it is (a)

grasshopper.

seriously, go and see this band live

i was fortunate enough to see them cos i'm in nyc over the summer and they're very good. i don't thing the youtubes here really do justice. they sounded much better when i saw them.

this is a shame

he was always my favourite member. he's really cute on stage.

he's supporting

of montreal in paris.

apparently.

DiS:

a very very serious website!!!!!

much as i dislike this on principle,

hearing that there will still be a small, downstairs sized venue has made me less negative about the whole thing. it seems now it'll have the facilities for all the bands that they currently put on, plus others that they havent been able to. which is a good thing.

so yeah. im reserving judgement for now.

this, actually.

bloc party are shit in large venues. they kinda work in small ones.

will this be really really good?

should i get tickets?

OMG

YOUR STUPID LOL.

wow! i think i will be back in sheffield when this happens!

hooray!

i like situationists. but umlaut were better.

i think im going to see them in oxford.

they clash with tilly and the wall though. its a tough choice.

buy it on import?

imports are more fun anyway. and cheaper.

situationists are really good.

although its difficult not to keep comparing them to umlaut, which is bad, because umlaut were better.

i want a ticket to the london gig.

does anyone have a spare one?

you said someone high up there must love them.

i was telling you that you were correct.

its called discussion. the bringing together of ideas. its what people do on message boards.

it was the president of interscope

who signed them in the first place.

wut?

they really dont sound like arctic monkeys. at all.

wasnt 10,039/smoothed out slappy hours

a re-release anyway? i though it was an amalgamation of two records...

they have flyers on the wall. i walk past it when ever i go to co-op, so i see it.

they dont seem to be very good flyers though. i only know about frank turner because i saw it on his myspace.

by the last part

i meant there arent many people playing there ie there arent many gigs lined up.

the jericho tavern still puts people on

frank turner is there on the 20th. but there arent many people there...

trees grow

back.

i do think its insensitive to construct

conspiracy theories which clearly have no basis in fact about events which killed thousands of people.

matt bellamy is clearly

a fucking idiot and insensitive to boot.

its not field music

they do 'if only the moon were up' though. i like that song.

adam gnade too! awesome!

clashing with los campesinos is bad though.

"it was their first gig in 2 years in the UK."

well, thats just a lie. they played leeds/reading last year.

people

commonly use the phrase 'exception that proves the rule' to refute points made against absolute statements. however, sadly for them, this is a misuse of the phrase; in this context, the word 'prove' is meant in its original meaning; to test (the use of 'prove' in the sense of proving correct is merely a shorter version of saying 'proved correct' ie tested correct. so when we say 'the exception that proves the rule', we are actually saying a phrase coined with the sense of 'the exception that tests the rule', which gives the exactly opposite meaning.

funny isnt it, how little things like that can have a massive effect on peoples view of proof.

what? contrived?

surely all songs are contrived, what with them being written and everything...

anyway, i like this a lot. i used to think i didnt like anything the yeah yeah yeahs had done after the ep, but this changed my mind. its really, really good.

its a bit funny if

you pronounce it 'pooned'.

he just got

pwned.

they have left luggage

no-one uses it. its not because theres a massive queue or anything, because no-one uses it. if people dont use that, why would they use lockers?

this was possibly the most annoying

thing.

the arena was exactly the same size as in the past, but with more people. the difference was very noticeable.

i think the mistake here

is assuming that theres actually a major problem. 260 crimes spread over three days at a festival with a capacity of 80,000 people really isnt that many at all; it think its actually less than the national rate...

ultimately, its a really fucking big campsite which is quite empty for most of the day; theres a limit to how secure it can possibly be; how would more security help? how would they know whether or not the person getting the really expensive camera out of a tent is the owner of it or not?

frankly, i dont see what could ever be done to improve the situation (leeds and reading already have left luggage areas, even if they seem to be very underused), but neither do i think the situation is at all bad; festival crime sucks a lot, but ultimately it isnt very widespread.

doh!

i couldnt be bothered to move from the comedy tent, so i didnt go and see them at leeds. damn.

saying something is

'the best' is by definition extreme, because its an absolute statement. being extreme doesnt automaticaly make something wrong, or controversial, or take away any merit. it just means its an extreme opinion.

the fact that you put it forward as an opinion

doesnt mean it isnt an extreme opinion, because it is.

that is horrific.

frankly,

i dont see why people care that much. its not like its the only venue in a small city, where its closure will ruin the music scene; the closure of the astoria will have pretty much no effect whatsoever on music in london.

i think they should leave the ice

in the hull ice arena, and like, make them play on it. itd be great.

in all fairness

the fact that this is the only website that i've ever come across this problem on suggests it is at least partly the site thats at fault....

oops

i forgot a question mark there. silly.

does anyone know

whether or not there are still places left to steward at this. i really want to go, but i dont have 95 quid, and cant justify selling my leeds ticket to go to a festival that none of my mates are going to. i want to go so much though. argh.

i saw that

i LOLed a little bit.
