Yesterday we ran the first of Ólafur Arnalds' Living Room Songs which was, aptly enough, called 'Fyrsta' - Icelandic for 'first'. A brief explanation is that, like Found Songs, Ólafur is writing, recording and releasing a song a day for the whole of this week.»
The art of releasing an EP or two before and in between full-length records is perhaps being lost. However, Esben & The Witch aren't to blame for this and indeed they'll be releasing another one of these rare things on November 7 through Matador, enti»

When we first heard PJ Harvey's new material, taken from Let England Shake, it was on Andrew Marr's Sunday morning show. Polly Jean has now taken to the same show, albeit this time as part of the backdrop of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. She was interviewed, along with Prime Minister David Cameron and also performed 'The Last Living Rose'.»
At the end of last week Icelandic neo-classic composer Ólafur Arnalds surprised us by announcing Living Room Songs. For those of you familiar with his oeuvre then you will probably remember when he wrote and recorded a free song a day for a week, and turned it into Found Songs. With Living Room Songs he's doing something similar, starting from today. »

Chad Valley - he who is also part of Jonquil - released an EP earlier this year and we bloody well liked it scoring it 8/10. We also got a guide to Oxford from Chad Valley, too. Unfortunate thing was I went a week before it was published. Oh well. Regardless of the travel advice, we've got a remix of 'Shell Suite', which is taken from that EP. »

Ganglians released their new album, Still Living, earlier this year and now there's a video for a track from it. The track in question is called 'Bradley' which also happens to be a man's name. It's like well over six-minutes. And the video is good also. »
Tim Hecker's Ravedeath 1972 made it onto our favourites from the first half of the year and deservedly so, because it is quite frankly brilliant. Don't be surprised to see it up there in our end of year list, although we do like to keep you guessing. It a»

Following on from the near-simultaneous announcement that the Sonic Youth record Hits Are For Squares is going to get a full and proper re-release three years on from its initial release, there are some Thurston Moore shows just announced. On Friday last week we posted a stream of the new dEUS album to listen to over the weekend. It's called Keep You Close and is released next month. The official film of Record Store Day 2011 is called Sound It Out and documents the life of Stockton-on-Tees's last remaining independent record store. In fact, it is the last remaining vinyl record shop in the whole of Teesside. The film premiered earlier this year but to get the film into cinemas there needs to be some extra funding for additional copies, BBFC certification and other administration issues.»

As a kid, it's always good to go to birthday parties because you often get free stuff, like cake and balloons and perhaps a wind-up toy or something. As an adult it changes a little, and in some workplaces it is expected that you will be the one to bring in the goodies.
