blur didnt skip the hits and play loads of 'Blur' and '13' album tracks when they headlined in 98
1) they only played one song from 13, it wasnt out then.
2) they played loads of hits.
3) apart from the horrific mud it was brilliant.
i went to Glastonbury '97
and Radiohead were one of the many things my 'eager 16 years old just finshed his GSCEs' eye's did see. And they also saw Ocean Colour Scene and Sting on the same stage. Ever since that time i think Glastonbury has been the UK's biggest festival and its line up has reflected that... I dont think it has ever since that time it has been exclusively an "OUR" festival, what ever that means.
I've been to pretty much every Glastonbury since then. And though the festival has change since then with the audience now being a bit safer / mainstream (the monster fence stopping the overcrowding, nutters and err, robbers) its still the best festival ive been to. For me, last year was the best of the lot and I cant bloody wait for this years.
vagrant presaleticket+live cd bundle
is back on sale... http://vagrantuk.bigcartel.com/
i do still have that awesome tablet packaging
is a bit battered now though.
"a reminder that Belle & Sebastian could always rock out"
...not sure about that.
but still, im super excited to get my hands on this.
more than excited
i reckon you never love a band in the same or as much as your first favourite band, the one that got you into music in the first place... blur were that band for me.
totally psyched for this.
I don't get it
Like seriously. I just don't get Glasvegas. On any level.
Its not hatred by any means, its just confusion.
and...
sunglasses?
leather jackets?
alan mcgee?
/\agreed/\
with both of these
yeah
that is quite amazing.
Go Bloc Party!
Hurrah!
amongst all the hysteria, i really thought i was the only one who has such utter disdain for this band.
good album
though that album cover is easily one of the worst covers ive seen this year. certainly NOT... "Graceful, cinematic and wholly evocative, it's a sweet, apposite reflection of the musical contents lying within."
i just don't get it
i really really dont.
literally...
the best piece of music ive ever seen on tv ever.
Guy quote
"So this is a celebration for about three dozen people, and we're going to throw ourselves into their arms and have a massive party. And I have to say, on a final note, we're all very, very accomplished drinkers."
AWESOME.
in main...
MYSTERY JETS - TWO DOORS DOWN
Estelle - American Boy
The Hold Steady - Contructive Summer
MGMT - Time To Pretend
All those would remind me of good times this summer i think.
BECAUSE IT LOOKS GOOD!
best thing i saw in the weekend i think.
yeah
they were serious freakin' ace at Reading. i pulled out some silly dance moves and it was ace. great band.
yeah,
this is really really good. excited.
theyre headlining Reading
i think a lot of people still care.
saw him at sonar few year ago
it pissed it down with rain. and was one of best things i have ever seen.
being a wide eyed 16 year old
Glastonbury '97 was, and as my first festival, pretty damm amazing. being youthful didnt even mind the mud.
have been to lot better glastonburys since though.
extremely tempted
loads.
first time i went to glastonbury ('97)
it seriously took us about 14 hours to get there. didnt get into site till 6.30am on friday.
in the back of our mates dads campervan... our giddy group of 16yr olds didnt really care though. ha. youth.
surely
youre kidding?
2nd Listen
i like it.
like the stupidness of the video aswell. can see myself pulling ridiculous drunken dance moves to this at some later point. which is surely what is important.
trust me
from someone who actually went to both Glastonbury and V for the weekend last year, the audiences were remarkably similar.
One artist does not sell out glastonbury. Doesnt matter if its Rolling Stones, Jay Z, Radiohead or David Gilmour. Obviously really, as not everyone in the whole site goes to see the main headliners.
However, 3-4 years of mud baths and shite weather, has much more of an affect than any one act can.
this
scares the shit out of me.
jay z is gonna be amazing
and i really dont get what all the fuss is about.
i was at V last year (audience wise quite similar to glastonbury these days) and during Kayne West's set he said:
"Anyone wanna hear some tunes by my boss?"
The crowd cheered, then his dj went on to play whole bunch of jay z tunes all mixed together for about 5 minutes. It literally went off. People loved it.
I cant see how this audience will be that different at glastonbury. Its going to be brilliant. Hopefully i can watch it without falling to some lefty bbc conspiracy and manage not to go and stab someone after the show aswell. I can but wish.
bit predictable
this review that is.
People who write for DiS hate The Fratellis, allowing all indie types to get together and shout "yeah! i hate them to". shock horror. surprise.
yeah
this really is super ace album.
oh.
have actually only heard of one of those bands. bit of an anti climax. oh well.
Its the same across the music industry unfortunatly...
Far too much over-competitiveness, jealously and bitterness whatever the company. Which in current climate, just confuses and saddens me.
wrong
i like drum n bass. and i also like pendulum.
went to see them couple of weeks ago and had the best time. theyre big, dumb, stupid and absolutly ace because of it.
i have to say
i really dont get this feature at all...
cant you get the bands to host streams of their tracks on muxtape or mixwit sites? then it would actually justify the features title "Mixtape #", and it would be ace.
at the moment it just a list of songs with links. some links that dont even direct you to the said song. it confuses me.
Queen: Greatest Hits Vol 1
is easily one of the best albums ever made.
or if not album - collection of songs in one package
Totally get oasis relation people have mentioned here...
...it really does, especially first half.
It does exactly what a coldplay single should do. and I Like It.
KINSELLA-CORE
genre term friend came up with recently to obviously describe the likes of Joan Of Arc, Owls and Cap N Jazz...
...aswell as whole host of new uk bands (Foals, Dartz, Tubelord etc) at moment who are clearly influenced by them.
i know. its brilliant. beats math-rock any day.
theyre a good time band
and i think theyre bloody ace.
perhaps my favourite "topman indie" band at the moment.
was 1995 @ Milton Keynes Bowl
first gig i ever went to!
sleeper also supported. ha.
/\agree/\
unfortunatly i dont think its the only part he comes across as an absolute insufferable snob either.
still.... ace band though.
this summer
reckon this lot are totally gonna rule the festivals. cannot wait.
yeah clearly
never. gonna. happen.
Talk Show Host
without being too nerdy, has gotta be in amongst it. frekin tune.
and also that True Love Waits from the live album would be in mine. bloody tune that.
/\/\ hahaha /\/\
yeah i was at that T In The Park set. though still loved it as i was and propably still am insane blur fan
the same year when they headlined Reading. literally the best thing i have ever seen. and they closed with 'Sing' - amazing.
Agreed
I'm struggling to understand how any music fan could not find something to have a good time to amongst a line up of this size.

it totally was
i had a brilliant time.
though if anyone went to this show and failed to have a brilliant time, then they've got some problems.
