she was a tv presenter once, right? I always think her albums are 'so so' and don't see the point in it, but fair play to her, still bringing in the shows innit.

but think it's better parts outdo it's lesser parts.. A good 7 for sure, they're truly marvelous in places.

I was quite disappointed with this too. I prefer the previous singles, but not dismissing them just yet..

I think he was probably gouging his eyes out as he sung it, and thus it never fails to make me laugh.

I really think you guys will all be raving about WINDMILL very shortly. His album drops in March and it's got that euphoric layering of sound that people commend Arcade Fire for, with a gorgeously fragile/deranged vocal. Amazing.

Real Ones - Lovely, folky Bergen pop
Findlay Brown - Great singer-songwriter
Laura Marling - Jamie T's lass? Great voice
Shady Bard - Great ephemeral tunes
Windmill - It'll be one of your album's of the year!
Pilote - He's back, great lo-fi tracks akin to Ivor Cutler
Answering Machine - New skinny boy heroes..

The album starts really well and then goes to pot towards the end. Shame

I saw them at Luminaire and then again at Old Blue Last, last night. Both mesmerising shows, love them to pieces.

Ridiculous. Here's an average band, throw loads of money at them and see what happens...Nothing..right that's it then sod this, we're over. All the wrong reasons. Nobody connected with them at all, really what was the point? 'Meh' says the music world.

Looking forward to the Ever Records night on Wednesday too...

At the Metro they were slightly disappointing, but it felt much stronger at The Forum

If you like Cortney Tidwell (which you do), you'll find Sol Seppy shares an affinity with her. Touches of Bjork, Mazzy Star etc. Her album is beautiful, look forward to hearing the mini-album.
I think she used to be in, or play live with Sparklehorse, but always get her history mixed up with Joan As Policewoman. I know that Joan sings with Anthony & The Johnsons..

I like both of these songs. Athlete is a painful comparison, but I guess they both share in those big, hearty singalongs. However, I hate Athlete.
Agree that this lot are likely to be huge.

Great, great EP (with a lovely video) - Boomkat were raving about it so I entered them blind and seriously glad I bothered. Didn't someone mention on the board that all French music is rubbish? Give these guys a whirl, the album promises to be ace.

TRO can sing, and so it would seem can the drummer now too.

Good tune, and looking forward to the follow up. I think it's great to see a band that can actually move on with their work rather than carry on and fall apart ala The Thrills. Keane aren't rubbish, but it's taken this long for people to take them as a serious band.
Interesting to see DiS review them live when they still had a guitarist back in 2001!
Hope it knocks Barkley off number 1 too...
