don't forget the sundays

much better than the satrurdays

why can you this on the boards

but not on the comments?

Live

they're phenomenal.

queer joy

tres excitement!

"Basically it's quite trendy and electro-poppy"

Trendy, yeah its the Mercuries, but electro poppy.. who else on that list qualifies as electro pop other than La Roux..?

Surely we all lost faith in the Mercury Music Prize years ago, its a way to get underperforming albums to sell better.

I honestly don;t care who wins ,the only reason i was pleased when Elbow won was because they've been grafting for ages and appear to have won from merit.

Oh dear

Kevin Barnes sounds like that annoying bloke with the crazy hat on at festivals...

*pop* goes my bubble about him.

I have a copy of Nobody's Daughter

It's gash country rock balladeering.

New Hole woudl eb amazing but it isn't really going to be Hole now, is it?

Crying shame.

I went to my first Glastonbury in 1999

and it was the best and worst festival experience in my life, being maimed and robbed was a low, but the random who took pity on me and brought me booze and drugs was a high, so was finding my friends when i was wandering wround drinking vodka from the bottle (in the days before you had to put yr spirits in plastic bottles). REM and Skunk Anansie were Glastonbury momnents for me that year, truly phenomenal. Other Glastonbury moments include watching Amy Winehouse on Jazz World in 2003 (or 2002, i don;t remember) in the pissing rain and her saying "Ah, it's raining, i'll sing this and make the sun come out" and low and behold a rainbow appeared over the stage....

I've been to every Glastonbury that has taken place since and it has changed for better and for worse in plenty of different ways. The reason we all go is because it is so vast and varied. I'm gonna have a day of techno and a day of pop this year, no other festivals offer me that option.

so do typos

Nostaligia

rules!

I must say

i loved Dead Disco, esp You're Out.. this is good but not excellent or promising.

Kap Bambino

Didn't court controversy in quite the same way did they? Nor did they really get embraced by the skinny jean wearing masses quite like Crystal Castles...

So who stole who's sound now? Does that really matter? The amount of soundalike bands fronted by guys is myriad, whereas punked up electro bands fronted by females aren't so much.. Crystal castles and Kap Bambino can exist at the same time and are quite vastly different if you actually listen to their albums

Lazy misogynistic jounalism, i salute you.

Bollocks

Come on kids

it was fucking amazing, i don't think is topped dancing or smiling the whole time (apart form the numerous trips to the bar, more reasons why such a small venue is amazing).

I was totally underwhelmed by the SLTS cover but think that they did it well i just think they should have played The Past Is A Grotesque Animal last instead.

That aside best gig i've seen for moons and moons... i agree Re the festival season, i thought they would be at Reading last year and then they didn't play... maybe chuck em on at whatever curious glade of madness Glastonbury throws at us this year..

:O)

When

did EVERYBODY start listening to and debating Girls Aloud? 2 years ago i was slapped in the face for doing so..

i so

already ahve my ticket.. this is gonna be amazing.

lazy?

are you on crack?

:(

Every year i cry because none of my friends will ever want to go... this year is worse.. this line up makes me moist..

I still

haven't heard it but everything i've read seem positive. A departure from the sound that made you is gonna loose them fans though and will it win any new ones.. critical success but a commercial failure?

Still i'm looking forward to it immensely.

Daydream

is on Gish... blergh

Are you serious?

Really?

Most of the lyrics are trite at best, laughable at worst..

Background music for sunbasthing in yr urban concerete garden

yey.

i thought they might decide to wqait an age to release a new album... i'm a bit gutted they're not playin manc so i can get a preview of the stuff, though "here comes the serious bit" was fun at reading this year

Well

Modernaire
The Whip
Elle S'apelle

Gutted

I <3 Sufjan

Surely

It's record industry fun used to increase sales or to celebrate them.. no?

Yey

etc....

and a manchester date too!!!!

i hope they are a one hit wonder, i do..

so they won't have to bow to much record company pressure to make a shitty and convoluted followup...

did they stick with KRS in the states? i heard they did the major label sign..

was that

ever in dispute?

i'm not happy with this

They wrote a raido friendly stomper by some kind of fluke and now they get compared to it constantly.. it is a great song but should we judge all their others the same.. the knives out for GOXXIP.

I agree, their back catalogue is amazing, and Movement stands head and shoulers above SITWOC..

Also they're being treated like they're some new phenomenon who've got no staying power whatsoever..

Riot grrl was never ment for the mainstream, was it?

Stellar

review, someone buy that man a drink... i read it this morn and have only just got round to commenting.. good man.

Fantastic Plastic

anyone...?

hmmmm

some of these comments are very similar to,....

http://www.theconsole.co.uk/music/labels/Fantastic%20Playroom.html

esp

as live they're fucking stunning

You doin't know shit

mate

What worries me more

Is that this post has become a fucking hive of adverts... to stop being pissed off when the adverts come on press mute, make a brew, read a magazine, have a quickie... simply just don't watch them and then when someone finally tells you about it you won't care because you won't have been tainted by it constantly.

Whether you bitch about it or not bands are going to do it anyway because not only does it get them some cash it gets them exposure and apart from the complete indie stalwarts that's what they want, for more people to hear their music. People who like a song on an advert may not be pure of spirit when it comes to finding out about music but at least they know a good tune when they hear one.

its

lets start with the bears and the air... the execution of all things...

wonderful album.

Hmm

I think all formats have their merits, and the younger you are the less you appreciate those that may well ahve passed you by. I still love my records but don't really buy tapes except for aesthetic reason, and price. i love my germ free adolescents by x ray spex that cost me 50p

My dad used to make me mix tapes when i was a kid with my fave pop albums (madonna, micheal jackson etc) spliced with his favourite latter day pop (anything form 60;s stuff to elo, frankie goes to hollywood) and i still have them and they're still awesome...

I think we need to look to the generation before us and see how much mixtapes and cassettes meant to them..

Did anyone ever get prosecuted for home taping?

I still

haven't heard this yet but i can't imagine it being bad at all.. all the tracks i've heard are spot on.. i'm glad its a departure form FSDT cuz you coudl only milk that rhetoric for so long..

Excited!

It wasn't

really a queue fest... esp if you have the wonderous blagging skills and a tall scandinavian woman on yr arm.

HSCS

made me fall inlove with music again with fashionista super dance troupe... now i'm salivating for this next album...

yey...

i've been singing this song to myslef for a good 3 weeks now.

does this mean

they'll be playing glastonbury seeing as they're in the country at the time...???

*crosses fingers*

Yawn

!

bollocks

i really think off the hook is one of the best on the album, it reminds me a bit of sleater-kinney which makes me happy...

alala was a poor choice as single and possibly the worst track on the album..

to be fair css are milking it but they've been touring like mofo's as well..

considering

that these guys have brought an element of old skool riot grrl to the mianstream, if they didn't get some kind of negative response i'd be amazed..

but i'm also sure that most of this negative reponse comes from people who don't bother with previous under exposed and under rated albums which are posibly better.

Plus she's a fat dyke, how much of a positive response can she and the band expect from such a homophobic scene.. and don't go saying that ain't one of yr reaons cuz i won't believe you..

threatened much?

i really like this song

and i think that dancing and thinking can be mutually exclusive.. unless yr thinking about how yr dancing...

bags of fun and no, not too serious as most danceable tunes aren't, still prob spot on on the life expectancy

didn't

they meet at bible camp or something?

*shudder*
