They are
LOADS better live than on record, the whole loud/shoegaze element is a lot more prominent! They are lovely people as well which is always nice to know
What an irritatingly predictable top 5
This proves that people are fucking boring, music is never gonna progress if we keep championing people like Bon Iver so much
Seeing them tonight!
I've never been more impressed by a band on their first headline tour, saw them at Wolves Little Civic and they made it seem like a stadium gig (in a good way), obviously gonna be huge
1. FOALS - ANTIDOTES
2. Why? - Alopecia
3. Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
4. Late of the Pier - Fantasy Black Channel
5. Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
6. Portishead - Third
7. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
8. Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia
9. Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing
10. El Guincho - Alegranza (is that '08?)
The cover
still occupies my attention for 5 minutes every time I see it
Can't wait to hear this!
You missed Gallops!
Something you'll probably regret in the future
I love Oasis
and have grown up with them since I was 6, and I can honestly say that 'Dig Out Your Soul' is one of the most boring albums I've heard in years. 'Shock of the Lightning' and 'Falling Down' are brilliant though, I'd have given it 3/10
Bloody brilliant
and I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks the start of 'In the Hospital' sounds like 'Living in America'
Paris, Jump in the Pool, Strobe, Skeleton Boy and White Diamonds are my highlights
Not my album of the year, but definitely top 5
Dubstar?
Perhaps?
SLEEPYHEAD
by Passion Pit
Also...
MGMT - Kids
Why? - Fatalist Palmistry
Friendly Fires - Jump in the Pool
Van She - Kelly
White Lies - Death
Magistrates - Colour Co-Ordination
& anything off...
Late of the Pier - Fantasy Black Channel
Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
The Death Set - Worldwide
I have pretty much
the same opinion
I'd give it 7/10
If you're waiting for
'that' band then listen to Passion Pit
I was the promoter of that gig
Why the fuck I bother I don't know
'Routemaster'
shits on every White Lies track
It's a shame Fear of Flying didn't get this much industry backing
I had to be careful with this
First listen I thought "10/10, this is incredible!!" I've slowly calmed myself down to an 8.5
It's one of my favourite listens of the year, 'Skeleton Boy', 'Jump in the Pool' and the new version of 'Paris' are my highlights
Nice one Reef!
One day
all pop songs will sound like Heartbreaker
Bloody hell
That trailer really emphasises how down-hill Oasis have gone since the release of Be Here Now (and how shit and overrated 'Songbird' is compared to their other stuff)
However, I still love them!
My favourite album is Antidotes
but I feel Fuck Buttons deserve more attention
3rd ain't it?
I know his first was on his own
Will look into going to Glee Club
Well written
and I pretty much agree with all of it
It's a shame they couldn't put 'Best in the Class' on here but I understand why the band want to get it just right before releasing it. I predict a standalone EP between album 1 and 2
I would pay a lot
for a t-shirt with that design on
Dana have some amazing artwork but their t-shirts are pretty shit
Burial
Without a doubt!!!
Wonder how he's gonna collect his award?
2+2=5
is the only track out of those that I'm disappointed they didn't play on Tuesday
They should have released
Out There On the Ice
or
Feel the Love
or
Unforgettable Season
or
pretty much anything else on the album, even the little interludes - anything except Hearts on Fire - no need for a reissue!
I'm actually
compiling a proper list throughout the year, normally I just scramble around in the first week of December for a list
So far for me it's...
1. FOALS - Antidotes
2. CUT COPY - In Ghost Colours
3. CRYSTAL CASTLES - Crystal Castles
4. ERRORS - It's Not Something...
5. WHY? - Alopecia
6. PORTISHEAD - Third
7. LOS CAMPESINOS! - Hold On Now Youngster
8. NEON NEON - Stainless Style
9. THESE NEW PURITANS - Beat Pyramid
10. FUCK BUTTONS - Street Horrrsing
Other noteworthy LP's have come from:
THE MAE SHI, SUBTLE, JOHNNY FOREIGNER, MGMT, MYSTERY JETS, THEDEATHSET, YOUTHMOVIES, SCARLETT JOHANSSON
Haven't got anywhere near listening to all the albums I want to though
If I was a rich man...
I'm not even gonna read this
What's the point of reviewing it? What's the point in grading it? It's shit, why give them any attention?
The sort of people who
would go to this could pay about £20 to see similar/same bands at Underage or even Field Day without having to stay in a tent
Headliners should warrant half the ticket price alone and Patrick Wolf and The Maccabees certainly don't do that
I agree
with the 'suicide staircase' comment, it's a fucking nightmare
Crystal Castles being only 2 marks above H! doesn't really make sense but it's a good review
This is
a quality album, pushes itself into my top 10 of 2008 so far
I was shocked and very impressed by 'Cutlery Drawer', I hate George Pringle but she works really well on this track - probably my favourite of the album
Seems amazing that Mr Milk, Maeve Binchy, Terror Tricks and Hans Herman haven't made the final LP
A very good review apart from the previously mentioned headfuck of an opening sentence
I'm glad more turned out
The Daily Mail seems to see its mission as killing off everything that may change our country in the slightest, anything 'out of the ordinary' kids shouldn't get into - unless of course it's some sort of revival of the Hitler Youth, then they're more than welcome to get stuck in
There must be
more than 200 MCR fans in London?
I think you could muster that number in Wrexham!
Where the fuck
is the Kazimier???
Is there really any point
in this? We all know it's shit - I'd like JC to slag off someone at the top of their game (even if their game's pretty shocking) because he's the one guy who's untouchable in music and therefore no retort could be made
Unlike that abysmal Alex Zane vs Tom Clarke affair last year
8/10
is fair
Took me ages to work out why people thought JoFo were SO good, kind of turned into a 'Who loves them the most contest?' on DiS with board threads about them every minute!
The artwork is terrible though, probably the worst I've seen this year
I am on holiday
when they play Wrexham, I'm gutted - I was probably gonna be the only one going
Good to see prison
really straightened Doherty out
Still their best album
IMO
Gutted it's all the way in London
Any idea how much tickets will be? Could be a nice last gig before uni
Younger generation?
Why do the younger generation have to put up with bands like this? It's basically telling kids: "don't worry about the instruments or lyrics sounding shit it's what people your age can get away with liking"
It's possibly the worst album in the history of music and it's being laughed about now, fuck knows what people are gonna be saying in 5 years time
A very embarrasing blip on the face of new British music, something that we should just ignore and forget about
How
can listening to the Whip album be 1/10, but seeing The Fratelli's be 5/10?
Sort your system out
Even before I saw the rating
I planned to put the comment "I'd give this 9/10", definitely my album of the year so far!
Why couldn't they just
go on the show while they were touring America? Then they can spend their time in the UK finding some decent support acts for the London dates!!
Aaaaah!
I was wondering who did Vanished with them, that's one of my favourite tracks off the album along with Black Panther and Courtship Dating
Since when did
'irreverant' mean 'shoddy' or 'unprofessional'
It gets more impressive
the longer the video goes on for, ace tune as well! Has it not already been released?
10/10?
Steady on...
I'd say 7, but yeah the violin is excellent, normally I come to accept fairly average musicianship from younger acts (I'm looking at you Smoosh) but some of the stuff is really impressive
The review itself is ridiculous, has this guy's wife just left him? How can somebody have so much anger over something that REALLY isn't that bad...
What an over-reaction
I know she's ace but she might be coming to the age where she's just one of these crazy old women of rock, swiping out every time she's mentioned
+ I don't get why 'Cut Your Hair' is talked about as Pavement's finest hour, it's good but it's nowhere near as good as Carrot Rope, Stereo, Range Life, Shady Lane etc etc
Good track
and nice video
But it just seems like it's half a song - it's over way too soon!

I would like to reiterate
the comments already made stating that Kap Bambino have been going much longer than CC. Seems like basic research has also slipped under the radar
