meh, it's just a bit too easy.

It seems kind of a waste when bands do this.

So much time and effort goes into an album, you must have *something* to call it.

Also, all the song names (of songs that I've heard) are really annoyingly obvious.

i'm not sure, but i think komakino are keen to distance themselves from derby.

if you've never heard of any of the bands then i recommend Plans and Apologies, Twinkie, Lardpony, Ima Nemic and YouNoGoDie in particular.

i agree about the slint/mogwai thing.

but if mono claim to have only heard Young Team then i believe them. people are always saying my band sounds like idlewild, which i accept, i love(d) idlewild; but also we get a lot of comparisons to Spy vs Spy, and to some people's disbelief none of us have ever heard any of their stuff.

it is possible that their mogwai-isms have come from another source.

loads of people throw up the mogwai connection but i think mogwai is very much "one idea repeated over and over, sometimes getting loud", which i like, but that to me is generic post-rock. Mono, 'walking cloud' in particular, have a depth in their arrangements which mogwai lack.

also, i've seen both of them live a couple of times and mono just performed better; braithwaite and co just seeming to be going through the motions.

(i am fully aware that this is an unpopular opinion, i have friends who are huge fans of the 'gwai)

I bought this last summer from a gig, just because I'd never seen it or Under the Pipal Tree in any shops. They're both pretty weak, especially considering that One Step More.. and Walking Cloud are flawless works of beauty.

ha ha, i was about to post a demo until i read £20 a ticket. ha ha.

from a promoting point of view, this is fail-safe. Everyone who wants to play is going to be able to get 12 people at least, no probs, the promoter does no promoting and no money is at risk.


p.s. I went to the Edwards all-dayer thing in brum, it was pretty grim really, cost too much and all the bands i saw were shit.

Mew are ace. Frengers is one of the most gorgeous pieces of work ever recorded. The live show is going to be phenomenal. The new album is going to be best.

komakino used to sound a lot like interpol/joy division, but the new single's sort of libertines-y. so i don't know what to tell you.

i would say that crime in general would decrease dramatically during any festival that Pete Doherty is playing at.

i've had the displeasure of hearing two songs.

This one is overly melodramatic but lacking in real emotion.

The first one i heard (i'm not okay) is the worst thing i've heard for a long time.

i disagree, i would say the lyrics are more focal on postal service stuff as the music is quite stripped down.

either way i think his lyrics are genius, no cliches, no cheesy metaphors; Title and Registration is particularly good lyrically.

ignore him, we've had the death cab argument many times and ultimately he's one of those weird people who loves the Postal service and hates Death cab because "the postal service lyrics are so much better".

Go figure.

in the last 6 months i've had three A&R men from big labels who've offered to come and see us play but then break all contact as soon as i mention we live and gig in the east midlands.
