Go away rick rubin

.

you can get cavalry scars on the deerhunter blog thing, i think. can a brother get a reinforcement?

.

Punkz in the beeeeerliiiight...

.

Totally, sometimes a man just needs to vegitate.

.

You've fallen into my sar-chasm! I was just mocking the guy above.

.

Yeah! Maybe! Ha-ha! I used to take the rough with the smooth on such an anti-emo authority as DIS but reporting this story is one step too far. Please stop making Gerard Way out to be reactionist and simple, even in direct quotations. Don't you know that you're just fuelling the fire?!

.

Nothing at all. It seems like he's trivialised the whole thing though. He sounds like a fucking moron ready to fight fire with fire. It's just the wrong arena to address the issue in, do it in a magazine where you can give it some depth. Anything less than adressing the issue would be unbelievable in context but he just sounds aggressive himself and shits all over his doorstep.

.

Nothing wrong sure, nothing smart either...

.

Gotcha, sorry.

.

I don't undeerstand, is he saying that the success of battles/panda bear etc etc has eclipsed balck dice undeservedly? I get what he's saying that the association is a double edge but surely he doesn't just want to talk about black dice 100% when he's around all that other great music? That point seems a little inconclusive.

.

I think glastonbury people will swallow whatever the hand feeds them with. Wait until Jay-z is a no show or a poor show for them to bite said hand.

.

Totally, I think that even if there is a problem here it proves malkmus' silken consistency over the breeders lumpy soup. Cannonball is good stuff though.

.

You're totally accurate in that assumption. I don't actually believe that, but my point is if the enemy is allowed to cite 'working class lads' as if it matters a fuck in 2008, then so can I. The bit about artic monkeys dressing up as english country gents 'as if they've forgotten where they came from' is another total shitter. Does he actually think that them dressing up like that is sincere? Like seriously? How much coal do they have to mine in order to redeem their roots? He's the one with a chip on his shoulder. Totally full of shit and irrelevant. You're welcome.

.

I think I speak for DIS when i say; no, you utter fud. Don't click the article that you know is going to be about the article and assure yourself that DIS is always up to date with news more relevant to you. It's not like they're ommitting something important to report it. I, for one, enjoy knowing that I am gloriously superior to the prole shoal that read the daily star and are fans of the enemy (no caps). So in response to your comment - is that news?

.

Also, also, also - I'm setting up a similar thing in that for every sperm capsule i receicve, a t in the park goer will be borne of that particular sample. T in the park needs to be more full of infantile screaming orphans. Record break '08 guys! Lets make it the best year ever. Give a toss!

.

Who wants to go to a festival of chronic msturbators anyway? It sounds like a tricky hoodwink to get sex addicts in one place so that they can be cleansed.

.

Totally not intrusive or annoying at all. That guy looks like a hard fi fan. No capital letters for that particularly cancerous band.

.

Are d.i.s still pushing the phantom islands gig for glasgow? Is this some kind of voodoo to justify a 'full uk tour' billing?

.

Gardenia, Hopscotch Willie, Dragonfly pie, et al.

I'm not arguing with subjective opinion obvi but there's pop to be found in all of the above and in snippets in the rest. Give it a chance and it'll flourish into the beautiful younger sister of 'face the truth'.

.

Yep, this is miles better than face the truth. It takes a couple of listens right through the whole thing but it sounds real tidy over time.

.

'Out on tour with the Smashing Pumpkins..'

.

Brian foote is in valet, which is a band on kranky defo worth mentioning.

.

Hot Chip is less of an album and more of an accident.

.

Around 80% of last week and this week's hollyoaks episodes have been substance centered. It must be all the incidental tunes at the start that are doing this I guess.

.

You shouldn't (and don't) need to say 'glaswegians should be proud', as there's no issue of ignorance in the first place, just calm down. You completely pre-empt your argument by saying 'glasvegas have been singing in their accent longer' as if its a fucking gimmick and sole characteristic of 'Scottish Music'. If anyone's hindering diversity in scottish music it's you. And I hope they do win the mercury music prize and then go on tour with badly drawn boy.

.

Disagree, it's surely a valid comparison. The original mix of 'daddy's gone' wasn't nearly as pseudo-earie as the current version. It just seems to me like it's lazy taste chasing by the band if anything. Also Glasvegas is the most irritating irony-lol which is just...er...lazy hometown-fanbase-scrounging. They might as well have been called Rangers F.C

.

Twilight Sad lite.

.

'10...15...20 deep.' Smacks of an embarassed child who WAS beaten up. Be reasonable, Murder.

.

of Montreal. Lavish.

.

Hey, little boy...

.

gobshite.

.

Word, but would also agree with grow or the devil. when under ether was a poor choice for 1st single compared to the other tracks.

.

What about Holy Fuck? Is there a review clash i'm unaware of?

.

'..,wither's Middleton,' haha

.

also, what's this banner at the top of dis? some kind of drastic voodoo. Much better prize though.

.

Jo whiley has to be the worst thing about this. That article about her a couple months ago pretty much covered it- however it never ceases to slay me the way that someone so insincere and uncaring about 'new music' can have a job that is considered prestigious. Constant relaying, back channeling and 'ooh i just don't know's' to the point of feigning a pensive looking stress-ache is just the absolute worst. bad bad bad.

.

Go buy an ELO best of.

.

Anyone seen the advert for this album? It has a bona-fide funny from the band themselves, instead of the usual joke of jo whiley trying to sound sincere.

.

Yep, brilliant interview. Didn't know the thing about sending her first draft of a record to those folk. 'When under ether' is a great song but not even the best on the album, kind of strange choice of single.

.

As much as I agree with the first 3 paragraphs why did I have to waste all that time on them before the album is mentioned?

Yes, ace.

Also I'm pretty sure she's been making music before the acting thing, even if that's where most people know her from...

.

Surely Steven Drozd/Elliott Smith/Lou Reed all deserve mentions in this too. Pretty obvious who's good/bad on whatthough, s'pose...

.

Can you still get lilt? Good review.

...

I don't think 'snog' is legitimate verbal currency for any review ever.

...

Saw her at the westport on sunday and it was awesome, the new stuff is pretty much Delgados-esque but a little more simplified. 'stripped down' if you will. I'd agree with the preference for the boy/girl vocals but I think you'd be trying too hard if you couldn't get in to her new stuff. It was sad that not more people turned up to the dundee gig, hopefully the glasgow one tonight will be pakt.

...

Second that. I think it's pretty interesting, sounds like it was only given a couple of listens for this review.

...

pretty much the same line up as indian summer minus flaming lips then?

...

still no broken social scene though eh?

...

They're still ace live, i think you above must have seen them on a bad night cause the glasgow date with fields was brilliant. Still though, time to admit that their new stuff doesn't exactly pack as much punch as they were once worthy of.
