Bubbi...
And his most popular song "Fjöllin hafa vakað" (The Mountains have woken): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwiJ_Qf6G8E
Chose this clip because that guy with the white hair in the crowd near the start is the President of Iceland.
I was thinking of offering a translation
But there's not really much to translate! Basically, it was for Independence Day, as far as I can see you need to be signed in to stream full songs. Not a problem though! Because there is an English-language way around this, by visiting http://www.icelandicmusic.com/ you should be able to sign up for the free trial and you'll have a Username and Password.
No. 25 - Loftmynd by Megas is a real treat, revered by Icelandic speakers for his astounding use of the language and confusing non-speakers (and even some natives) at the same time.
Oh and Bubbi Morthens was big in the 80s when he was part of the "pönk"" or "punk" scene. Now he's just a money grabbing whingemeister. Still has some decent old songs mind you.
Saw her live...
in Tin Angel, Coventry. She was wonderful... looking forward to hearing this.
I really hope...
that this doesn't catch on. With Songbird, browsing these blogs for great rarities is fantastic for music discovery. I've noticed a few of the more popular blogs mentioning being served with the dreaed "cease and desist".
To stifle this sort of online social music discovery and discussion is tantamount to the labels shooting themselves in the neck with a needle full of pure AIDS. At least the labels of the past turned a blind eye tp copious bootlegging of live material as they had an almost mutal understanding with their fans/customers.
These supposedly modern companies are showing freakishly primitive thinking.
Now haven't The Pirate Bay got some sort of uncensored blog hosting? That will certainly be the future if they manage to keep seemingly every media outlet of their back's.
Playing in...
Coventry tonight and got a quite tidy tour coming together.
I like it...
it does have a somewhat Observer Music Monthly feel to it mind. Not a bad thing though, looking forward to some good reading.
Shame
Looked like a pretty decent line up from what I saw
agreed
completely.
The Icelandic government are disgustingly bad at looking after the country in some areas and lots of people can't really seeing it getting any better. They also seem to be telling people that this is all taking part in areas of the country where noone will really miss. Which is bullshit because there's a beautiful warm river in the hills out near Hveragerði (30 min drive from Reykjavík) which is in big danger.
That bird on a string grafitti thing...
was painted on my girlfriends old flat building. Good ol' Grettisgata 6
Ironic though...
...that this free concert to raise environmental airlines has been exploited by the airlines, no?
Still, shaping up to be an ace day of music. Ghostigital are also on the bill and the rumours were rife that Radiohead were the mystery foreign band. This looks to be untrue though.
FM Belfast too, apparently. Woooop!
Safe.
Saw him in Coventry, lovely little man with lovely little music.
Well...
I definitely would.
Two words...
Shit Sandwich.

Rappers are, like, SO cool...
Re: Razorlight
Besides, I was talking bout the fans anyways.
Razorlight
As for the band being arrogant? I have no idea where people get this idea, I spoke to the Johnny Borrel and he was a bloody nice bloke, was willing to chat with the fans and didnt fob anyone off.

Nýja lagið
...I don't think that is actually the title of the song, it just means "the new song".
Still, can't believe it's been ten years, crazy times.
