Having interviewed Matthew
I'm pretty sure it's a joke as it's the type of thing he does in interviews. The funniest thing is how all the press jump on it. I love both bands and wouldn't be surprised if Matthew likes Radiohead too. He's just being silly. Get over it.
I'm going to have to check these guys out one of these days
they sound like they probably sound superb but I've never stumbled across any recordings yet.
^epic fail
sorry.
They're hardly rock though. That's a point. Actually, nor are Belle and Sebastian. Fair point then.
Probably shows I'm a cliche
But that list is close to 100% accurate for me.
I'd put them in a different order, especially 1) NMH, 2) Liz Phair, 3) Bell and Sebastian 4) GBV but they're all fantastic records.
Enough cannot be written about how much of a masterpiece Exile in Guyville is. Everyone should own it. Pretty much every one of these records makes me think "this is the best thing ever" each time I put it on but Liz, NMH, Guided by Voices, and B&S are the big players.
Never fails to amuse
This album better be the masterpiece she's fully capable of.
Though I normally ignore interviews
that does make me completely lose interest in ever buying their record.
I think a lot of it is down to
a mad panic when tickets are selling out to just buy them anywhere. Big sites crash so you go to a dodgy one. Luckily the shows I go to are hardly ever sell outs but I can see someone falling into such a trap.
It would be so much easier if ticketing companies just disappeared and let venues do all the work directly but that's probably impossible.
Elton John and Bernie Taupin
Silver Apples
Suicide
The Fiery Furnaces
I am rather excited about this
being a huge fan of everything Jack's done. Alicia isn't bad either. I still think Franz Ferdinand would be a great choice but this could be brilliant.
as much as I love Bjork
how many reissues/collections/etc can one artist put out? Ridiculous.
Will they be a full band this time?
Last time I saw them they played to an iPod and it was a bit rubbish considering how brilliant the album is.
this excites me
a lot.
yawn
at least there'll be one more ticket available for those of us who continue to love the event.
"I was detuning guitars way before Sonic Youth existed"
Complete twat who doesn't really justify his twatishness with his fine but not life changing music but this interview did make me laugh and he makes a few valid points.
this really is turning out to be a legendary lineup
I'm rather glad we chose Explosions now. Even though I initially dreaded a borefest of post rock after post rock.
this is ridiculous
the sample is completely irrelevant, tiny, barely audible and from a public radio show.
Prevent further distribution of one of the best records out there. Dearest me. They'll probably just take out the sample which'll make no difference to anything.
Writing of samples on that record the one of a young Jack saying that poem is brilliant.
Great video
September seems too far away even if I only saw him a month ago.
woo!
Death Set and Black Dice!
heavens
I try my best to keep up with hip hop but have really only heard of two of those top tracks and only actually heard one. Dearest me.
good choices
quite similar to my list too. My top three is.
1) LCD Soundsystem
2) M.I.A
3) Panda Bear
Thank you for this posting
It made my day. Though also made me temporarily £117 poorer than I was a few minutes ago.
I'm genuinely very impressed with this
Top stuff.
are you crazy?
It's not quite as amazing as her first solo record which was a hundred times better than anything she did with Moloko but it's still a fantastic album.
One of my favourite records of the year actually.
apart from The Golden D
which rocks buckets
what a lineup
fantastic stuff.
that's one sweaty Yan
very much looking forward to the new album. Good set list as well. I think I might go back to seeing them a lot after taking a year or two's break.
it feels strange planning for things this early
but Okkervil River at the Luminaire. Oh my Cod.
she looks about 47
shocking.
here's his email to me (which I hope he won't mind me reprinting)
Hi Filip,
Cheers for getting in touch!
I haven't actually been asked to play Truck this year, which is a bit
of
a shame! I'm also absolutely insanely busy trying to get new demos
together for Nu Energy (http://www.nuenergy.co.uk - I've just released
an EP with them) and I don't actually have a live set ready right now.
It's most likely that I won't be playing this year - I want to improve
my studio and take some time out from playing live generally too, but
once that's done I should be back playing again.
Thanks,
Paul
I just emailed Mr Testpilot
about it
this is really worrying me also
it seems insane for him not to play. There's nothing about it on his website. Odd.
Buck 65 doing another spoken word set
So, so the highlight of last year.
So, so happy he's doing it again.
yes, but have you seen him recently?
he still looks about 26.
Come on Thurston
give us that anti-ageing potion you've found already.
How on earth is he in his late 40s looking like that?
I was hooked on speedball as a kid
on the amiga.
yes
I was wondering that.
I may have to get a ticket to one of these if that idea has been scrapped.
hmmm

indeed
I liked Rock Bottom
until I noticed the lyrics.
re being bored
maybe I'm losing my mind but they were quite easily in my top 3 performances of the ATP vs Fans weekend. I was expecting them to be half dull but I really loved it. Really, really loved it. Everyone else I spoke to seemed to as well.
Talk Talk reunion?
No chance but it would be nice.
I saw her supporting The Mountain Goats
and was a bit unimpressed

I thought the Roundhouse show was ace
The lateness and dummy first track actually added to the atmosphere quite a bit. Sound was a bit too bass heavy but I enjoyed it all thoroughly.
