The Tears
Apart from a few s0-so tunes and some appalling lyrics, i quite liked The Tears album. Refugees, Autograph, Ghost of You, Apollo 13 were all good songs
The Rolling People
I think it sounds pretty good on Urban Hymns. One of the better tracks, along with "Come On".
It is
I'm sure it was played on a radio session from around 1994.
What a fucking swindle
The last compilation definitely came out no more than 5 years ago. The record company should be ashamed of themselves. I see it has the obligatory 2 new songs as well to attract the completists
Correct
This review is bang on the money. I think "Casualty" is a really good song, but this kinda thing has been done to death in the last 5 years.
WORD magazine
There is an anti-George Lamb article in this month's Word magazine by the way
The album
I like "Cavorting" and the acoustic version of "Not Nineteen Forever"....but the album is a big disappointment
Long Gone Before Daylight
I've heard that is a really lovely album......i must check it out
T in the Park
I hate it when bands assume that an appearance at T in the Park covers the Scottish leg of the tour!
I LIKE IT A LOT
Think this stuff might get a bit much over the course of a whole album though. I don't expect them to last, but right now they are putting out classic singles
Create your own Morrissey Best Of
The one reviewed above is completely pointless. So, off the top my head, here is my suggestion:
Suedehead
Everyday Is Like Sunday
Hairdresser On Fire
Interesting Drug
The National Front Disco
Certain People I Know
The More You Ignore Me....
Hold On To Your Friends
Sunny
Boxers
Alma Matters
Irish Blood, English Heart
The First of the Gang To Die
Let Me Kiss You
You Have Killed Me
There Is a Light (Live At Earls Court)
Would have been MUCH better!
T in the Park '99
V97 might have been great but T99 certainly wasn't. They pretty much played the whole of "13".....in track order. Then threw us a few scraps by playing one or two hits at the end!
^
Cheers.
The term "Glasvegas"
I have noticed that people who are not from Glasgow have started using the term "Glasvegas" as a supposedly cool thing to call the city........not good
The Charlatans
Say what you want about them but they made 4 great albums in a row between 1995 & 2001.
Polmont On My Mind..
....haha, that's fantastic. I never thought i would see the day that my home village would have a song!
Jealousy of Glasvegas
I think it is true that there is a lot of bad feeling towards Glasvegas in Glasgow at the minute. However, i think it is because they have been knocking about for ages and genuinely were rubbish until "Daddy's Gone" came out. That single took everyone by surprise and i think many of the Glasgow scenesters are pissed off they are getting attention form outside the city
Terrible
That is one of the worst tracklistings on a Best OF/Greatest Hits i have ever seen. I thought this was going to be a great career overview! It's completely pointless
Glasvegas
"Daddy's Gone" and "Flowers & Football Tops" are great. However, time will tell if they can make a whole album of quality like that. Very strange that they are suddenly getting loadsa attention, as they have been around Glasgow for a few years and were considered a bit crap
THE NME ARTICLE
Having read the NME article now, i really don't know what all the fuss is about. It wasn't a stitch-up cos Mozzer gave his thoughts on immigration unprompted. However, all he seemed to be saying was that Britain is a very different place than it was 30 years ago. Not better or worse, just....different
Cool
I LOVED "Phoenix" so much, so i'll be giving this a listen
A Film For The Future?!
Why the hell is that not on it?
The Fountain
Is a great recent soundtrack. Also, a special mention for "Paris, Texas".
Obvious
It was obvoiusly going to happen though just so they could get "Don't Look Back" and "What A Waster" on an album
Mayday
What a strange choice
Production
I agree that Bernard Butler was better than Mick Jones. See the Butler version of "Death On The Stairs" for proof. However, Jones production did have its moments, for example his version of "I get Along" and the wonderful "Can't Stand Me Now".
Red Weather...
...is their best tune but the version on the 1st mini-album/EP thingy is better
Surprised
Was quite suprised by this collaboration. I have never once heard Weller say anything complimentary about Blur.
The View
I must be one of the very few on here who don't mind the View at all. Sure, there is a lot of filler on the album but "Superstar Tradesman" is great. And they caused a riot at a secret gig in my hometown of Falkirk the other week and said they wouldn't be back..so respect for that! Nothing that exciting has happened in Falkirk for many a year
NME hype?!
Don't be daft, the NME never gave them any hype. It now seems that if a band merely appears in NME these days they are being "hyped".
OK
I really don't mind em. Some of the songs are awful (Cloudy Room springs to mind), but i like Either Way and Two Lovers. Nothing wrong with those tunes at all....nice guitars on them.
Great album
I still think this is a great album. Sure, they could've dropped a couple of average tracks from it but it's still a great pop album. "Apollo 13"......wow! Seems weird that it flopped. Think it just shows that Suede are going to be a mere footnote in pop history rather than the headline they deserve to be. Shame.
Guitarist
Oh, and agree about the Guitarist....he's brilliant!
The Twang
I like the fact that everybody has a strong opinion on this band. Personally, i like them. Saw them twice the other week. However, i think "Cloudy Room" is pretty awful - "Lets get some Gianluca, better call the dealer" and all that. "Either Way" is their best tune
Debut
Haven't heard this album yet. I absolutely love his debut album though. "The Fine Art of Self Destruction" is a fantastic record!
I was converted..
I seen them twice this week. In Stirling and Glasgow. I went more to see The Motorettes to be honest but i have to say i enjoyed The Twang. Sure, the laddish attitude grates and their so-called anthem "Cloudy Room" is terrible but i couldn't help but dance when that pure baggy riff from "The Neighbour" started up.
Better Live
I really like this track on the album, not sure it's a great single though. It's their most straight-ahead "indie" tune without their usual dancey-ness. They are brilliant live though
Campag Velocet
I'm pretty sure that Campag weren't the first release, that single came out in '97

Their best album
It's a great lbum i think. A lot of Britpop was very macho, but there was something quite feminine about The Bluetones that i liked a lot. Some of the B-sides from this period were great too:
Colorado Beetle
Glad To See ya Back Again
Nae Hair Ont
Don't Stand Me Down
