Aces
Will be buying this defo. But I think the release date's the 11th June, not the 4th.
I think
that this review is pretty harsh. I don't think they claim to be punk - it's guitar pop with an infectious chorus and it's a lot of fun. Perhaps you were just looking for something that they weren't offering. Seems to me it's alright to make music without 'social commentary' if you're in an achingly hip electro band, but as soon as you pick up a guitar and play anything loosely punk influenced you're suddenly expected to be the voice of British youth. Seeing them live might change your mind by the way, they're great.
the guitarist from longwave
is in his touring band, and another one of Longwave's in his support band I think
What about
Stool Pigeon? I love that. It's the only music newspaper, it's free and I've never heard of anyone in it. Ace. The writing's of a very high standard too.
Love Kraft...
Is tits. Or so I think anyway. My order would be:
1.Mwng
2.Guerilla
3.Phantom Power
4.Radiator
5. Fuzzy Logic
6. Rings Around the World
7. Love Kraft (Although Lazer Beam is ace, to be fair).
rings around the world...
is not a patch on phantom power if you ask me
That would have to be...
Interpol - Antics
The Strokes - Is This It
Willy Mason - Where the Humans Eat
Joanna Newsom - The Milk Eyed Mender
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Sleepy Jackson - Lovers
I really wanted to think of something British... but I couldn't think of anything as good as these. BSP maybe, the first Libertines possibly, The first Futureheads one. They give them a run for their money but I stick with my original choices.
what about...
WAYNE COYNE? anybody?
The V.C.s
are wicked. Go and see them if you get the chance.
Beeeeeasley Stret
Get 'Beasley Street' by John Cooper Clarke. (It's a poem set to music). You have to.
Napoleon III
And also the synth you wanker. He doesn't use live brass. Give the kid a break, he's just writing a review! I've seen much worse.
