I think its better
aif files are the same type as are on CD's - this is not compressed into an mp3 so it will be better quality
The Foals side is pretty damn good in my opinion.
^^
yeh you should just
This band are amazing
Seen them a few times and they always smash it up, really looking forward to the album.
How dare someone be
self critical - he says he considers it flawed - he doesn't "cuss" it
adams you are reductionist, give it a rest.
The mere fact that he has a racist crew
is indictment enough for me, Lydon you are a washed up cunt.
"If you have a racist friend, then that friendship must end"
Yeh
they really actually are very good - post hype, pre hype, whenever - always good.
Same universe
different bands
Love them both, it is allowed you know.
Is that a blood pressure thing?
Stop reading GQ then.
The article did make me lol (as the parlance is I believe).
There is a good point buried in your dense prose, I can't agree more about your take on a "Swellsian" Punk year zero and cannonisation of those involved personally I couldn't give a fuck about Strummer et al in the same way I still have a healthy disdain for the ancient rock gods who didn't get wiped out by punk.
There is an element of truth in the concept of punk in 77 having a clearing out effect in terms of the overblown 60's hangover that was 70's popular music but it was a culmination of an enevitable creative and cultural critical mass. Bollocks to the punk authenticity test though.
You can disregard my views though as I am an Old C**t.
I am damaged then
keep away from me.
when
they get a label that believes in them
nowt here
they really are good!
Negative PR
Camel seem to be amazing at using music to make themselves look bad.
Who sits
at a gig?
Awesome
Nice work Dis.
The people who are saying he is a twat really do not understand. So glad he exists, a total original.
He really doesn't like people he doesn't know does he, I can understand that.
That NME review
the guy didn't like that it was too depressing - thats not a critical review is it?
In his mind does not upbeat mean bad?
I also love this band
they should be treasured.
Kosmiche Musik
or is this some comedy version, yeh I am being pedantic but come on check what you write.
^
??
punk rock
rock
good one
like the band list too
Nice review
well written.
Totally agree about REd Sox Pugie.
and
in the valley there was a beauty and force of friends that could imagine a vast expanse, a trueness sure and pure. many faces but always bon mots.
Velvet Underground
I was 13 and I immersed myself in the music. Never been the same since.
Since when
have they been a fashion scene band, what the fuck does that even mean?
Bristol and Worcester yeh those big fashion centres.
Fuck Buttons were my gig of the year last year and I'm a 40 year old cunt, defo beyond fashion fodder.
Go and see them and stop getting on one when a band get popular, it might well be because they are good.
What the fuck
does that review mean?
But really…
V Good band
And do you honestly think they would script onstage banter, how many times have you said something funny to one lot of people had a laugh and so repeat it to an entirely different group of people, come on everyone does that...
maybe its
gonna be a "lets do a Fopp thing without the getting greedy bit"
So on dis
is this news?
^^ mmm
I take Sitek's judgement over yours anyday.
A terrible loss
It will take a while to completely understand his entire contribution to music and culture in the UK and the rest of the world, but, what we can say right now is we have lost a true original. My condolences to his family and friends.
Good band
great songs, and you can be sure they hate you too.
Looking forward to visiting the store.
Good article indeed, I have to agree about the price not being an issue with music fans, I long to be able to go into a record shop and they say "oh, you like that! have you checked this out?" it used to be an integral part of the experience; I don't see anything wrong with the staff actively selling me more music. I want to get into discussions about bands, related projects, influences, versions etc… and walk out with a big bag thinking "shit I only wanted to spend half that, oh well".
Did you see what that Alex_b wrote
what is he on about?
errrr
except English, white, female, young and not clinically bi-polar
Oxford Rocks
Can't wait for the album... literally I can't wait I have to drugg myself to stop this manifesting itself in some kind of physical way.
Damn silly wedding that I have to go to on Saturday means I'll be out of town for that party... boo.
Oh please
Gillespie has been living a charmed life, a "Scream" albums quality purely relys on who produces it, his lyrics are always embarrasing and the last album was DULL. Boring band aside from their hilarious rock n roll antics: looks like they're on the right label.
I can only agree
Saw them with Big Business in Oxford, very, very heavy.
Imagine
what the studio stuff is going to be like?
I am so very excited about Foals, so young, so experienced for their age, so talented, perfection, energy and they have an amazing determination to create new music.
Yeh I kinda like them.
Also looking forward to Yannis being interviewed.
>
some friends saw them at SXSW and said they were amazing.
When
you say hardcore, do you mean hardcore as in recent hardcore, or stuff from the 80's. I like UMP too, they are punk rock not punk rawk!
Andy
was in Foals for a bit, but he wants to concentrate on Youthmovies, it only ever was temporary.
I really don't think it is an overstatement to say Foals are currently the most exciting band in country.
That they are on Transgressive is great because I feel that its a label that really understands what they have got.
Bad review
Not simply because I couldn't disagree more, but it's poorly thought out and completely misses out on what is going on in that song. So they may be "physically" non threatening, but why should they be scary?? It is a very dark song, very dark.
That drum fill is so funny, it has a wonderful irony to it, and I think its more Miami Vice than 'stenders.
Look if you are going to review something listened to it properly, or just admit to not getting it.
B-sides are genius as well, always good value.
Point taken
yes I get what you are saying now, launched one off too quickly. Like the review.
Why not get this and the Fabric one?
Good work
Nice review.
No
you are wrong it is bad.
It is post-rockish, it is done in the style of some post-rock bands they like.
Like "lets do this in the style of a waltz" well this time they choose "post-rock" without understanding the implications of what that fully entails, so what you get is this lite version complete with saccarin vocal. No real depth, nothing challenging at all.
I have seen them live.
Good stuff...
"let's get one thing straight. For all the good stuff that John Peel did for breaking new artists and championing underground music in general, he was still, to some extents, a businessman. His contract at the BBC wouldn't have come cheaply, and let's not forget the countless television commercials and voiceovers which I somehow don't think he did free of charge."
What has that got to do with anything??
Do you understand that for a long time John Peel was the ONLY person championing the underground on air, the fact he got paid meant he was able to do so. Why is getting paid for your skills and work wrong?
I see you are a contributor, you should perhaps know better.
