Shimmy
System Of A Down
the man...

Tony Visconti reckons JDB also has the loudest voice he's ever recorded. Awesome.
Nice Dream

Mr_P speaks the truth
Fantastic show at the NIA, even from right at the back where I was stuck. The band were excellent and Copeland is just stunning, particularly when doing his percussion bits.
Fictionplane were utter utter dogdrivelgashwank though.
thanks
i'll have a bit of that.
i know very little of the big guy, but its a sad day nonetheless

To All..
After 5 years and 4 wicked cool records, we have decided to put yourcodenameis:milo on an indefinate hiatus.
We are all exceptionally proud of all we have achieved as a band, but feel it is time to move on and explore new paths both musical and non musical.
We are eternally grateful to everyone who supported us through it all, came to the shows, bought the records...plus all the bands we played with and the people we met along the way.
We hope it meant as much to you as it did to us.
cheers for being there.
Justin, Paul, Adam, Ross, Shaun.
I know none of you buggers
but I'll be there anyway - all the way from sunny (but recently flooded) cheltenham.
I've only ever heard Popular
just today again in fact. I love how its so damn angsty without getting heavy. Will I like the rest of their stuff, d'y'suppose?
wrong
both buildings firmly within cheltenham
both without mains water at the moment. interesting. no japanese water torture going on there tonight then.
I notice there is no tube back
in the evening, no westbound trains from mile end. Hrrmphh
yep, awesome band
especially live. scott tends to get a bit overexcited.
album out in august on sugar shack.
amazingly, whoever was dj-ing when metallica played wembley last weekend played one of their songs - twice. twas fucken awesome to hear them in there.
hmmm
youre right
it felt like quite a short set actually. i remember 3 1/2 hour sets in 1991. lightweights!
no st anger stuff is no surprise though really. they only ever played st anger and frantic regularly, probably because the rest of it was shit IMHO.
set, in no particular order:
whiplash, 4 horsemen, seek+destroy
fade to black, creeping death, for whom the bell tolls
battery, master of puppets, disposable heroes, orion
and justice for all, one
enter sandman, sad but true, nothing else matters, the unforgiven
the memory remains
no leaf clover
I think that was all.
I'm in the minority....again
I absolutely fucking love this album, and it actually changed my life (drama!!), in that it made me pick up a guitar and play it in an entirely different way (read: something other than power chords). been playing like that in bands ever since.
thank you showbiz!
absolutely love VFVD
I think I'm alone now...........
Not spent enough time with the new one to decide yet, a position that it appears posters above have also been in previously.
Six
Mansun
Concept-tastic!
Ive been listening to it all day
Underwhelmed to start with. I was hoping to have my head taken off, BUT
after 10 plays or more, i'm really starting to notice some moments of magic, and plenty of things which I think would not be out of place on machina or even mellon collie
tis good ya!
no way
get tae fuck
the atrocity on infity land is the skipitt track
crasp is blinding
Sorry, but this is bollocks
I've always felt that the Pumpkins IS corgan and chamberlain. Thats the core, the backbone, the chemistry of this band, always has been.
Neither of the other two made any great contribution musically, lyrically or sonically, and so it happens that the pumpkins sound just like the pumpkins without them. If you closed your eyes on Tuesday night, you knew exactly what band you were watching, and you knew who was definately there, but had no idea who wasn't there. The bass player could have easily been any one of the three, and I'm sure Ginger would readily admit that.
I don't see this recurring 'but its just not the pumpkins without....' bullshit when discussing other bands where founding members have left. Or for instance the lastest QOTSA album.
agreed
the only thing i would criticise was the sound. i know billy likes his distortion to border on treacle-like, but guitars and bass were sooooo muddy, sometimes to the point that it became very difficult to hear the pitch of them (musos might understand this - or i might be spouting shite!).
otherwise, very good IMHO, and i paid £92.25 for my ticket and incurred travel+parking costs of £25. Ouch
Whilst I'm on a slightly relevant thread - Zeitgeist - 07.07.07. By my reckoning, thats a Saturday. Anyone know how thats gonna work??
puzzle
fo sure
Those ones will go for £10-25 each....
....depending on how many are up at any one time. Iname and thekidswhopop.... both go for stupid cash nowadays, and this has been the case for sometime, certainly long before puzzle dropped.
Thinking of selling mine too actually. Need the cash and have ripped the fantastic set of bsides.
worst post for a long time

hey
where can i hear this??
Folding Stars
Announced as the next single today.
:(
The biffy-love-in is over in this house.
thanks guntrip
nice description, but i'm none the wiser!!
could someone
please describe this band for me??
musically I mean.
and where might one find such a feast?
pres tell........?
9/15ths
which is odd, as I'm a jaggy snake man
the intro/outro to get fucked stud is also tres ace, but a bit weedy inbetween.
I disagree
By the same measure I therefore have overplayed VoB many many times over, listening to it and nothing else for weeks on end, yet it still blows me away and nestles firmly in my top 5 albums of all time.
Key point here...........
.........two people in this thread have said they are bored/sick of this album already. That is very important. I too am sick of it, and can empathise with the person above who said 'get fucked stud' is the only thing left of interest on it.
The other three albums still get heavy rotation in my world, because they are interesting/challenging/original, and thats what made biffy great. This one lacks those things that keep people's attention, and IMO doesn't sound like a biffy record because of that. I predict people WILL get bored. And thats the same thing that is making people call it a sell out.
Personally, I'm gutted at what I've come to think of this album. It could have been so much more.
2 great albums
lantern and six - the latter a bonafide masterpeice
little kix finished them off I think
if anyone cares......
new pumpkins would appear to be:
bass - Ginger Reyes

Buy onto a tour
In a support slot for a decent artist in a similar vein to your band, thats pulling decent crowds.
