*
*waves Southampton scarf*

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

Why do they play J5 between Cradle of Filth and NOFX?
Does my head in.

Re: Ash - Meltdown

Is that a postcode?
Is it in Derbyshire?
Do I win a prize?

Re: More names for Carling Weekend

That's a big decision?
J5, obviously... you can see HR any time.

Re: Lil' Kim - Big Trouble

Wasn't it about boffing Sabrina the Teenage Witch?

Re: Miss Kittin - I Com

Is it Miss Kittin that's on the Quintron album, or am I thinking of another lady with a feline moniker?

Re: Ash - Meltdown

If it's the one I'm thinking of, in the tent, then yes. I danced like a gibbon.

Haven't seen them since. Perhaps I should.

Re: Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

How indeed.
I'd like to apologise to the nation.
Sorry.

Re: Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

SHIT! We both got it wrong!
I can't believe it. I blame the lack of cake in the office today - my willpower is fudged. I own it (I kid thee not) and still fucked it up.

It is, and I quote...

You've got to hold and give
But do it at the right time
You can be slow or fast
But you must get to the line
They'll always hit you and hurt you
Defend and attack
There's only one way to beat them
Get round the back
So catch me if you can
Cos' I'm the England man
And what you're looking at
Is the master plan
We ain't no hooligans
This ain't a football song
Three lions on my chest
I know we can't go wrong

Re: Blazin' Squad to Rap England to Victory?

Shit.
Sorry.
Really?
I'll change it.
So Solid Crew Blazin' Squad East 17... I get so confused.

Re: Revelation Invasion!

I dunno.
Garrison are good.
But they're no Since By Man or Christiansen.
The latter band foookin' ruled at The Garage the other week.

Re: Revelation Invasion!

Genius.
Maybe they could do an instore?

Re: Black Eyes - Black Eyes

Yes they have split up.
If they'd been bigger here I'd have written a news piece.
But they weren't, so I didn't.
Great band, great album... go buy!

The Glitterati - Here Comes a Close Up EP

Didn't these guys play with The Koreans at the Mean Fiddler that time?

They looked funny...

Re: EMI Shut Their Hut

I think the current artists will just move to Virgin proper.

There's no talk of any artists being dropped.

But I imagine afew jobs will go, since it's a streamlining move.

Re: Glasto: eBay Auctioneers Get Their Own Back

I seem to recall 'Timmy!' at Reading a couple of years back.

Unless that was all in my head?

Re: McFly: NOT the New Busted, Okay?

Did I say they were good?
Nope.

Re: McFly: NOT the New Busted, Okay?

Yeah, maybe it's a little harsh.
But come on, suggesting that all hip hop artists look the same is fucking harsh.
They're probably not racists, but what they said was a little dumb. Not as dumb as Lee Ryan's whales nonsense though.

Re: Sony-Signed Korn Sock it to the Majors

I nearly went to Boston last summer - had a cash crisis so couldn't.

Would I have enjoyed it? (was cheap flights y'see).

Chris Moyles = our Howard Stern? God, I hope not...

Re: Good Riddance to KFC

Vegans do scare me.
Anyone who didn't suckle on a cow til the age of eight isn't quite right by me.
Round our way we've a system, and we've not produced any tree-hugging hippies for eighteen seasons.
All got six fingers on each foot mind.

Re: Seachange - News From Nowhere

Best UK album of the year.
No doubt.

Good Riddance to KFC

Aww man...

...does this mean I can't eat Zingers anymore?

But they're so tasty...

...Goddam it.

Re: Mikey takes a nose-dive

Have I listened to the Howard Stern show? Yup; the internet's a wonderful place.

Do I like being told what to do by big fat-walleted major conglomerates who care more about getting you to wear their shoes whilst listening to their CDs and drinkingtheir cola? No, but I also don't like LOUD ABRASIVE DISK JOCKEYS who don't really seem to care much about music and often have an ill-informed agenda, even if it's often good at heart.

Howard Stern, on this occasion, is perfectly right though. That Clear Channel have pulled his show is a disgrace. I may not much like it, but he provides a valuable service, if that's what you weant to call it. I may not like the movie (come on, it's AWFUL), but that's not the point.

He's done a world of good, but stripped of his medium, how powerful can he be? And supporting Korn? Makes sense of my point that he doesn't seem to care too much about music, or rather, he doesn't have that much of a clue. Then again, when did corporate commercial radio EVER have a clue?

Hmm... off track a little, but this has made me think a bit more than I usually do at gone 4.30.

Re: Slipknot's Subliminal Verses

I'd disagree - Slipknot don't suck, they're just an average metal band dressed up like the Powerpuff Girls or something. Some of the drumming on Iowa is fucking immense.

Re: Har Mar Gets Around

I did that, a long time ago. We had to etch our essays back then. Glory days.

Re: Have a Hella Time

Their drummer was amazing.
He can play my wedding if he likes - drumming 'Here comes the Bride'
Awesome.

Re: Have a Hella Time

Go to www.upsettherhythm.co.uk and you'll see that the first band were not called Murder at all.

I was just tired and couldn't see shit. Thus, am gripey.

I still have a headache too.

Re: S Club Singer = Serial Killer!

I'd like to know what happened to the chubby one who left to join a rock band.

Re: Big Brovaz Cut Down To Size

Irony.
Apparently.

Re: The Icarus Line - Penance Soiree

If someone wants to send it to us (ME ME ME ME) it'll get covered.

I have the EP from, like, aaaaaaaages ago and it rawks considerably... THIS IS DISCONNECT!... yeah.

Re: Have a Hella Time

First band were called something like Death is Love, or Death to Love, or Death from Love (sense a theme?).

Murder Of... were good, but Hella got old pretty quickly. I only have The Devil Isn't Red though, and the stuff I didn't recognise (guess that'll be the older bits) was a bit better methought. The line up could've done with a straight-up band with, like, choruses to break up the aural abuse.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.

Re: Ben Kweller: On His Way

They just did.
