International Twat

Sounds like someone at Mercenary just assumed the reviews were bad after St. Anger and got into 'Metallica's press bodyguards' mode without reading them properly.

Then got made to look like a twat internationally by the band!
Hahaha!

In your face, power trippin' sucka! etc. etc.

Or maybe...

...it's the banana diet.

Erm...

...I don't see a single 'hater' above.

And I'm afraid that Madonna joke is extremely dated.

I want...

...a Bernard Sumner bus pass holder next please.

Shame

because I really like the cover.
The cover deserves better.

Plus,

Mongolian, you have Counting Crows as a 10?

I do not value you opinion an anything.

^^^*edit*^^^

I meant *aren't as affecting ot important

Hmm...

...without them the nu-metallers and nu-acoustic (bah!) acts would be ruling music.

They came in like a 5-headed Travis Bickle and washed away the scum, opening the floodgates for countless other bands to get through. Yes, maybe their other albums are as affecting or important as 'Is This It' but then very very few have been since Nevermind.

As for that Kings of Leon comment, you are so far off the mark it's laughable.
Without the Strokes breaking through back in the day KOL wouldn't be playing arenas nowadays.

Those bloody gangsta boys...

...I do wish they would play nice.

erm...

no.

"I didn't see a band all weekend, I was so wasted..."

All good points in this article and mostly good points by the above comments too.

I'd add another, that after the supposed 'indie-explosion' the younger folk just want to go to A festival, and the cheaper the better. When they get there they're more bothered about getting wrecked, trying to pull and film bands on their camera phones rather than actually watch bands.

I reckon the slump in sales at this point may be a blessing in disguise for old Glasto. The people who REALLY want to go will cough up the money no matter what.

And I think the Jay Z bashing is unfair. The more open minded music fan (i.e. not those on NME.com) will look forward to a change from guitars.

Oh dear

fancy dress?
you really were asking for it weren't you?
You're probably the type who holds up signs to girls advertising 'free hugs'.

Grow up.

How frustrating...

I download music because, 9 times out of 10 anyway, I am looking to buy the CD and/or go to a gig and would like a preview or the stuff.

I'll probably buy less music than I do now because of this, not more.

Its a shame that after the online success of acts such as Arctic Monkeys and Kate Nash etc. which has lead to actual financial 'success' in the eyes of the record industry, the BPI want to put an end to it all.

This will do more harm than good for new, up and coming bands who rely on filesharing to get their stuff heard.

An open letter to Charmillion

"Go off a find some real fucking problems to moan about"

Says the person who's moaning at the moaners?

(And with quite lengthy comments, I might add)

You're the one getting angry at messageboard posts.

Go off and find some real fucking important people to moan at.

*For window

read 'fucking window'

Well...

...thanks for throwing my earlier democratic approach right out of the window.

I think it's be funny...

to ask them what they are actually angry about.

What is it in particular that you are unhappy about?
My jeans?
Why?

To quote Jermaine Clement:
"Be more constructive with your feedback"

Ha

I can relate to this, beard etc.
A lot of stick you get is in good humour.

I've found recently there's an increase in abuse from 'Gary Beer' types (Kasabian fans/stuck in Britpop, you know the type).

I was flyering a month ago and one of these cheeky monkeys said 'Fuck off, don't want that from you, you look like a Horror'

Granted I was wearing black.
Touche, knob head.

Good point

So then in every post on this article from now on replace 'chav' for 'some knuckleheaded white male youth'.

It's just quicker to type, and you know what people mean by it.

You're right about the poor education/violent crime connection.
Even if you did find it in the Metro.

P.S.

Please read 'chav' as general sportswear yob/violent tribe.

and 'emo' as goth/punk/emo/skater/indie/metal/whatevermusic tribe is on the recieving end of the attacks.

Fear

It seems to me that the chav tribe lives in fear.
They don't want to look 'gay', they don't want to look soft, they want to look hard. I saw it all at school.

They're intimidated by people who don't care what they think, because they're ruled by the opinion of others themselves.
They envy the 'don't give a shit' attitude of the Emos etc.

Granted, emos and chavs dress sense is tribalistic. It's happened since year zero. What's wrong with emos wanting to belong to a group? What's wrong with chavs wanting to belong to a group? Nothing.
It's the attitudes of respective parties, not the clothes, that incite violence.

Addmittedly this article is sensationalist, but it got a discussion going, and isn't that the point?

Hmm...

Although I reckon they're never going to top that first album, I still think that anything new from The Kills is a hell of a lot more interesting that 99% of the shite being fed to us nowadays.

You need a band that fucking live it, rather than do it, like a gang, where everything from the videos to the artwork is decided/designed by them.

A case in point, Foals videos. "Yes, we will do angular dances that make us look daft, if you're sure it'll sell? Should I wear those turquoise trainers?"

Although a bit daft, he's spot on with that voodoo. There's no gang attitude anymore, no band to really get into. Just 'tracks' as NME now puts it.

AS Reznor once said, "Eat birthday cake for every meal, and you're eventually going to get sick."

Testify.

Hahaha

He is even more deluded than I thought. And terrible attempt at controversy with the princess Di thing. He had to actually reiterate it.

I don't think there was one question on here that was intended to wind him up. If you take the questions out of context and apply them to, say, Sugababes, people would be saying "What a boring interview, why didn't you press them on such-and-such"
As it is with Anton, he seems to think that everything is a reason to get defensive. I think he's pissed off that he's never going to match the musical achievement of his heroes, as he hates when any influence is mentioned. He inverts it, "I am the influence!".

Yes. Ok. Shut up.
