I saw them the next day in Manchester
Fantastic set. Jamie looked knackered though.
I'm pretty sure it was
Tennis - NES
Super Tennis - Master System
Super Tennis - Super Nintendo (totally nothing to do with the Master System version)
My memory's hazy on it though...
Woo!
Would be ace to witness Xiu Xiu live without going to America.
It's even worse than that now!
Sunday daytimes only! (tuts)
The 97
is one of the worst buses in Bradford/Leeds. Hourly? Evenings only? Pah - bring back the 755 from days of yore!
When I lived in Bradford
I longed for it to have a decent music scene. Now it's fast approaching having one... about 6 years too late.
'Open Season' was good
Albeit patchier than 'The Decline of...'
I got it from emusic
and while it's good it does have a kind of 'Xiu Xiu with less interesting arrangements'-ness about it.
In other news
The Filthy Little Angels label also have a load of free music out this week via their website:
www.filthylittleangels.com
Quality stuff it is too!
How many rock-related ballets have there been
All I can think of is 'I Am Kurious Oranj" by The Fall.
Anyone heard the Sebastian remix?
I've never heard such an over-compressed dirge. The volume level 'pumps' so much it makes the track unlistenable. It's like the mastering studio teaboy had a go at the controls and they released his version.
I have to say I really enjoyed the first album. Haven't heard the second one yet but this track doesn't bode well.
Cock him in the face?
Good tactic!
Probably
remixes and videos. That's usual way they do these things. Not usually worth buying again.
They've beenaround for a while in Manchester
and are really good live.
Graham from the band did a free netlabel release called 'Earlids' under the name Analog last year. It was one of my favourite albums of the year.
I saw this in HMV the other day
and nearly bought it without knowing anything about it for some reason.
I may actually buy it now.
I think it's quite good
but an odd choice for a single.
Nobody's covered 'Why'
That's my favourite Yoko Ono track. Just her shouting "Why" for five minutes while John Lennon plays a funk bassline.
Or 'Why Not' which is the same but slower with Yoko wailing, instead of shouting "Why".
Works for me!
That girl ain't got God
because as any regular round here will know - Grammar is God!
The Cult of U2 - a scary thought.
Ah, it's been corrected
just call me sub-ed :)
Aye
But it looks like on the 19th of December they're playing at a place called 'JoJo's' in a place called Madame.
What's wrong with the cover?
Looks like the camera had a cateract.
But 6 Music is very much like what XFM used to be
so we haven't massively lost out.
of the band, that is
it's not very good.
But obviously they won't.
Never heard of Cassie?
The kids at the school work at would hang you for a statement like that!
Apocalypse Meow is either
a really good title.
Or a really bad one.
Placebo were ace back then
But I feel really old now a special edition's out of this album.
Have a read of this article for more on Beck and Scientology
He was brought up in the cult and drifted away when he went to New York as a teenager. Interesting stuff.
And I wouldn't call a cult with membership in thousands, rather than millions, based on a quack theory and money-making scam a religion!
Not sure about that
But I think they've never played it live because they couldn't work out how to.
Or something.
Nah, Sex War & Robots is one of my favourite SFA songs
and he doesn't sing it.
Yeah, and I thought it was funny that OMM gave 'Jarvis' 5/5
when he was guest-editing!
Maybe they'll come back with an IDM-influenced instrumental album and a completely new image
Well, maybe.
Yeah, I use a machine that copies 7 discs at a time
7 full CDs takes about 3 minutes to copy. Have 15 of those machines lined up and you'll have 1000 in under 15 minutes!
Not that you'd want 1000 Keane CDs.
I once met Conor Oberst
He was very short. And he was a little scared of me (long story).
Anyway, I don't own enough Bright Eyes stuff, so this might well be getting slung on the iPod (especially if it's on eMusic).
I don't care if it's good or not
I just enjoyed looking at the pictures.
I must be regressing to childhood.
I thought I'd added the extra 'be' into 'proof be need be' as I read it
and then I realised that no, you really were quoting a twelve year-old comedy sketch. Top stuff :)
I think you'll find you're right *and* wrong
You're right in American grammar, where a band *is* good, whereas in English grammar a band *are* good. This site is based in England and people who resort to grammar and spelling corrections to support their arguments have run out of interesting things to say. So, I rule in favour of manofhonour.
Why is he dressed like Ali G?
He looks less cool than Richard Madely did in the same outfit.
Sale?
A bizarre location compared with the others but just a few stops on the 41 away from my house. Bargain!
Good point
Tesco probably still sell it if the label have paid for space for a priority release.
I suppose all this just helps Beck look more 'alternative' than he otherwise would do. He was talking about making albums an interactive experience in an interview in Wired last month. Who cares about chart placings when the 'cool crowd' think you're forward thinking and original?

Obviously.
