Papa M
was a definite highlight for me... fucking beautiful. Pretty much in tears by the end of the first song - seriously moving stuff.
Glad you like the pic of King B... I tried my best with shooting in PITCH BLACK.
This seriously was one of my top gigs of the year
was really amazing. Even thinking about it makes me get goosebumps.
Haha, yes dear. YES IT IS.
I'll need one - i'll be too excited to carry all those lenses and shit!
haha, through my complete excitement
I prematurely posted! What I meant was: PAVEMENT REFORMING??!?! YES PLEASE!!
That Gold Panda video
is lovely
YES
and they're fucking AMAZING... you think they're good on record you should seem them live! (a few snaps of a recent show here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucylovestodance/ )
Brilliant piece
I fucking LOVE this band. That album is pure brilliance and their gig last night at Hoxton Hall was beyond anything I've seen in a long while!
I danced like a muthabitch to Errors.
They and Mogwai were brilliant, as they both always are!
Damn rain though, grrr.
I'll really miss Plan B
it was the only music publication I bought, even when I couldn't afford my subscription anymore I still used to end up buying most issues - it was so moorish what with its inspired coverage and beautiful images. I'm so sad that its gone. One of my big ambitions from when I started snapping was that I'd one day get good enough to shoot for them, sadly it didn't happen. I still keep all my back issues on my bookshelf for inspiration though as the quality of the content really was to a ridiculously high standard. When you think of that being created and put together in what sounds like a tiny shedlike room down Kings Cross - thats pretty fucking amazing.
And just to say Kicking K when I read this: “Q: What happens when you change routine? A: Emotions.” I wanted to give you the biggest hug!
I look forward to following the contributors work elsewhere.
thank you!!
:) (the light was pretty dodgy so it was well hard)
I can't believe no one has commented on the AWESOMENESS of these photos!
Toby - they're fucking brilliant! (I know i may be repeating myself but just stumbled across them again now and had to say) Such amazing photos.
yeah,
there does seem to be some pixelating going on - maybe I'm resizing them weird or summat? for non pixels and the like lookie here?
Did you take that shot?
i wanna see it bigger!
YES YOU ARE.
But you ain't got NO RIGHTS.
In a nutshell..
god I love Ride.
I NEVER
want to see Peaches playing Loveless in an oversized Ride tshirt...she'd have everything then and I think I'd cry. Heehee i had no idea about this Shoegaze week thing yet today I'm wearing my Sonic Cathedral 'SHOEGAZER' tshirt! HUZZAH!
I'm going to be shooting at RTE tomorrow
all day, if anyone I know is about- come say hello. I might have gone mad with all the coffee but...
Yeah erm,
I've never known them to be from south of the river (unless Nottingham is in peckham...) or even hang out there (more hackney than any where else?)
Regardless - they are amaze.
Talking of another brilliant band - I WANT THE NEW WILLIAM CD TOO!
Oh yes people its all about the capitals today! I'm so happy there's loads of Favours for Sailors love. They really are awesome!!
I LOVE FAVOURS FOR SAILORS
there, I said it.
erm,
I meant a lot but saying it thrice is going over the top! DiS must have the hiccups.
I love this man... a lot
he's a lyrical genius.
Ooo thats one of my pics!
Credit please ;')
Why does DiS do this to me now?
always types in TWICE... I never understand. *sigh*
EVEYTHINGS BROKEN (in reference to my phone, laptop and face)
this gig made me cry..
it was so good.
I always forget how Mogwai live make me feel how very few bands do... god I love them so much!

The instores today...
were F**KING BRILLIANT!!!
All bands were awesome ;'D
Coolio
but can I have a photo credit please? :) I'm a little worried that the new site might be not running the photo credits from the db maybe? Cos I definitely uploaded this one with my name attached... hmmmm.
Ta THANKS! x
Spot AlexRoar in the Rolo Tomassi pic!
Brilliant shots as always Holly!! :) I love that first Andrew WK especially - the lighting is really beautiful! Great shot! and that one of (is it Joe?) doing naughty things with his bass is fucking AWESOME!
For some BAD Rolo Tomassi shots keep an eye on here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucylovestodance/
They'll be going up tonight!
Aye!
Really brilliant shots! Absolutely LOVE that shot of Jeffrey Lewis!
I'm with brusma
I thought it was a beautiful and well executed set! I'm totally not one for audience participation but I thought after such a beautiful set (that Talk Talk cover was amazingly well done, I thought Mark Hollis was up there!) it was a perfect euphoric finish. Lovely in fact.
I was in a bad mood and standing in an odd spot and yet i still managed to get swept into it. Good work Justin!
And thats great news about the date - when i spoke to him yesterday he didn't think he was playing any london dates for ages so between here and Bristol someone must have sorted it!
I'm really pleased Johnny Foreigner won!!
Those that haven't heard the album, DO -its f**king brilliant! ...and for those who find it not their cuppa tea then fine, but don't be so disparaging! They're a really hardworking, not to mention very talented band.
Well done I say - well deserved!
Other than them it would have been Fuck Buttons for me so glad they made it in the top 3!
Well,
if you look above at previous posts there seems to be a lot of people in favour of this bit of fun.
And I too say AYE!
Hopefully it means a few people have discovered albums that they wouldn't have necessarily heard before.
And whoever gets the prize* (I have my bets on one) will, I'm sure, thoroughly deserve it!
*a bag of picknmix?
"(if like me you can't afford to work for free, or just expenses)"
FULL TIME... obviously i had to do so with the music photography (I know, I know I am reinforcing a terribly classist system by doing so) ... but I still had the day job. Even now I have to split my days between freelancing part time and working in an office 2 days a week to make rent.
Oh and kudos to Ben and his brilliant turn of phrase! "Pretentious Cocksnaffler" - sheer brilliance... :)
What Mike says...
when I started photographing for DiS (and various other things) I was working full time as a receptionist... You can still build up a good body of work whilst working 9-5 paying the bills (if like me you can't afford to work for free, or just expenses).
^
this :(
But i MUST see them!
I WANT TO GO TO THIS SO BAD
:(
And that photo of Thurston is BRILLIANT!
I wish i had a very fine cape...
but alas no. I was the thing in a drenched hoody! Thank you for liking the shots though!! :)
I'm with Kev on this one
just watched that Reading footage...f**king hell! Does get your toe a'tapping... to put it lightly. I always forget how young they are though!
And their choice of support on tour is fucking inspired - I want me some of that.
Really enjoyed reading this interview, and yeah, good work mentioning Harmonia!
I seriously can't wait
for the album - just reading this has got me even more excited!!
They're a ridiculously talented bunch - anyone who hasn't seen them live yet SHOULD SEE THEM!
P.S Sorry to the camera man on the Camden crawl video - my camera creeped into view - sorry!
A little bit ouch considering the current climate
but one only wishes great things for DiS.
