My 'Glastonbury moment' was finding out about mooncups in the Green Fields, and it being turned into an insult for the rest of the weekend

On efestivals I read people saying "There should eb a headliner for the youngsters" - what so you'd turn down one of Neil Young or Bruce Springsteen for Snow atrol. Sod that. If the youngsters don't like either of those two acts they're fucking tasteless.

I go to Glastonbury because it's an incredible place and you know there'll be bands on to watch. To the guy who said who can say they are going for the line up - errrr no one, since it's announced after the tickets sell out!

But since you mention it, Shakey, The Boss, Blur? Yes, I am going for the music. And it's going to be fucking awesome

I doubt Neil Young will hook up with CSN because he's playing Hard Rock Calling on the Saturday night

They did however besiege Leningrad for close to 2 years

Our flight into Valencia was delayed an hour. Get there to buy our coach tickets. There was one lady there who didn't speak great English. This was at 10pm. She informed us there was only one more bus that night and it was at 1am.

So we had to sit there for 3 hours, and then there wasn't enough space, and only by pure luck as someone got thrown off did I manage to get on it. Cab would've basically been the end of my festival if I'd had to have got it on my own - like 200 euro.

On the way back we were leaving a day later than the masses seemed to be. So I went to the train station to check it out. It was carnage. A gigantic queue to get onto the platform and all trains to Barcalona and Valencia sold out. A mass of people stood around crying because their pre booked coach to Barca airport was 4 hours late and they'd all missed their flights and people agreeing to pay 500 euro for taxis to Valencia.

As such the next day we caught a bus at like 6am to Valenica airport. We were bored witless at the airport for about 6 hours, but it was worth it

The screen looks like it's breaking. Then it goes to Noel G's interview about how Jay Z shouldn't be there and hip hop had no place at Glasto. Cue a load of recut vids of world leaders, celebs and people in the street reacting to the "outrage" (my fave was Chavez with the subtitle "It's an outrage he's playing!"). Then he came on with Wonderwall playing and got the crowd to sing it. Then everyone was going "JAY Z! JAY Z! JAY Z!". Then he went "I only got one thing to say.................IF YOU HAVING GIRL PROBLEMS I FEEL BAD FOR YOU SON" and everyone went mental

I left and went to watch Holy Fuck instead

But the opening ten minutes of Jay Z's set was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Just before he come on I was worried how everyone would react, but he didn't get where he is today by not knowing how to play a crowd. He absolutely nailed it.

So much so it's put me off listening to them again

And even though I should, I actually don't give a shit they didn't play too many of the 'hits' what they played was jaw dropping and I have to saw, I now consider them indisputably the best band in the world, when 8 years ago I couldn't stand them
