ooohhh Shellac

and APTBS and LSV to boot. So wish I was there. THOUGH....Rage at Pinkpop was a pretty sweet consolation prize :)

I like this article

It's a nice idea, it really is. And I totally agree about the importance of reading widely but in my opinion the only ESSENTIAL music press in this country is The Stool Pigeon. It's the only one which leaves me feeling excited about music and optimistic about the state of things :)

Great interview

Really enjoyed it, the first time in ages I've read a dis interview that didn't seem patronising and snide. Keep up the good work :)

Here here

Around the Fur, 1997, one of the greatest albums ever. This is a very UK focused piece - and fair enough - but in no way reflects MY '97 which was all about Aenima (late '96), still my fave record to this day. Aah, the memories.

GUTTED

This sucks. I knew it was to good to be true - just like the Dillinger Escape Plan/Meshuggah show that never happened last year. Sigh.

silverchair

When I was bout 11, immediately followed by Tool, and then all was lost.
Spose they were the Aus equivalent of Nirvana back then, after all...

Good taste

I must say. And find the enthusiasm again!

Help!

I love(d) this brilliant, flawed band with all my heart but I REALLY can't stand this record! And I don't give a shit about the back story when the music doesn't cut it. I hope I grow to love it and eat my words :(

In the nicest possible way..

This is a strange review, particularly as you fail to even mention the presence of Rage Against the Machine at all...Ok, might not be your cup of indie but come the fuck on!

Autolux!

Woo! So exciting.

So disappointed with this album

Really surprised it's been given such a high score. I've considered myself a fan for awhile but after this release and their dullass show at Bush hall earlier this year I've pretty much given up on them. Still, Pretty In Black is a great record.

Anyone at the Water Rats last night?

Some old bastards started getting violent and Andy ripped them TO SHREDS, verbally of course. Hilarious. Truly in a league of their own.

Why has no one mentioned Unkle?

I was completely blown away. Had no expectations, thought it'd just be DJs but it was absolutely one of the best performances of the year. Pumpkins slayed also, glad you noticed Gareth!

Trent Reznor

Is still making some of the best music out there after cleaning up.
