Dananananaykroyd tour
Dana are to be supported by 'Dinosaur Pile Up' in the UK. Nice!
eh-huh
Yeah, special.
Production???
You lot are fucking deaf. The production on Sissy Hits blows (songs are great)... The band don't even like it. Do me a favor and A/B the tracks and then come apologise. The production on 'Hey Everyone' is incredible. Actually, don't bother, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference as your hearing aid battery is dead...
9.5/10 for me
The only track I question is 'One Chance'. Not because it's straight-up hardcore or shorter than a 15 year olds foray into sexual activity, but because 'Chrome Rainbow' deserved the spot a bit more.
In any case, I LOVE THIS FUCKING RECORD!!!
Oh yeah, forgot to say...
NME, just wrong. Isn't the 1st time and won't be the last.
7 my lower backside.
Let's all say it together, 10/10 (or a very strong 9/10 at least).
Cannae wait!
Monday, everyone, everyone, everyone, everyone, everyone, everyone...
JOFO!!
Well done Jofo! You fucking deserve it.
For the many people on the board with the negative comments, get a fucking life. Go out and get some sunshine so you're not so miserable...
All the bands in the top 5 have made great records and deserve some respect.
hmmmm
did I vote?? Not too sure...
Danana single
It's out Oct 6th on ltd 7" vinyl.
camera
It was made with a normal digital camera, 1 picture at a time and a lot of patience...
68,000+ pictures to make this video.
anyway...
pretty cool vid, huh?
fucking hell!!??!!
How have you managed to find this video. And so damn quickly??
I purposefully hid it on a new site and told NO ONE about it. It was meant to be linked to the chaps at Pitchfork for the 'world exclusive' on Thursday...
Oh well, guess it can be the North American exclusive instead...
Mike, you're too good at your job hombre.
alexei missing??
yeah, yeah. we found him. Gin and emo girls just doesn't mix I'm afraid. The girl was a little more butch than Alexei methinks...
Dananananaykroyd album
It's being recorded in mid August in NYC with Machine (just did Johnny Foreigner's album)...
Watch this space!!
Yeah! 9/10
It says so in Rocksound. Must be true as it's in print...
;)
Good one here Alexei! Funny read.
FUCK!!!
I can't believe how good Dananananaykroyd and Johnny Foreigner were last night. I've seen Jofo loads of times and they keep getting better. But last night, I think having Danana on before them made them up their game significantly.
And Danana, SO much fun. I was laughing and signing along from start to finish.
Great show!!
Really hate proud gallery though. Shit venue. Crap sound. No vibe.
good review, GREAT album
Fair enough, 8/10. Most of your points are relevant, but bringing up the fact that you don't think 'Arcs' deserved 10/10 is not. And, it's obvious you've given the full length a lesser score to try to balance things out. It's a bit political and has nothing to do with the music, but, no worries.
9/10, yeah, I think so.
10/10 means God himself would come down from the heavens and we'd all join hands in song. Is there such thing as a perfect record? Maybe not then.
But yeah, 9/10 from me for what my geriatric opinion is worth.
Amazing Album!!
yeah, lovvers
saw them at the crawl and just thought "are they playing to different songs at the same time"...
was not impressed.
2/10
Really, bit harsh...
rider robbery
Alexei, I so scarfed your food and slurped your bevies and I don't have any remorse...
Ahahahahaha!!!
Also...
Just so you know... Jofo put this out there for DiS readers as a thank you to DiS for all their support for Johnny Foreigner. We're actually taking a cut in pay for this to happen.
From JoFo's point of view, supporting a great band like the Mae Shi was an honor, but not all great underground US bands pull shit-loads of people in the UK. We'd rather take a cut in pay to have more people see an amazing show. Who needs food...
Anyway, a big thankee to Mike and the DiS peeps.
album pre-order link
Here is the cheapest place to pre-order the album at the moment:

It guarantees that you get the version with 7 different front covers inside...
Pistolas
Not so sure. They were definitely more of an indie band with the bird. There 10 times tighter now and they've learned to write some songs. The keys are adding something as well. The track dinosaurs is the heaviest thing they've written to date and more 'punk' than anything they've done before.
Ambulance chasing, don't think so either. They've gone more funk rock, than indie shite. Not sure if that is by design to make them big. More likely to alienate rather than cater to the current 'scene'...

Jofo album 2
"There are four or five songs on here that many bands would kill to have in their arsenal"
You said it right there... I would say most of the bands that are adored on this site we be lucky to have 2 albums combined with four or five great songs. Alexei and co have provided shitloads of amazing songs over all their releases.
Respect your opinion but don't agree. This album is definitely more of a grower than 'Waited', but what great records aren't?
