Good to see you in full stream again Jordan

Surely the US will get the fresh honest start it needs right now.

I was mightily mistreated at a DiS covered alldayer last year

Didn't think it was the pro thing to do by letting off steam with a rant and then calling it an article.

Excellent article Alexander

You are right about the subject matter of the Redhead being his future wife. I interviewed him for Comes With A Smile 3 years ago and asked him about his muse. He confirmed that they had since married but he was keen to keep her out of the press so I told him I wouldn't mention this in my article.

I love it Sean

Very the best and most easy to to tour and jump around.

Fine work!

xx

Yeah, you're right Keith

Lifted from the enemy:

TOTP's Greatest Moments.
The Jesus Lizard (1992)
Such was Kurt Cobain’s influence, when he made good on a promise to do a split single with grungers Jesus Lizard, TOTP were forced to book the Chicago band. “It was fun" said singer David Yow, “but Nirvana were the only reason we got on the show.”

I was just thinking the same thing

Cool cryptic header Gareth, Hawaiian flower, and all that..

Hahaha!!

... :-)

Another Morning
Windows of the world.

Thanks for the update

The junction website doesn't work so I've put phone number on the listings page. Cheers.

Gotcha John

I saw you at Pie Minister too and mighty good they were.

Waaaaa!!! We love Mike!!

sob sob sob :-(

Gotminegotminegotmine

London = £39.60 inc booking fee.

Off to Green man now :-)

Nail hit on head Ms H

I had to write the piece in a far more generalised way than would be the case with a DiS-only interview for obvious reasons. Mike wanted to run it here too. End of.

Gigsandtours

9am Friday for all of them

Cardiff and Norwich will merge

Two sisters, one Troxy.

Then some shitty B&B.

Sounds pretty heavenly actually.

who cares

a tyops a typo :-)

I'm so excited!

It's easy to miss on the phone Mike but the Mountain is called the Sugar Loaf.

Lovely memories of the first Green Man Festival there. We all slept in dormitories and the only pre-fest publicity was the odd local press article (one of which, written by me) and a bunch of flyers that Jo and Danny paid my teenage son £40 to take round Cardiff, Swansea and Newport. Little acorns eh?

See you in the Rumpus!

Great essay Mike

Was playing this only a couple of weeks back and it still feels as it did back in '92

xx

i was mailed by Brizzle

to say that one was cancelled yesterday.

Arse.

They're playing for free this Sunday

In Cardiff as part of the Big Weekend outside the civic centre. They're on at 19.05. Young Knives and Ash are playing too plus Natasha Atlas on the Saturday.

Oh, The Automatic are the "guests to be announced"

No I haven't but...

... I reviewed them briefly for last year's Green Man Festival for DiS:

"A little later, sounds of traditional folk melodies with percussive clog dancing drifts from the main stage as DiS rests on the banking, watching clouds and flying ducks as we let the Green Man vibe reset our stress meters. Rachel Unthank and the Winterset are the source."

No Way!

How cool :-)

I was there too!!

That was a truly amazing gig. They gave everything (everything) you could want from dance, electro-, live, rock or just sheer spectacle.

Also, i see in the comments mention of their last two albums; if you haven't discovered the download only, first three in the riverrun series, then make sure you do. "I'm a Big Sister, and I'm a Girl, and I'm a Princess, and this is my Horse" is 30 minutes of post-rave genius. Go get!

Volcano! 's 2nd is out soon

DiS gave their 1st 10/10. I want to know where they've taken it now.

looooong link

Wuh? Eh? What?

"Having so enjoyed marching round with a proud erection stood between his loins, instead of a sordid one night stand Nick Cave had underlined that his pursuits with Grinderman would inform the next Bad Seeds record."

is that so?.... hmmm

i would have been under the impression that it was a joint discussion thing - but i suppose RCs know best...

The blurb that came...

... with my copy had Eitzel describe each track. For Decibels... he said "The label chose the single."

Interesting.

At Last!!!!

I've been feverishly checking daily for this news.

Pack...

... or peck?

I love word games :-)

Thank you :-)

You really don'tknow what that comment means to me! xxxxx

i saw him at Swn on sunday

Yup. i liked him very much. twangy and bluesy but not depressive. good tunes

So much to see and do and choose from

I'm going nuts with trying to plan my Swn diary. Cross referencing and tangling. I'm starting at Chapter tomorrow night if anyone else is too, then heading for the Bay!

Yippee!!!

Talking of Weddo's

THE WEDDING PRESENT plus special guests Lucky Soul

Sunday 25th November 2007, The Point, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff Bay

£13 7:30pm

Saw him in Cardiff

Pretty much agree with this review on the strength of my experience.

While I'm here, I'll add that I was really disappointed with Release The Stars. I'd hoped that seeing it performed live would give it the spontaneous life so lost in the obsurdly overblown arrangements, but with the exception of that one about Paris (that was jaw dropping ethereal magic,) the gig just confirmed my worst thoughts on the album.

Good wordy review Alex.

but they WONT shell out

it'll go on expenses if they can get away with it.

i'm delighted not to be listed as an industry scum Kev :-)

Still with us huh!

I saw them support PJ Harvey in '93, i think it was. Filthy!

THanks for your feedback Matt S 1

I really laboured over this review to make sure I represented it the best I could - so thanks for the encouragement.

xx

Brill interview lady...

... XXX

What a fucking cynic!

tch!

Sean..

...it was the right way to review this album. My imagination has been lit and I will be buying it, whereas i might not have before.

Children children!

Go and see The Super Furrys for yourself. It will be a far more enjoyable experience all round than trying to imagine what you missed, armed with only my scant review.

Since you're asking ESC

I came to the side for the last three and they sounded brill. So..

A. i could review on just those three
B. i could make something up (as I'm sure counteless reviewers do every day - DiS EXCEPTED OF COURSE!
or C. I could have not caught up with an old mate because I was working.

I chose a happy medium.

You're right: It's almost not worth bothering with. (hehehe..)

He plays down in Cardiff pretty regularly

at parties or lately, at street markets. pretty cool guy and loads of fun.

Warm up show?

I'm seeing him this Sunday in a field at Crickhowell in the Brecon Beacons.

Can't wait!

x

I'm with Yes

It's a funny tale before it gets violent, then she's just a rowdy cunt. Not cool nor clever, the silly bint.

Good work Dom!

...

I'm with you on the tix issue

Just last week we were asked if we'd like to cover it and the accreditation paper insisted it was returned to them by 25/6. Not much uptake then.
